BF and I went to eat dinner here as we were craving something different and wanted some great Korean food. They went from empty to packed within a few minutes of arriving, the ambiance was nice and busy and the level of service was still good. We ordered the bulgogi, and BF had some great pork dish. It was seasoned nicely! We gave it 4 stars because the service was great, however the rice portion was minimal. We would definitely come back again!

I ordered food from here frequently. The food is good, however today I found a preservative bag in rice cake dumpling soup and I threw it away. I am skeptical of their sanitary level of the kitchen… do they not pay attention what they are putting inside the food?

I really enjoyed their food! Ordered seafood gobdol bibimbap, was very tasty and very good. They have a 7 delicious appetizers which make me full before the main dish lol. Would like to go there again and try different food!

We were vacationing and ordered the following for delivery; Kalbi, spicy pork, spicy tofu soup, bi bim pop and Kimchee pancake. The Kalbi or galbi was meh, I’ve had way better and even make better. The spicy pork was different from how I usually have it, my son liked it. It was cut super thin and seasoned ok. Tofu soup was good, I was surprised with the seafood that was in there. My bi bim pop had chunks of burnt rice in it! And everything was already mixed. They totally messed that up! No egg was on it, every Korean place I’ve been to always had an egg on top. Kimchee pancake, not enough kimchee or even kimchee taste that I forgot what it was until my son asked if there was kimchee in it. Me and my mom should school this place because they seemed to have forgotten or not care about giving their food authentic taste, or taste for that matter. The side dishes I felt were made JUST to have them to serve as side dishes. Poorly seasoned. This place is horrible and I can say this because I’m half Korean and cook way better than this place. What a waste of $ 135 !! I’m very disappointed, this is the worst Korean food ever! All you people that gave 3 stars and more don’t know ish about korean food. lol and yeah I’d throw down for you and let you taste korean eats. MY kalbi will have flavor and no Damn burnt rice in my bi bim pop

I don’t know why we don’t go here more frequently. Good to know they deliver! Recently went because most of the usual spots we go to for lunch had too long of a wait. Their servings are pretty usual. Nothing was outstanding but good for a quick bite. I think my coworker’s gamjatang was the best. My other coworker got budaejjigae which she always gets cuz of the ramen noodles and they didn’t give it to her! They said she’s supposed to tell them before hand if she wants. Well if that’s the case they should have told us cuz that is not something that is common… Very strange…

I had gal bi tang and tofu dish. Average gal bi tang. The meat was soft and was good, the broth was plain, not much flavor. Good big portion of the soup. Tofu dish was not exactly what i expected but was not bad. Side dishes were mostly too sweet(at least on this day). Service was good. It’s a very typical korean restaurant, but wont be my first pick in korea town.

Just landed in NYC and was going to meet the client in the morning. 6 hour flight felt like 16 and starving. Dropped by here and the food was as good as it taste back home. Going back with the gang next time for sure.

Whenever I’m in K-town, choosing a good restaurant is a conundrum. I’m not a Korean cuisine expert, so I just blindly choose whatever’s in close proximity to where I’m standing in K-town. I’ve eaten at Hanbat a few times, most recently on a Sunday evening after karaōke at Duet 35. The restaurant was quiet and not too busy, so my friends and I appreciated that. We shared the seafood pancake, and it tasted very good and crispy. Yum! Three of us in our group ordered the seafood/tofu soup. It was good and the perfect remedy for the cold I caught because of the the a/c at Duet 35. Sorry, I can never remember the name of Korean dishes. The other 2 in our group ordered bimbimbaps. My favorite part of eat eating Korean food are the complimentary side dishes. These were good, but I wish we got more during our visit.

This midtown place is amazing! I had the Dolsot bibimbap and the soondubu soup and they were excellent. It’s on 35th street so if you don’t want to walk down to 32nd, THISISTHEPLACE. Prices are reasonable and again the quality is excellent. Haven’t tried the barbecue yet but I’m on a diet now so

Just average in terms of taste. I got the Soybean Stew and thought it was okay. They gave a variety of banchan but very little of each; plus, we had to keep asking for refills of the banchan. The service could have been more attentive. Their lunch special prices are very good though; under $ 10.

