I walked in without an appointment and was taken quickly, I got an awesome blow out, lasted a few days. My only compliant is that they advertise a blow out for $ 35 and I played close to $ 50. My hair isn’t long, it’s a little below shoulder. For $ 35 it would have been my go-to blow out place once a week but still a decent place for emergencies.

I started going to Anthony about four years ago at this salon with possibly the worst haircut imaginable. With his patience and talent he was able to make me feel comfortable enough to allow him to do whatever he felt nessesary. Since then I have only seen him for my haircuts, and with his talent and with the at home prdducts he gave me my hair had never been better. So when I found out that Anthony had left, I was very disappointed. However with the help of the internet I have found him at a great place called Red Market Salon. Not only am I happy to once again have Anthony doing my hair again but this place is so warm and inviting…

I passed by one day and honestly wondered if someone in this salon would know how to deal with my long curly hair and sure enough I met Mala, one of their sweetest hairstylists. I was so surprisingly content with the results, both versions of straight and wavy sets, that I recommended her to several of my coworkers. I am glad to say both my coworkers have gone to her a few times already as they were also pleased with her work. The best part is they take appointments and you are actually seen from the minute you walk in and leave in less than 1 hour’s work lunch time. This is by far so much better than my neighborhood salons where I made an appointment for 10am and leave at 1pm the earliest and am succumbed by loud music and rowdy clients. At JCB you are put in a massaging chair while your hair gets washed and then right on to the hairstylist’s chair. It has low good music and videos playing on their multiple tv screens and offer you water and/or coffee while you get beautified. You cannot ask for anything better if you are like me always on a timeframe. The reason I gave it a 4 star instead of a 5 star is because while you can use your credit/bank cards for payment you always have to remember to have CASH for tipping.

Had an up do done before a wedding here. The stylist was a sweet little french woman and extremely friendly and kind. She did an AMAZING job on both me and my friend. Highly recommend

Believe the negative reviews. The manager here could not be any ruder if she tried. I had a 10:45 apt today and was informed the stylist had called in sick. Umm… aren’t you supposed to plan for such contingencies!?? This is your business!!! Then when I said that this was an issue since I needed to be at a meeting at a certain time, she tells me «well all ny salons run at least 15 mins late». Whaaaattt??? No, they don’t. Miraculously, a stylist showed up and proceeded to wash/blow. Probably one of the worst blow dries I’ve ever received. And I’ve been getting my hair blown out 2−3x a week for the last 20 years. Everyone here argues with you. For ex: I never put product in my hair. Stylist insisted that I «needed» it. Rather than argue, I was like fine whatever. Now I have a bad blow dry with hair that is sticky. Seriously. STICKY. Oh, also… halfway through the blowout, they decide they’re understaffed yet again and try and reassign the woman doing my hair to someone else. I almost wish they had. Ugh. Save you $$$$ and go elsewhere. Unless you want bad hair and get really bad attitude.

I started to get my hair styled by Rima about two months ago. Rima recently moved to this location and I decided to follow her because no one has ever cut my hair like she did! My hair is really long and every stylist I have ever met has told me that I can only do long layers. Well, Rima has given me the best layers ever! My hair has so much movement now and it does not feel heavy at all! I love that she wasn’t afraid of my very long and thick hair, best haircut ever !!! I got so many compliments already, I guess it’s true what they say… French do it better!!! By the way, Rima also does makeup which I love cause it is so convenient specially when I have an event and I really need all that glam!

Popped in and was told 5 min till I’m seen. 10 min. in I notice the stylist that’s to blow dry my hair is no where near done and won’t be for awhile. OK, they get me another stylist, who was told by myself and the receptionist that I’m in a rush. She proceeds to wash my hair for 15 minutes rather roughly I might add. Then the blow dry– ok but not great. And the kicker they charged $ 47 vs. the $ 35 advertised in the window. My hair is touching my shoulders not below them. Keep walking over to 6th Ave to Jean Louis David, a much better blow dry for a fraction of the cost.

Be careful. This place has very unclear pricing system. They keep adding extra cost to the menu without explaining it upfront. I went in for a hair treatment but at the end, they charged me for washing and drying my hair as well. The bill was almost double the price of the original price for the hair treatment. Apparently you are expected to walk out with wet hair if you just want to pay for the hair treatment. Come on. Seriously? The manager was not there to explain, so I left my number but of course the manager never called back. The girl works there kept telling me «We have bad owner and it is out of our control». Not much to say after that statement… — — – I got in touch with the manager after few attempts. Wow she was the worse. She blamed me for not understanding their pricing system. Her whole tone was very unprofessional. Apparently she has worked there for 6 years. I would conclude this place has ZERO understanding of customer service.

