I’ve been to several Kiehl’s locations in NYC, but the UES location is closest to my life, so this review is for the half dozen times I’ve gone in. I’ve found every employee to be extremely helpful (from recommending products to offering samples to a free 20 minute facial). They even let me return a product that I had been using for a few months and wasn’t crazy about. Kiehl’s products have been wonderful for my skin and I’m a happy frequent shopper at the UES location.

The sales people here like other Kiehls are a hit or miss. Either they are knowledgeable and helpful or they have street attitude. the ONLY person you should see here is Asher (not sure if i’m spelling his name right) but he is patient, courteous and generous with the samples. there are a few other nice ones but I think Asher is the best.
I have been a user of higher end brands like Lancome, Algenist, etc but i find myself switching little by little to Kiehl’s over the past year. Their Crème de Corp and lip balms are must haves for everyone and their lifeless serums and creams are gentle and effective. Their overnight peel should be in everyone’s medicine cabinet… apply overnight then scrub the next am for smooth, powerless and gorgeously clean skin.

When I walked in, there was no other person in the store, i am not surprised… I asked the cashier if they make samples, this was my first time (and last walking into kielhs), he looked at me with a baffled look, «mmm, are you able to make samples of the product» like at sephora… lol
He said yes, finally. After a minute of confusion, lol. So I picked out the products that I wanted samples of. I go to a different sales rep and asked if I could get a sample of these products he said there are none and I asked if he could make me a sample, he said there are no more plastic testers. No more plastic testers?
Really? I’ve never been to sephora not fresh and had them say to a customer they ran out of plastic containers.
Not to mention the staff was rude and didn’t want to be there. Oh and the white coasts? You are not doctors nor aestheticians, give up the white coats, it looks silly.

While my husband and I both love Kiehl’s products, we had previously only purchased them through online outlets and in department stores such as Nordstrom or Bloomingdale’s. We thought it would be nice to visit this small-​ish outpost on Lex to replenish a couple of essentials — we adore their unisex and super-​rich lip balm as hand salve. We we happy to see that the in-​store prices were the same as online and even when compared to their authorized outlets on Amazon.
However, the store was super-​small and cramped, and the staff weren’t helpful at all. It was pretty irritating when, after we had just purchased one item, and closed the transaction, that when I then had my lotion rung up by the same cashier, she asked me to pay for the lip balm that I had just bought from her (and that my husband was applying)…I had to show her the receipt!
Seeing as though there wasn’t any sort of a ‘wow’ experience in-​store, or any incentive to shop there over the online outlets, I think I’ll give my future Kiehl’s business to department stores that sell their products. I’ve heard others say that the downtown location is better than the UES one, so perhaps I’ll check that one out someday.

I love Kiehl’s products a lot! Majority of the skin care & body care I use is from Kiehl’s but it is definitely hard to shop in a store that the customer service is so awful! The staff is so rude, they are not helpful at all. I had received some Kiehl’s dollars and had some questions about some products that I was curious about trying and the staff just didn’t care to help or talk to me at all. I had told them that I had this money to spend so I was definitely going to make a purchase so I didn’t see a reason for them to treat me so rude but it is what it is, right? If I do return to this location, I will make sure to do my research before hand this way I do not have to «bother» the staff here.

Even though there are plenty of Kiehl’s stores in NY, there is a certain panache to dropping money at their store on Lexington.
The employee was helping other customers and there wasn’t anyone to help me. There were other employees around, but they were all chilling in the break room it seemed, so I navigated the shelves with individualistic pride to find a new cleanser. Same guy was super nice when I checked out.
Serious kudos for the samples with purchase and the reward based recycling system they have.

Smaller than the downtown outlet, but with the same aesthetic. Yes, there’s the obligatory motorcycle. Go ahead and ask for samples, which will be cheerfully dispensed.
Lots of men’s products are front and center. Around the corner is a small Kiehl’s spa, which seems to specialize in men’s skin care.
The friendly and helpful staffers try to upsell even the simplest transaction. No, I really don’t need that tub of moisturizer. In fact, no one needs that tub of moisturizer. What are you thinking, Kiehl’s?

Went in there this afternoon looking for some new products because my face is breaking out. AMAZING SERVICE. I didn’t feel pressured to buy anything, the gentleman helping me (Carl-​Michael) was absolutely one of the sweetest SA’s I’ve ever dealt with. Took his time, showed me a variety of products, tested some on my hand. Even gave me a bunch of samples of other products I wanted to try.
Before this I had gone to Bloomingdale’s and approached their Kiehl’s counter and the woman made me feel like I was bothering her and just read off the bottles, yeah I can do that too lady! I left and came here, glad I did! I’ll be back :)

To the guy who was just working the floor… Yeah, you, the one with the beard and glasses, and the coiffed hair…
I walked in, and you completely ignored me. You were doing nothing but standing there. However, three minutes later, a pretty white girl walked in, and you immediately turn and ask her if she needed help.
I’ll patronize this store again when you quit, or are fired.

Very nice outpost of a very good company. They carry the same great Kiehl’s products their other stores do, but in a very good location. Great sales staff, too.
