Mehh at best… Karaōke here is very inexpensive especially if you come before 8pm, but this place doesn’t feel clean, service is pretty unsatisfactory and staff are NOT friendly. For example, they didn’t explain how to use the remote and when I asked how, the employee was visibly annoyed and gave me a lot of attitude. The remote is very different from most karaōke remotes because you have to manually look up numbers and input them as opposed to searching by artists and titles — talk about a waste of time, time which you are paying for. No wonder this place is so inexpensive…

Great place for karaōke! Not so expensive for a full private room. Drinks are cheap too: 5 $ per bottled beer. I recommend it!

Karaōke here is alright. Their song selections are newish with monthly updates. I went a few days ago and the most recent hits they had were up to August 2015 which is pretty good, though they were missing some songs that I would’ve wanted to sing. Sound system is pretty okay. Also not very expensive even at peak times as they charge per person. However…service is not the best. The person responsible for our room was not very nice. I met my party late and when I arrived in the room, there was a drunk person who made his way into our room. Instead of listening to us and kicking that guy out, she said«if he comes in again, we will charge you for another person.» Even the drunk guy realized what she was saying and felt the need to tell her he is not with us and was going on his merry way. Definitely could’ve improved on how she handled the situation. Another added bonus here is they have a rewards card. You get a stamp every time you spend over $ 20 and once you fill up the card you get a free hour which could be a game changer if you have a large party. All in all this place is pretty good, but room for improvement.

Pros: Good location, lots of rooms, clean bathrooms, good selection of songs. Cons: Some of the drinks are Terrible. I got a vodka soda and it was the worst, bottom-shelf vodka I’d ever tasted. Since it only came with a lemon, I decided to ask for a lime or 2 to mask the bad taste. The lady at the counter said there would a charge. Seeing as my friends and I got the marathon karaōke session and 4 rounds of drinks, I couldn’t believe she would say that. I replied that the vodka was ‘really bad’ to which she handed me 1 teeny tiny sliver of lime.

A surprisingly large interior, there are a ton of private rooms. They’re music selection is dated by a few years unfortunately, but they have everything before that. Staff is friendly and clearly works hard.

Came here on the late night with my friend for the first time and we had a blast! Lots of music to choose from and they had songs in Spanish too which made it that much better. Granted we stayed until they kicked us out(4am on a Tuesday) staff was super sweet and courteous.

the karaōke marathon is the best deal ever! We came here at 3:30 and sang till 8 for $ 14 per person! Can’t beat that. We had 5 people for the first 3 hours then 1 more person till 8. You can bring food in but no drinks. This makes for a great afternoon and good time to learn new songs. There were so many English songs that I have not sang, so was learning them as we go along. The rooms vary in size — the large one even has a stage. The seats are a bit worn in the room we were in but who cares. We were there to sing! 2 microphones — one was kind of dying by the end but I am sure they can replace the battery if we had asked. There were different types of song books to order from — By title, By artist, latest hits, etc. Water is free but you have to go out and get it yourself. Definitely will be going back again in 3 months to get my karaōke on~

Karaōke isn’t my first choice of group entertainment but it can be fun with the right people. In this case it was even if it was with mostly friends of a friend of mine who I didn’t know beforehand. Anyway, attended Karaōke DUET35 last night for a small birthday gathering… Walking into this place at first glance you would think you are walking into a low key spa/massage parlor that gives happy endings. Looks very suspicious. But once you’re in the actual place it is a decent spot that has a full bar and many rooms for you and a nice group of friends(I would say 10 – 12 at most) to cut loose and have some fun trying to sing/rap some tunes. The drinks here are a bit watered down haven ordered a grey goose w. pineapple, Jack and coke and margarita all in which did little for me but then again my tolerance just may be high. Nonethelss Karaōke DUET35 is a nice little spot to have a birthday gathering or a group night out with friends in midtown.