Anthony gives the best blow out in NYC — I’ve seen him a few times, been to many places — and that’s it, Anthony is the best. Whether you want a casual blowout or event style locks(red carpet looks) he delivers!!!

I was a regular for many years. i kept coming back for my colorist and stylist. I walked in one day to inquire about availability and found out that the stylist left at 5:30. The person at the front desk was so rude. Thankfully, I was able to see my colorist, Adele, at her new salon, La Piscine, in the upper east side. The rude demeanor and the change in staff hours has completely turned me off to ever returning to this salon. Who the heck stops seeing clients just after 5 in NYC?! I guess they don’t want to serve anyone who has to actually go to work. Oh well, their loss… they’ve lost a longtime client

This place is awful, just awful. I came here b/c it’s right next door to work and I was in desperate need of a blowout for the night. But I am never coming back here again as the place is depressing and I had the most unpleasant experience with Orlando. He yanks and pull, is quite rough and his fingers would run into my face quite a bit. It’s such a shame b/c the place has nice massage chairs for shampoos and it would have been lovely to sneak away from work and decompress for a little bit.

Recently, I decided to get a haircut but did not make an appointment. I wandered around Midtown and discovered Jean Claude Biguine. I was concerned that the salon appeared so empty. It was a Saturday and I would have expected more clients. The reason I am giving 4 stars to this Salon is one person — Vizma. She did an excellent job on my hair. I told her that I wanted a bob but that I didn’t know what kind of bob. She took me to a mirror and suggested some styles and I agreed to one and went with it. The bob was formed the way she suggested and I liked it. The true test was when I went into work. Wow — the compliments kept going throughout the day! I was not expecting that. What I liked about the bob that Vizma styled was that it was a soft bob and even though it was subtle, it really stood out. She didn’t cut off too much hair, just right for the cut. Vizma was good at listening to my input and incorporating her experience into the final cut. Again, I still cannot believe I received so many compliments to the hair cut. I would highly recommend anyone to see Vizma. I will agree with other reviewers that the price is ridiculous. However, with the fabulous job that Vizma did, I’m able to forgive the salon.

I ran to the Jean Claude Biguine salon near my office for a last minute blow out. They have a sign in the window for a $ 35 blow dry. The place was closer than Dry Bar(where I always go) and it open so I thought I would try it. Service was average(nothing special), but the price was ridiculous! The blow out was fine — good, but not great. The salon is okay too, but no environment like dry bar. The real shock was the price! When I went to pay it was $ 47! I asked why it wasn’t the $ 35 deal and he said it was for short hair and pointed to a woman with 3″ hair! Seriously if your hair is that long and you can’t do it yourself you have bigger issues. I told them they are more expensive than Dry Bar and not half as nice. Seriously I am never cheating on dry bar again! I’d rather spend the $ 10 bucks on a cab there than go back to this place! Save yourself the money — the convenience factor isn’t worth it.

I would have loved to comment on their service. Today was a brisk Thursday morning, and with early hours and a kid at home, I hate to take my weekends to «do me.» So my good friend does a great job at a blow dry… so I thought, why don’t I get this crispy ends trimmed on my way in to work and get my blow dry later? Simple right? Seems like a $ 20 — $ 25 dollar price tag to me. However, when you have an advertisement on the window plain as day that saya«$ 26 dollar, Shampoo AND Blow-Dry» and you walk in asking for a trim of your ends WHILEDRY… and I KNOW she heard me… unless the receptionist was not a 3rd dimensional thinker to really THINK about the logic of her answer beforehand… chick quotes me $ 50.00??? For NO shampoo, blow dry or style — REALLY? Just trim these ends for me and I’m out in 20 minutes? Really? Buh bye…(hears door close behind me) smh One star for the brand… ZERO stars for the service. Maybe I’ll return for the $ 26.00 dollar deal… but highly doubt it, really turned off by this morning.

Mondays and Tuesdays they have a shampoo+blowout special for just $ 29. I came here on a non-Special day(it was a thursday) and the associate was very thorough and professional. The shampoo + blowout on this day, with tip, came out to about $ 60. It’s just a block from where I work so the convenience factor is definitely a big plus. The ambience is very clean and inviting and because the service tends to be a little more pricey than the Jean Louis David’s all over the city, there isn’t a lot of riff-raff in the store clogging up the wait times which I appreciate.