Sometimes, hidden restaurant =\ hidden gem. This places is hidden on 35th street, which is two blocks away from Ktown. I actually ordered takeout through seamless. The food is not fresh at all and nothing tastes good. And expensive. Ugh Do 2 block walking and try something better.

Ambiance: def less crowded and shorter wait than ktown that is only a few blocks over! Service: attentive for sure and nice people! Food: Reviews on generous portions are correct. Their duboki is a little different from what I am used to, it isn’t really spicy at all and the sauce is less red than usual(check out my photo) I wasn’t a major fan of it but if you like less spicy you might like it. The Bulgogi was delightful and well marinated! order it! The pork bimbimbop wasn’t bad, not the best I’ve had but it’s up there! All in all i might just be back when wanting to avoid the crowds of Ktown and craving Korean food!

A-OK. I ate dinner on a weeknight and it was 50% filled with customers. The service was touch and go; I had to call the server over to order and to get the check. The Bimbimbap was fine but served much too hot. I waited about 10 minutes but the food still burned my tongue. It’s great this location is open 24 hours.

A few friends and I came here after karaōke at Duet 35. We were seated right away. We decided to share dishes because the portions were quite large and it was the perfect amount of food for the 4 of us. After we ordered, the server brought over the banchan(Korean side dishes), which were pretty good. My favorites were the fish cakes and dried seaweed — It was wonderfully flavored, incredibly crispy, sprinkled with sesame seeds and definitely addicting. I also liked the broccoli and cauliflower. We ordered scallion pancake with seafood, bibambop, ribs and noodles. The scallion pancake was delicious. I especially liked the more crispy, slightly burnt parts. I just wish there was more shrimp in it because I didn’t like the other type of seafood in it. The bibambop came with marinated beef, egg and veggies. We had to wait for a few moments to get a spoon to stir it with, but turned out fine. The mixture of rice with the meat and vegetables had a nice taste to it. The grilled short beef ribs came on a sizzling platter, along with onion. It was wonderful, marinated in a very flavorful sauce. The ribs were super juicy, tender, slightly sweet and definitely lip-smacking good. The Korean style glass noodles with vegetables and beef were also quite yummy with plenty of both meat and veggies, which were very fresh(broccoli, cucumber, spinach, peppers, onion) The food here was solid, but the service was bit slow. Also, there seemed to be a language barrier. Overall, great meal at a lovely Korean restaurant.

I was not impressed with Hanbat. I ordered a kimchi jigae and it was okay at best. There really wasn’t much savory flavor and was just kind of sour. I’ve definitely have had better elsewhere. My friend ordered the seol long tong(forgive my spelling) and she thought it was really bland. She ended up adding lots of salt and hot sauce to raise the flavor profile. Normally this review would have generated 3 stars, but the interaction at the end with the server took it a notch down. She basically came up to us and said you’ve been sitting here for a long time, pay now. This was about 10 — 15 minutes after we received the check. I understand where she is coming and if the restaurant was packed and busy, we would’ve rolled out of there even faster, but there were a number of empty tables. And I would of appreciated it if she gently suggested we take a look at the bill before she came out guns blazing. Needless to say, I probably wouldn’t return and I’m mainly basing my opinion on the food.

Had a pretty good meal as a group of 4 on a Saturday night. Normally Ktown is busiest around at nights so while this particular restaurant is few blocks away from Ktown it still is quite popular. So I was quite happy to learn there was no wait at the time. We were quickly served Banchan pretty much right after we placed the orders. They were decent and nothing really stood out. But I’m definitely a fan of their seafood pancake and galbi ribs. A bit expensive for the order but the portion is decent and enough for 4 to share. Also the ox knee bones soup entrée I got normally would be either have salt on the side and its nice to see they use vinegar sauce for flavoring its a good change. A bit more expensive for the dinner offerings but overall its a solid korean spot in a sea full of Korean food choices. Being that its a block away from Ktown certainly makes it less wait compare to the popular choices like BCD or Miss Korea. Service was quite good as we didn’t have much trouble getting attention of the wait staff. Although it wasn’t quite packed while we were eating so I would certainly think during peak times service will suffer some more. Personally I think this is a good alternative choice to all those line ups on 32nd st. as its not really in a touristy spot. to avoid the wait during weekends

