The worst hair salon I’ve ever been to. Avoid by all costs, at least the hairdresser named Clara. In a nut shell: she was extremely rude, and burnt my hair. They smell burnt even after I washed them. She damaged my waist long hair! I came there to talk with manager the evening before. I was very clear on what I wanted — a wavy blow dry on my long hair for the photo shoot. I also told them that I won’t have much time in the morning, 45 min max. So I’m coming there 9am. First, I had to wait. Than for the hair wash she turned the cold water. She pulled a lot of my hair while combing, even though I told her several times that it hurts. She didn’t bother using any styling products either. Then she blow dried them straight with slight curl on the end of my hair. When I stated that I asked for the wavy hair, she started combing them again, straightening them even more with that. When asking her what is she doing, she quite rudely answered me: «just tell me what you want?» By that time i’ve already spend there 45 min. I said again that I wanted wavy hair. She brought curling iron. While curling my hair she was loudly discussing in Spanish what a terrible client I am. Too bad for them, I understand Spanish a little bit. Besides it kinda hard not to understand, when they are looking at you and saying something like“La Señorita!”. After she finished my hair were smelling like something burnt! And by myself I almost never use any heat on my hair. Instead 45 min, I spent there 90 min. And when I was paying. She started demanding tips. Not asking, demanding! All her hairstyling fell in 30 min. On photo shoot I just pulled my hair in to ponytail. Yes, her work looked that awful. 50 $ for the ponytail. It’s ridiculous! I never ever again going there.

The woman who did my wash and blow out did a great job. However, the salon itself is dirty, no place to hang coats or change and I was given a smock to wear over my clothes that seemed like it had been worn before me. And Tabitha from that bravo show would have a great time here — it needs an intervention

Made an appointment at this salon for a wedding I was going to about one month prior, as this was a holiday weekend. No confirmation of my appointment the day or even one week before, only to find out that the place had closed. I had to find another place the day before the event. No communication and very sketchy as to the whereabouts of the salon. Don’t take the chance of being left high-and-dry! No No No…

Ludmila is the best! She’s cut my hair at least 3 or 4 times now & I’ve never been disappointed. In fact, the last time she cut it was the best haircut I ever had & I’m almost positive it was cause she point-cutted it all throughout. I thought it was a little crazy at first cause when you point cut, the height of your hair becomes UNEVEN. However, the result is awesome cause by having the height uneven, the shorter hairs support the longer hairs so it keeps your hair from falling down. which is perfect for me cause i like to spike it up a bit. Anyways, the point is I’ve been to at least 10 – 15 stylists/barbers in the past 10 years so I’m very happy to find an awesome stylist who knows what she’s doing, takes her time & does it at a very reasonable price. She also did a great job trimming & shaping my beard up the past few times I went. So while I cant speak for the ladies out there,. for men’s haircuts, Ludmila knows her stuff. It’s been 2 weeks since my last cut, and it still looks freshly cut and whether I wet my hair or not, it ‘stays’ up, which is unlike any other cuts I’ve had in the past.

It pains me to give this inferior«chop shop» even one star. Dirty hair in the washing station that I was shown to(ew), a stylist who didn’t follow the instructions I gave her, and a haircut that was so unflattering that I had to go to another salon immediately after. The new salon(Blondi’s on Broadway near 106th Street) did an amazing job. I got a cut that looked modern and was very flattering. I would say avoid it at all costs

Easily top 5 worst haircuts. Not to say all the stylists there are bad, but I think it’s definitely one of those first-job-out-of-hair-school places. Same with the guy that cut my hair. Once I was past the point of no return with his first clipper run, I noticed that his cosmetology license was issued Jun 1. So his month of practice has certainly not made perfect. I noticed a few hairs that were missed on the side and said it was a little uneven and he told me, «it’s actually probably the shape of your head, sorry». I’m going to have to pay to have this fixed in a couple weeks. Too short to do it today

Well, I just got a hair cut there and one of the employees dropped a metal bottle right on my ankle bone, with the edge of the bottle hitting sharply against the bone. She didn’t say anything. I said something to her and she ignored me… I said something else, and she ignored me. So I spoke to the manager about this employee(who I found out was Natalia, w/red hair). The manager apologized for her behavior.