Came here for my birthday with a reservation of 22. The place is located in the strip of ktown, making it easy to get to by train. 1) ROOM — Minimum of 15 people for our room at least. They count heads every hour. It is 8.50 per person per hour. Bring your own food but drinks not allowed. Minimum of 2 hours for whatever room you’re in. Room is clean with a long coffee table and a couch that extends all around it. Adjustable lighting 2) BAR — Conveniently located right at the entrance, with a lounge area for people to hang out at on breaks or waiting for a room. Not far from all the rooms since they’re all on the same floor. Good choice of drinks. 3) KARAOKESYSTEM — They say they update their list every month but the songs aren’t that updated. You’ll find maybe a few that are top charts. They have books by artist, song, and a new song book. Put a lot in or else it’s going to be really quiet and awkward. Mics don’t run out of battery 4) STAFF — Don’t speak English that well but they are nice and they tell you how the system works when you come in. At the bar they serve you with a smile and constantly provide you with a pitcher of water and clean cups. 5) BATHROOM — I’m not sure if they only have one bathroom for guys and one for girls but the one for girls only had two stalls. No line though. Substantially clean I would come here again

Great Venue for getting your Karaōke on. Good service. No bundled menu, can book a room for $ 8.50 per person per hour. Good song selection. We’ve come here for a few birthday parties and get togethers and it has always been a fun time. Rooms are clean. Make sure you reserve the room before you come.

Who knew this could be so much fun? I certainly didn’t. But thanks to some Unilocalers I have been Korean karaōke initiated. I’ll be honest, I am no where in the least lyrical savvy and have always confessed to be lyrically challenged. I am more into harmonizing and background choruses, plus I am tuned into hearing violins, drums, guitars, deep bass beats, anything but the lyrics. But karaōke, yes karaōke, has broaden the lyrical in me. I’ve never attempted karaōke before. I’ve always observed and encouraged others but never a participant. From what I’ve discovered here at Duet 35, is that I prefer Korean karaōke over a piano bar. Don’t get me wrong, the piano bar is great, but I am no way brave enough to get on a stage, like some of my other Unilocal cronies. I like the comfortability of sitting amongst a small group of people in a room that I have just met rather than a full bar of strangers. Duet 35 allows no outside alcohol as I discovered walking in as they have their own bar, but you are welcome to bring your own food. The bars pour on red wine is short and a tad bit expensive, but the few glasses I had served me well and provided the liquid courage I needed to bring me out my shell to eventually grab the mic. The room we were in accommodated our party between 8 – 9 comfortably. The song/artist books listed a wide range covering all genres that suited everyone’s inner rockstar needs. The sound system was not bad, though for some songs I wanted to tweak the equalizer, but refrained as I know they have cameras in each of the rooms and didn’t want to be scolded again by any of the employees, as I did when I first walked in with the birthday girls gift of alcohol. Anyway, the venue is modern and the bathrooms were pretty clean, which is a plus as you are in the establishment for several hours getting your tunes on. Thank you birthday girl for inviting me to your birthday karaōke. I had a great time including several moments of, ‘…are those the words that they’re singing in that song?’ And now I know the words to quite a few songs that has expanded my very limited span of lyrics. Duet 35, I would definitely try KK again.

This has always been my go to karaōke bar in ktown for years which makes it ironic when you learn that this is actually run by a Japanese staff. Why is this my go to? 1) The pricing is DIRTCHEAP. When we came on a Saturday night after midnight(I guess technically then it’s a Sunday), but we were only charged $ 8.50/per person with a party of 5! The pricing hasn’t changed much in like the past 6 years when I started coming here and I find that amazing. 2) The drinks are cheap! $ 6 shots and $ 6 well drinks all the time. 3) Vast selection of songs we can sing in English, Korean, Japanese and Chinese 4) Staff is super friendly and accommodating to your needs. Our original room had an odor in it from the past group and they were able to switch us to another. But all the rooms are well maintained and clean otherwise. 5) They give you a 10 minute warning when your time is up but I’ve always seen them give us a grace period after our allotted time. Unless the place is busy and another group is waiting for your room. Then they have no problem cutting you off back to the gundam animé lol.

