Smelled pizza dough and marinara sauce from the sidewalk… HECKYEAH I’M COMIN’ IN! Décor: front portion of the restaurant was a grab & go pizza section and the back had dine-in service. Honestly felt like I was in the presence of the old time NYC Italians(if you know what I mean) #mobsters Food: Only got one slice; a small margarita Sicilian slice. Simple; delicious sauce, not too dough-y, and ended on a great note with a delicious and crispy crust. I also peeped some cannoli behind the counter but decided against it… I know right, why? Staff was friendly, and I think I met the owner, lol. Definitely coming back for more!

Vile in every way… Pizza is gross as are the employees in both cleanliness and attitude. They make obscene comments about customers in Spanish(which I understand). The place is dirty and the pizza is not good.

I like this place. I really do Midtown East shuts down ridiculously early except for the stupid frat boy and woo-woo, LI girl bars I can always count on J&T’s to be open and deliver when I get home after midnight. The pizza is good, really addictively good. Reminds me of «My Little Pizzeria» in Brooklyn Heights that I resisted for too long, I can and have devoured a pie on my own. It is not world class, just damn good.

I sit in back for dinner from time to time. One of the best Italian rest on the East Side. Great red sauce! Classic dishes done well. Warm, fresh bread and friendly service. I recommend!

Worst customer service ever! The owner yelled at me for checking in, since the delivery was over an hour delayed. Then the delivery boy gave me another earful for a 15% tip. Never ever going to or ordering in from this place ever again.

I was craving something quite late on a weekday and decided on this place because it was next door. Got the take-out. The restaurant itself is actually quite large with a front and back seating area. The back is fancier, and the front is casual with a display case of various items, including awesome pizzas. 1. Spaghetti with meatballs: Wow did this hit the spot. They heated it up when I got here to pick up my food so it was piping hot when I got home. Two large hearty meatballs on a bed of al dente spaghetti. The order came with a large baguette, which was perfect for dipping in the marinara sauce. 2. Pepperoni knots: These were decent, but I wish I got the garlic knots. Those would have been amazing. In any case, they can get food ready within 15 minutes, so it’s great for delivery or takeout. Their food is solid Italian and very reasonably priced for New York. Order online through Unilocal.Super easy.

horrible service!!! the man behind the counter has a horrible attitude. heated up the wrong pizza and yells at me for his mistake. this would have been my first time trying this restaurant; but based on their service i didnt even proceed with my order. customer service is everything and this is why john and tonys pizza does not have customers.

Disgusting! That describes both their food and their customer service. I ordered late night delivery and instead got a yelling delivery boy complaining about his 15% tip as well as a pizza which was missing about half of its toppings. Ridiculous and frustrating! If they don’t want to do late night deliveries then they shouldn’t, but this kind of service is disgusting.

Upon a few recent visits, the customer service sucks. We asked for an extra napkin, and the waiter replied«but you already have some». Fail. Probably not going back anytime soon. Plus the portions are a bit less and a bit more expensive.

Slow delivery for just an average pizza. Pretty disappointed in thin crust mozzarella and basil — I’ve had better in hotel restaurants. There are tons of pizza joints so I won’t be visiting this one again. On to the next one…

Ordered garlic knots which were so good but sadly could not say the same for my eggplant parm hero or the meatball hero– very disappointing was hoping it would be a great neighborhood spot– but, i had to peel the flattened dry eggplant off the sandwich and just ate the bread with the sauce(which was good).

Pretty average food, but at least prices are relatively reasonable. I got a personal pizza with mushrooms and sausage for $ 12.50(it’s cheaper if you pick their own combos), and it was by far one of the cheapest options in this area for late night delivery! There wasn’t anything too special about the pizza, but it did its job. Took about 20 minutes and I ended up picking it up since I was nearby.

Don’t know about the food. I ordered hours ago, Called to find out what was going on — he said«but you live so far» That was the excuse! Don’t put your restaurant on if you unable to deliver to the Upper East Side! Simple!

Love John and Tony’s pizza. I mean, seriously the best sauce ever. Garlic knots are decent, mozzarella sticks aren’t so great but they’re a pizza joint. And pizza they get right!!!

I’ve been coming here for yeeaaarrss and hey, I always come back! The italian restaurant side is really where this place shines– old style home cooking kinda place, full of character and old New York kinda vibe. It’s no thrills in that sense but the food is solid as hell so what more do you want? Big fan of the penne alla vodka here, though the chicken francese is also pretty damn solid. The garlic knots are A++ spot on as well. I don’t know, this is just a solid, low profile italian joint.