Surprised there are bad reviews. I walked in, didn’t wait even a minute and had a great service. My shampoo was fantastic! Great massage and very relaxing. My blow dry was excellent. I have long, thick hair and the stylist did an excellent job. It was more than fairly priced. One of the least expensive blow drys I have ever received and it was great! Really happy with my service. The salon feels a bit dated but the quality of the service was well worth the sacrifice of a pretty salon with a so so service.

unfortunately, it was not the lovely experience I had in Paris… you truly do get what you pay for. Firstly, the place is filthy, secondly, my «stylist» either did not speak English, or was surly and chose not to respond to anything I said, never mind ask me what I wanted… advise: avoid!

It all depends on who is your stylist. The best are Berta, big Marina, and little Marina. Very good pricing.

I have been going here for years, and it’s quite busy. I use a wonderful sylist on my hair Ludwilla. She is reliable and consistent and knows how to cut. She is the sylist Michael P is referring to. If you want a spa experience this isn’t the place for you, but if you want a good cut and out the door, at a very reasonable price, see Ludwilla. This is for guys only.

I’m reaally suprised of all the bad reviews… I had this european lady cut my hair(i think she was from the ukraine, maybe her name was Luna?) Anyways. whatever her name was, she did a fantastic job on my hair! She basically looked at the shape of my head & goes to work. didn’t have to explain anything to her, she pretty much just did her thing & it may have been the best haircut i ever got! Nothing like a stylist that could just look at you & know exactly what style haircut is gonna look good & the price was also really good for a cut in the city. 5 stars & I’m definitely going back. I just gotta remember her name lol

I’ve been getting shampoos and haircuts here since 2007, always with Andy, who works here on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. I’ve always been very satisfied. The price is the lowest I’ve seen in the area, I can walk in without an appointment, and I like the way Andy cuts my hair. I want to be able to just«wash and wear» my hair, without any fuss, and it looks good both right after he cuts it and a long time afterwards. Andy is always pleasant to be with. The people at the desk are friendly and efficient, and I’ve never had to wait long.(Even though there are no appointments, I sometimes call before I walk over there and tell them I’m on my way). I also like the fact that Andy has been working there for years, so now that I’ve found someone I like, I can keep coming back to him. The facilities are comfortable but not luxurious — but I wouldn’t expect a fancy setting for the price. I’ve never witnessed anyone hot-tempered at this place, though I’ve mainly only dealt with Andy and the reception people. Harriet Bograd

Good price but attitudes vary and you can get a nice easy going, good, friendly person to do your hair but more often than desired you get a hot tempered hair dresser who washes your hair in a rush, gets you wet, complains when you complain, and tries to blow dry your hair with very hot air that burns your scalp. She then turns to her neighbor to ask that she finishes the job because you dared to mention the scalp was hot. There is no supervision and no complaints are ever accepted.

This place kind of sucks. The salon itself is pretty worn down, they were running about 20min behind, the woman who cut my hair didn’t really speak that much english, and I had to do quite a bit of touch up when I got home. Definitely not worth the $ 50 I spent.

In hopes of Upper West Side location would be better than other typical Jean Louis Daivd… wrong! They’re all the same. Same abrasive service, same hot tempered attitudes as I sit and wait for my former love to have his hair cut I stumbled to the typical brutal New York attitude. The woman who cut my former love’s hair, of course, used a electric razor to buzz the side of his temple. My former love was satisfied with his unruling $ 49.00 bill of a buzz cut via razor, amid to each their own.

«Hi, do you cut men’s hair?» «Certainly, have a seat. How would you like your hair cut?» «Texture the top, natural fade in the back, and I like to have the sides short but cut scissor over comb, not with a razor and guard.» «Sorry, you can’t do that. If you want the sides short, we have to use the razor.» «Really? But the last 5 hair dressers I’ve had over the past 5 years have all been able to do that.»(One eyebrow raised) «I’m sorry, but you can’t do that. You have to use the razor.»(Disapproving look on her face) «Really?»(Both eyebrows raised now) «Really.»(With a completely straight — and still disapproving — face) Hmmph. If I wanted to get a haircut by number, I would have just gone to the local barber. Plus, this makes me skeptical that you really, truly do know how to cut men’s hair. I’m just glad I didn’t stick around to find out.
