This place isn’t even worth a star. They tell you that you have to tip 20% which is ridiculous in a nail shop. All she did was my feet and didn’t even do that great of a job. They don’t sanitize their tools from what I can see.

I have been to Joy Nails for a while now and they do a very good job! Kay is the owner and she does my shellac. I think she is the only one that can do gel/shellac which can become in issue if she is busy with other customers. That’s why I have to call ahead of time. The other ladies provides good customer service and are very friendly. I have meetings in the area so they know I have time constraints.

Clean, convenient and good located. My first choice in the neighborhood. I visited this spot twice so far and I believe I’ll come back. They open at 9:30, so I can have my nails done by 9:50. $ 10 manicure + tip in cash(if possible). Fair enough.

After desperately needing to get my acrylics off I made a spur of the moment decision to run into Joy. I was greeted and said I needed my acrylics off. The lady took a file and started filing away. She definitely filed more than just the acrylic, when she realized this was taking too long she got out a metro card and slid if under the acrylic nail to rip off the acrylic. Painful and super unsanitary and cannot be good for the already weak natural nail. She continued with all the rest of the nails and the metro card. She pushed my cuticles back and huffed when all done. Finally she painted my nails with the gel, suggested a darker color and we were off. She did a really good job on the paint job! After 5 days my cuticles are still bleeding as well… Definitely would not go back though.

Hit or miss for basic manicures depending on who you get but I have to say, the absolute best in customer service and pricing. I think that the manager and Rosa are both very nice and great at their jobs.

Got the spa pedicure; definitely a longer and better leg/foot massage than I’ve probably ever gotten. Quiet, clean, humble.

Never again! Got a gel manicure that started to chip the next day. The girl doing my nails must have been new or clueless she had to keep asking her co workers on how to do the gels. Very sloppy job. Did not even last 1 week

Awful. The woman who runs this shop is rude and inexperienced. I came in for normal tips yesterday and asked for the pointy stylish ones but it wasn’t until she was halfway through did I realize she had no clue how to do them. You would think they’ve caught up with changing times but no. She did a horrible job. Then there was a miscommunication with the price! I was beyond pissed. Paid more for nails I didn’t even like. Never going back.

This place is a neighborhood staple. Prices are decent and the technicians are very close-knit, friendly and super nice. Neighborhood women bring their moms, daughters, and friends and they are welcomed like family.

Popped in for a shallac manicure. Given it was lunch time, Saturday I expected a wait — pleasantly surprised I was seated straight away. Johana was my technician, who did a very good job. They also had free wifi, which kept my husband happy for the 30mins we were there. I’ve read other comments on Unilocal which said a fair few places were pushy on tips(eg 20%) I never felt this at joy nails — paid my tip and off I went, with all the ladies saying good bye and wishing us a lovely day.

This was a great find– had a limited time for a pedicure during my lunch break– still received a full spa treatment with a perfect pedicure. Didn’t feel rushed at all despite being on a time-crunch. Great people-watching looking out onto 7th Ave while letting nails dry, too. It is on the 2nd floor– very easy to get to.

Quick service, reasonable prices, shoulder rub at the end? Was in the area with some time to kill so I got a spa pedicure and my feet look and feel great now. Very nice ladies there too. You should go if you’re around penn station!

This is my go to mani pedi place during my lunch hour. They are walk in friendly and there is usually little to no wait when I go during my lunch hour early in the week. I’ve never had a bad experience here, but I’ve had better mani/pedis elsewhere and have been to cleaner salons that offer more services(hence the 3 stars). They have the standard OPI and Essie colors and their job on your nails is usually pretty good. I have no complaints this place but I’m not sure I would ever do anything more than a mani pedi here. If you aren’t high maintenance, picky, sensitive, or require more than just a mani pedi, this is your place.

Was in the area and decided to try out this nail salon. Had an awful experience. The lady did a very fast bad job and I left almost crying, had to go to another nail salon the next day to fix what was done. Not your best nail salon choice.

I needed a quick pedi during lunch and Joy Nails fit the bill. Walking up the stairs seems a little horror movie, but once you arrive at Joy’s door 1 flight up you enter a bright space. They did a pretty good job, not the best pedicure I’ve ever had, but it served it’s purpose and lasted a few weeks. They even give you a little shoulder rub while you are drying. If you’re in the area and need a nail place, this is a good choice.

I went last week with a couple of co-workers for some lunch time mani’s. One of my co-worker is a regular and swears by their $ 10 mani’s… hell $ 10? Why not right? So we go around 1pm on a friday… the place was moderately full. pretty clean looking and well lit. Nothing fancy or spa like. The ladies weren’t particularly friendly… «Manicure? Pedicure? Yes? No? Yes? No? Well??» Geez ladies… keep your nails on…(minus half a star) I wanted to get a pedicure but the deal wasn’t quite as good as the manicure($ 20 for pedi). So I went for the mani. The girl I had didn’t speak much English… demanded the money right after my hands were all lotion-ed up… I mean, I know you should pay before the paint but she was a little pushy… I didn’t have cash on me that day and she sighed rather loudly when I handed her a credit card. Then she basically stated«Tip in cash!»(Guess I don’t have a choice… minus 1 star) The manicure was okay. She was a little too aggressive with my hands and she made my thumb cuticle bleed a little bit. I’m all for quick and efficient, but don’t make me bleed, okay lady?(minus a BIG star) The paint job was quick, fast and even. Ive lasted about 6 days before my first chip(Picked an OPI color).(gain half a star…) I’ll probably give them another shot because they are right around the corner from my office and the prices are decent. But I’m definitely going to opt for another technician…

I told the(very friendly and helpful) women at Joy that I had to make a train at Penn Station and they worked really hard to get me out on time. One person did my toes and another did my nails. I don’t usually come to this part of town but I would definitely go back to Joy if I ever need another pre-train mani-pedi. Pros: They were fast and efficient, but also nice. They went out of their way to get me out in time for my train. The salon is right near Penn Station. They have a surprisingly great polish selection — lots of colors, including new colors. Cons: My fingernails only lasted 4 days before getting chipped.(My toes are still going strong a week and a half later though.) The salon décor is very no frills. Also it is up a flight of stairs so not very accessible for any folks with mobility issues.

Located on the 2nd floor of the building, the only way you would find it is by the signage outside the entrance or by looking up! I was desperate for a manicure, as always, by my job and walked into the sign on the sidewalk. Ambience is more like a 2 out 5 stars for the worn walls and the humid room, but the manicure itself wasn’t too bad. The technician did a good job cleaning, buffing, shaping and painting my nails. The manicure came out to $ 10. It’s a great spot to get a quickie… manicure that is!
