If and when(more often than I care to acknowledge. .. until I see my VISA statement) I order lunch and opt for Chinese, I tend to choose between Grand Sichuan International Eastern, Ginger, and Jing Du. Over the summer I ordered often from Jing Du, and was mostly pleased with the turnout. They have really inexpensive(under $ 10) lunch specials that include an overwhelming(I’m talking ATLEAST two meals) portion of a dish, spring roll/egg roll, and a soda. I liked their version of General Tsao’s Tofu, and also their chow fun noodles with vegetables and tofu. Good spring rolls, quick service. My only complaint is that when you put an order in over the phone, they’re very direct and intense. I don’t blame them, really, especially during the lunch rush, but Ginger and especially Grand Sichuan International Eastern have the most pleasant people answering the phone. If you’re in the area, I highly suggest Jing Du.

Nothing beats good chinese food, except maybe cheap good chinese food. That’s why, for the occasional chinese craving, Jing Du is an excellent solution. The incredible $ 5.95 lunch specials look tempting, although I haven’t made it there for them yet. You see, my chinese cravings always come at dinner time. Nevertheless, even paying a little extra for dinner is still worth coming here. Because the prices are still incredible, the options plentiful, and the tastes fantastic. When it comes to chinese restaurants, you can always find cheaper ones that lack the atmosphere, or more upscale ones that come without the good prices. With its dim lights, mirrors, and beautiful plates, Jing Du offers it all. And by the end of a Jing Du meal, contentment is always guaranteed – no matter how much your fortune cookie ever begs to differ.

I can’t say that I know anything about authentic Chinese food. I only know that this place has reasonable prices for Manhattan and seems to do decent take-out business. Found this place within 1 week of moving here. Continued to eat here because the prices are reasonable and it’s better Chinese food than the fancy Chinese restaurant just ½ a block from our apt. Rather than continue to try expensive and bad Chinese food, we order here 2 times a week because of the price. Everything we’ve ordered — except the lemon chicken — has been tasty. Some of the sauces have been too sweet for my taste, but they’re willing to alter the spiciness of the entrees and the service has always been polite and efficient. You get complimentary hot tea if you’re dining in. Their most expensive entrée is $ 16.00. They have incredible lunch specials. it’s 11:00 — 4:00 p.m. everyday. You get white, fried or brown rice, an entrée and a choice of soups, dumplings or egg roll for no more than $ 5.95. The portions are filling.