Hanbat, a Korean restaurant, is a couple blocks north of K-town(32nd street between 5th and Broadway). I have only gotten delivery from Hanbat — the delivery was really bad, while the food was mediocre. If you have never had Korean food before, I would highly recommend eating AT the restaurant because you get much more food and much more pleasant experience overall. My friend and I decided to order the traditional Korean«street food» of Soon Dae(Korean style pork sausage) and Duk Bok Gi(rice cake and fish cake with beef in spicy sauce). At $ 13.95 and $ 16.95, respectively, both dishes were on the pricier side. When you are in Korea, you would never pay anything over $ 10 for these types of food. The Soon Dae had about 20 pieces and served with salt for dipping on the side. The inside of the soon dae had clear noodles, veggies, and pork meat and all wrapped with thin layer of pork intestine. The soon dae itself was pretty tasty, but I was hoping for the more street food type soon dae made primarily with clear noodles and chewier texture. The Duk Bok Gi was not very good. Not only was the glutinous rice cake all mushed together and dry, there were only a couple slices of thin beef. I liked the big chunks of cabbage. For my entrée, I had the seasonal Kong Gook Soo(cold soy broth noodle, $ 12.95). The noodle was also very dry and tasted like store-bought noodles. The soy bean broth lacked the deep soy flavor I was looking for. They gave us an assortment of banchans, or side dishes, including kimchi, spinach, fish cake, and cucumber in spicy sauce. However, the variety of side dishes is not as varied as if I were to eat at the restaurant.

Just a couple of blocks away from K-town… Apparently, this is the lunch spot before hitting up karaōke! I don’t know how popular this place is at night or on average, but we came here on a weekend and had the place to ourselves. We had a group of about 8 people. They didn’t rush us at all as some of us were late, took our time ordering and the wait staff was great. Banchan was limited, but for what they did have, it was pretty good. We ended up ordering soondubu jjigae and bibimbap all around. I tried both and didn’t think too much of it. They tasted as they should’ve with a good amount of flavor. These are pretty basic dishes, so if they mess these up, it wouldn’t be a very good Korean restaurant… Food portions and prices are pretty standard for Korean restaurants in this area. If there is a line, it probably won’t be over half an hour and certainly not out the door, that’s a good start right? Overall, a decent option for some Korean food!

Went back for a second time and I got the yukgaejang and my fried got the jaeyukbokum. The portions here are always huge. You will not leave this place without being full. One thing I love about this place is that it is off of K-town on 32nd street, so if all the restaurants there are full like on a weekend night, you can always head up 3 blocks to find seating here. The prices here can be steep if you are not coming here on a weekday lunch time for their specials, so be prepared. They have a very extensive range of food options from 10 – 25 dollars so just keep that in mind. Love this place though. Will be back.

This was Plan B after balking at the untenable queue at MEW. Perhaps a bit unfair, as Hanbat would be a 4-star place in many other districts, but not in K-Town, sorry. Not when you have places like Don’s Bogam, BCD, Cho Dang Gol or even Arang a stone’s throw away. For me, this was just a 3 on food, though we appreciated the lack of wait. The banchan was quite good, with a nice sampling of pickled goodies. There was also a raw egg served with it, which made for a nice drop into my tofu stew. However, the menu was poorly and inconsistently labeled and the prices were unjustifiably higher than comparable-quality place sprinkled along 32nd Street. The Yook Gae Jang was really mediocre and super-stingy on the beef(I counted maybe 4 or 5 tiny shreds). Bad lunch value for the neighborhood. My buddy’s tofu stew was also rather bland. Once we added hot sauce, we were in business, at least for a while. Still, Hanbat can tide you over if you can’t get to Don’s for lunch, and if you must go, you should probably stick with bi bim bab.
