I would give this place 3 ½ stars. Service was rather slow and the food was mediocre. I got the Chicago dog. I think shake shack has a better one(love the hot peppers they use) but the poppy seed bun was a nice touch. The overall taste was a little bland. The two people I was with go the pulled pork. Similar feelings towards it. Portions are really big and it isn’t terrible for bar food. However, the fries and homemade chips were DELICIOUS. They know how to make good fries — waffle fries and spicy curly fries Ambiance is fun to watch a sports game or hang out with friends. Would still go back again.

If I could give a lower star I would. everything at this bar is WEAK. The hot wings tasted sweet, less spicy than mild wings I’d get at another bar. And the drinks are a waste of money, the bartender seems to think that gin and tonic means tonic soda and a lime… I’d be surprised if they didn’t water down their wines and beers. Horrendous atmosphere, never coming back.

This place was definitely not what I was expecting, it was so much better! Much bigger on the inside than it looks, always has a crowd and the beer towers are an awesome deal! My new hang out spot to pop in and grab some drinks

Not into it. I’ve been to this bar three times recently, since my friend lives near and swears by this place. I wasn’t impressed any of the times. The drinks are so ridiculously weak– and at a standard $ 8– I expect to get drunk and not spend $ 60 to feel the exact same as when I walked in, just with a fuller bladder. I go to bars a lot and have never had to complain to a bartender, but my whiskey coke was JUST coke. I even had my friends try it, and they all agreed there was no whiskey in it. The waitress said the bartender wouldn’t change it, so I went up to her myself with a tip. I asked very nicely and with a smile and she rolled her eyes and poured a little bit of whiskey in it, giving me so much attitude and then telling me she doesn’t want the tip. Rude! Please check your customer service. I’m a polite young girl, I in no way had a malicious tone. I just didn’t want to pay $ 8 for flat Diet Coke. Every time I’ve been here, the bartenders have serious attitude. Maybe they see that my friends and I are young and expect us not to tip? Jokes on them, because we’re all very generous tippers? Even for crappy bartenders like them. I just don’t understand. They can’t make drinks, and they are not friendly. At all. I don’t appreciate getting eye rolled after ordering a drink. And my friends get the same treatment. The wings also sucked. The hot wings aren’t hot and they taste like they came out of a bag and were quickly defrosted. Unless you’re getting beer towers or Long Island iced teas like my friends did, don’t even bother. The menu is cool and not as typical as other bars, and there is a pool table in the back and skeeball and electronic beer pong. This bar would be really cool if the bartenders didn’t suck. I won’t be returning unless I had pregamed prior.

Solid sports bar in Yorkville. I have been coming here for years, and it still serves as a good option for catching any sporting event. Televisions are everywhere — front, back, and even in the booths. It is clutch if you can grab a booth because they give you the remote control for your TV. There is a lot of space with plenty of seating, including a large bar in the front. There are also some games(arcade, pool, foosball, etc.) to keep you entertained. The food menu is pretty good, and it mostly comprises of your standard bar items. They also serve hot dogs and a monstrosity of co-mingled ingredients known as the, «garbage pail.» Somewhat random yet true, but I really like their turkey club with spicy curly fries. There is an additional brunch menu available on the weekends, but I have not tried it. Full bar in stock for the alcohol enthusiasts. They have beer towers, which come in handy when sharing libations with a group. I recommend checking it out. I know I will be back again sometime in the near future.

Jack Russels NY Manhattan UES 10pm Saturday 14th Saturday 2015 Four Stars This is a great pub to have an inexpensive drink and watch some sports. Each booth has its own TV with a Remote so you can control your Ocular destiny. There were plenty other TVs to watch the madness of Saturday Night a college Football. I even found D2 The Mighty Ducks where Gordon Bombay and his misfit crew of Americans and Internationals take on team Iceland for junior world championship. No Coors Light but Bud Light in a can or on draft.

