Hamid sold me a beautiful Heriz rug, quite large, with gorgeous colors and design, and the price was fair and eminently reasonable. The day before I bought a different rug from him, but when I got it home I discovered it was too large for the space. He had no problem with my coming the next day to choose the rug I have now and take back the first one. Overall he spent hours with me, showing me rug after rug. I couldn’t be happier with the quality of my rug and the care Hamid took finding exactly the right one. With so many rugs to choose from in New York, I highly recommend this little shop on lower Fifth Avenue.

We bought two carpets from the co-owner brothers. Prices are very reasonable, and the owners are lovely and knowledgeable. Buying here was a wonderful experience.

I’ve been a rug collector for years, and have lived in this neighborhood all of my life. Antique and vintage rugs have definitely been part of my home, so I feel confident to recommend Kermanshah and its family owned business. Going into their store is not just going to buy a rug. It’s really an education. The owners will spend time with you explaining the rug’s history, where it was made etc., that enables you to understand that you’re not just buying a rug, but really a work of art for your floor. They are not just into selling you a rug, as in other stores, but wanting you to get what you really want. Also since its their own business they don’t work on a commission, so you are paying just for the rug. Prices are really good, and reasonable. I highly recommend them! Louise K. New York City 2÷1÷13

I just got the most unbelievable deal here. I’m still pinching my self. These guys have an amazing selection and their prices are SO much better than other popular Manhattan rug venders.

I don’t know much about rugs or tapestries but I do know the Kermanshah brothers provide great service and excellent advice. A couple years ago I had a leak in my AC unit which caused water damage to a Persian carpet in my living room. After doing a bit of research it became clear that there was a lot of hype about the«right» way to clean a hand woven wool carpet. Large industrial cleaning machines, by hand, slow dry, fast dry, special chemicals… the list went on and on. I decided to stop by Kermanshah to get the scoop. One of the brothers explained the pros and cons of various cleaning methods. Their method is old school — by hand and air dry. This takes longer but apparently results in the least amount of damage to the rug. I believe their prices were a little higher than the places advertised in the mailbox coupons but I didn’t mind since the shop is local, family owned and I was talking directly to the owner. The second best part(I’ll get to the best part in a moment) is that Mr. Kermanshah served fresh brewed Middle Eastern style tea on a tray with figs and dates. I’m all ears Mr. Kermanshah… tell me more. This reminded me of a similar experience in Cairo where a shop owner invited me to drink tea, eat some snacks and lounge on rolled up carpets and basically hang out and talk. I didn’t buy anything and it honestly didn’t seem to be the point. I digress… In the end, the stain didn’t come out but I didn’t mind because Mr. Kermanshah provided a much more valuable service — he suggested I file a claim with my insurance company and provided a written estimate to back it up. It didn’t even occur to me. I’ve been paying a few hundred bucks each year for apartment insurance and never gave it much thought(knock on wood). I filled out a few forms, took some pictures and made a few phone calls. Then. like magic… a check arrived in my mailbox 6 weeks later. I looked at the check over and over to make sure it was real and smiled all the way to the bank. Kudos also to the Allstate Insurance Company for providing an easy no hassle claims experience. Enough said — this is definitely a place to stop by if you are looking for a hand woven carpet(antique or new) or need a carpet cleaned. If you’re lucky, you might even get some tea, dates and figs too.