I seriously concur with Jenn F. *this is a serious review. P. S. Clean bathroom. Up-to-date song list(you can also search the song from its website just to make sure). Partially«old» rooms and partially renovated rooms. Reservation highly recommended. A wide variety of snack/beer/wine list to choose from! P. P. S. evening hours/prices start at 8PM. This place is SO much fun! I came here the first time with a huge group of 15 and the next day with only 4. Bring your own food; drinks are served here and outside drinks aren’t allowed in(but they don’t check.) Prices(per person, per hour): M — Th: $ 4 before 8 pm, $ 68-close Fri — Sat: $ 5 before 8 pm, $ 8.508-close Sunday and holidays: $ 5 before 8 pm, $ 68-close, includes all national holidays, no Easter The rooms are always super clean and highly air conditioned in anticipation of your sweaty antics and ratchet dancing. However, there are no disco lights like at St. Marks so if you turn down the lights, the room is just dark. The rooms are also super small for a small party under 6 so not enough room for dancing! They have Chinese, English, and Korean song books and I think I saw some Spanish songbook there too on the shelf. If you can’t find the song you’re looking for, look in the back of the book for the updated inserts. The hilarious thing is that they don’t include all the music videos with the songs and instead substitute cheesy Japanese ones, so you might end up trying to sing to Anaconda while watching a kimono-clad girl crying over her lover’s grave. Fun times, fun times.

Showed up here with a bunch of friends and we sang really late into the night. I’ll be honest, things got pretty blurry after I’d been drinking for several hours. But the pictures from karaōke seem to suggest I had an amazing time. I also appreciated that the remote was easy to use. At one point, pizza showed up from… somewhere… and it was delicious. Guys, I was drunk. But I had a great time. You will, too.

It’s a birthday so what do you do but get a giant room for 3 hours. We arrived a little late, but they were still able to accommodate us, which was great. There was a plethora selection of songs to choose from. it’s fun… and when you’re with a bunch of people; it can be a great time. For service, you use the telephone. They cut you off when your time is up and there are people waiting(not so fun). They charge per person/per hour. They have tons of rooms available in different size. They don’t have pitchers of beer, so you have to order by the bottle and whatnot. They cleared the empty bottles pretty frequently so they don’t pile up. All in all, it was a pretty good experience.

My friends also end up going here for Kareoke because it’s not scary and it’s easy. I find it to be a little less authentic(that is a nice way for me to say there are lots of white people). It is expensive and we always end up getting gouged. Be careful and plan ahead if you are the one to put down your card. They charge every time someone walks into the room — so if you have a friend that is just stopping by for a drink you will have to pay for them for as many hours as you have the room. I do feel like they pad the bill with extra drinks and people. Guests can order drinks from the bar but if you get drinks to the room it is hard to keep track of who owes what — especially if you are with those people who always underestimate the bill and don’t leave enough. We asked for three hours and they shut us down after 2. I found the service slow and unfriendly. Some people may find this place fancy but it is kind of tacky. I think I actually prefer the dingier places, TBH.

Top 10 Rules of engagement when karaoking with Jenn include the following of Do Not Attempt If: 1. you don’t actually know the song 2. you’re too shy and no one can hear you 3. you’re too loud and now everyone can only hear you 4. you have zero musicality and are screwing up the song 5. cats and dogs whimper in agony whenever you try 6. you can’t hang for a whole marathon’s worth(2 – 8 pm) 7. your favorite last song is «It’s My Life.» Because it’s not your life; it’s Bön Jovi’s. And because we are not at a club where it’s last call and time to head home. 8. you like to input Will Smith songs, but abandon it halfway into the song 9. you’re not going to partake in the singing, and think it’s perfect timing to have long and meaningful conversations with your neighbor 10. you’re on your cell phone texting vehemently. this is a cell-free zone, buddy I’ve been coming here for years, and Duet 35 usually does not fail me. They have since renovated and expanded the space, and there are new rooms available. The staff has been slacking in the song updating department, but they are never more than 2 months behind. Their franchise is still the best place for private rooms. At $ 12 or $ 14/per person/per hour, it’s a steal for mic hogs who can’t seem to «let it go, let it go!»