Ordered delivery. It came really quickly and wow, was the food delicious. I’ve had pizza there and it’s solid. But this time I ordered baked ziti with meatballs. The tomato sauce was perfect with a light tang and delicate sweetness. The cheesy was the exact right amount of gooey without being gloppy. And the meatballs were delish! It was a great delivery experience. Given that I had just sprained my ankle, I was in dire need of some comfort food and this fit the bill! Brian V enjoyed it so much, he had seconds and then thirds!

Old school trattoria under the Queensboro bridge. Three specialty pies and some garlic knots were about $ 70. The crew I was hosting was pleased with the quality, especially the veggie pie. Garlic knots were real tasty. Not fancy, but clean restaurant. Not sure how long its been around, but its got a real authentic New York Italian quality about it.

The pizza here is pretty good – better than a lot of places in the area but not worth going far out of your way for. They’re open later than some places in the area which is also a plus. Alright, enough about the slice joint up front. Let’s talk about the trattoria in the back of the space, the né plus ultra neighborhood Italian spot. We’re talking red checkered table clothes, candles, and Sinatra. The prices are reasonable, the service is great, and the food is at least as good as my nonna’s cooking.* After my fiancée and I came here once, we returned a few weeks later and the proprietor remembered us and gave us the same table we’d had before. You really do feel like a member of the family when you eat here. ______________ *My «nonna» isn’t Italian – we call her«bubbe» but you get the idea.

«I think we’ve found our new favorite pizza place.» My best friend’s enthusiasm may have been perhaps exaggerated, but it is certainly not exaggerated to say that John and Tony’s Trattoria Caffe is a diamond in the rough in this rather neglected looking section of the Upper East Side. The transformation from the tourist traps of Dylan’s Candy Bar and Serendipity as you walk towards 1st Avenue on 60th Street is abrupt, and many might be inclined to turn and run back to the safety of 3rd Avenue to satisfy their pizza cravings at Patsy’s. Those who do would be making a mistake; admittedly, I haven’t been to that particular location, but the downbeat reviews elsewhere on Unilocal were enough to convince me to look elsewhere, and I’m glad I did. If you enter the 60th Street side of JTTC, you’ll be greeted by the sight of a homey if unremarkable red sauce Italian restaurant kind of scene, red-and-white checked tablecloths, mostly melted candle jars and all. A waiter immediately came by to urge us to take any table we wished in the literally empty seating area, and then he disappeared for a while. Most of the action in this place is in the pizzeria section in the front, so you’ll have to wave a lot to get the waitstaff’s attention when they might happen to be in sight. We had an order of garlic knots, as delectable as noted by other reviewers here — they came hot from the oven, shiny with olive oil, soft and garlicky little balls of bread with an outside crust that could put some bagels to shame. As our main, my friends and I ordered a large pizza margherita, and two of my friends also got the goat cheese salad to share. Every one of us, when we bit into the pizza that arrived at our table fresh from the oven, were stunned. How do you get tomatoes to be that insanely flavorful and juicy unless you just got them from your own home garden? How, in spite of that juiciness and the gorgeous amalgamation with mozzarella and garlic on top, do you manage to keep the crust that perfectly crisp and delicious? I don’t think I’ve ever been as impressed by pizza margherita like that at any other Italian pizza restaurant I’ve been to. The food is delicious, the ambiance is at once pleasant and comfortable, the service is friendly but a bit spotty. Other things? They bring a wine menu to the table, and they have a limited beer selection too(standards like Budweiser, Heineken, probably Miller and Coors too). This place makes me wish I had more of an excuse to hang out in this section of Manhattan, but it’s worth making up more excuses to come here from Brooklyn.

John & Tony’s reminds me of home on the Jersey Shore. An average pizza parlor with awesome pizza. Living on the cusp of Midtown/Upper East Side I have found it difficult to get that great NY pizza everyone is always bragging about. I was jealous of those people who had great pizza so close. John and Tony’s to the rescue!!! We ordered the chicken buffalo pizza and plain. Both exceeded expectations. The garlic knots were off the charts! We sat in the parlor section, but there is a dining section I would like to check out sometime soon. The only advise I would give is to watch how much they charge you for a slice. I swear I order the same slice every time I walk in and the price changes depending on who is there. Market price pizza? Who knew! Forget Best Pizza On First! John and Tony’s owns first avenue from now on!