I completely agree with everyone who criticized the management at this bar. for background, I have been coming to jack russels almost weekly for the last year. I come because it is the closest bar to my apartment that let’s me watch my hometown favorite sports team(I am not from nyc originally). tonight I had the worst bar experience of my life and will never be coming back. I came to watch my favorite teams home opener, which happened to be during the world series. I was screamed at and swore at all night by other customers for not have the game on(while a bad experience this was not the main issue). I expressed my concerned to the manager Aldo, whom I know personally. he simply said«this is new york. people are asswholes.» and did not talk to to the drunk belligerent customers at all. I later talked to the manager again and calmy expressed my feelings about my mistreatment. instead of apologizing, he again said this is new york and I should expect people to be asswholes every on e and a while. Aldo, I’m sorry I refuse to be treated like a second class citizen but I will never be coming back and would recommend to anyone to avoid this bar. Mannys and East End are alternatives with a staff that places much more value on its customer experience.

I can’t choose whether I want to watch football, basketball, or hockey, and half the time I do settle on one sport, there are a couple games going on that I want to watch simultaneously. Instead of having a complete meltdown over what to watch, Jack Russell conveniently has a ton of screens with different games on, with the additional individual screen inside the booth that I can customize to my choosing. The food is barely decent, but the service is great. And again, THESCREENS!!!

Decent sports bar in Yorkville with ample seating(holla at the comfortable booths!) and standard bar fare. Tons of screens(both large and small) to watch games if you’re into that, and if you’re reading this you probably are. I came here to celebrate a birthday on a Saturday night and was impressed by the spaciousness of the place. It also wasn’t unbelievably noisy, which was nice for a large group looking to drink and chat. Food is a little pricey for what it is, but not bad at all. I enjoyed my plate of wings, so no complaints!

Stopped into Jack Russell’s after getting dinner around the corner. It was about 9:00pm and the place had a decent crowd. The bartender was great. We didn’t get any food here but i’d come back purely based on the vibe. The crowd was mainly people around the mid to late 20’s playing some of their video games and drinking beer towers. Had a great time for the half hour we popped in. I’d definitely pop back here in the furture.

My girlfriend and I went to Jack Russell’s to watch the All-Star Game and had one of the worst experiences I’ve had in Yorkville. The fries we ordered were so burned we had to return them(first time I’ve ever done that), and the AC was leaking from the ceiling, dripping into her purse, on her, and all over the seat. We also received seven tiny fried cheese balls, and while they weren’t terrible, it definitely wasn’t enough food for $ 10. When we explained the water situation to the waitress as we were leaving, she simply said«OK.» We got a similar response when we said the fries were inedible. Between the food and the service, I will absolutely not go back. If you’re looking for a sports bar, I suggest you go to Manny’s on Second or Supply House.

I love Jack Russell’s, the only reason for the four-star rating is that it an be a hit or miss in terms of the crowd. Sometimes it’s completely dead, other times it’s lively and full of fun people. In terms of service, I’ve always had great experiences. The drinks are worth the price and the food is delicious. The music is always great and the games and there’s something for everyone. You can sit at the bar, one of the long tables, a booth, or enjoy the games in the back. This is a particularly great spot for the Super Bowl.

This place is getting four stars on account of the fact that there is a pool table and a beer pong arcade game. Didn’t know that was a thing, but apparently it is, and it’s awesome. Losing a star because the bar was completely dead, but then again it was a Wednesday night during the summer so I wouldn’t count this place out as being more fun on a Thurs-Sat.

Stopped in because I was starving and they didn’t let me down. My buddy ordered wings, they looked great. I ordered the loaded skins and they did not disappoint one bit. I then ordered a bacon cheese burger with avocado and sautéed onions. This burger required chili fries, hand cut, of course and I could not finish it. We arrived right on time because some sports teams came in(after their game). I love the televisions in each booth, complete with a remote control. I’m going back and I’m gonna EAT! Oh, the server was great also, nice smile and super pleasant.

I have to start by saying I worked in the restaurant industry for over 7 years and 2 years as a restaurant manager. I have been a loyal customer to Jack Russell’s for the 2 years that I have lived in NYC. I always had a great time and the staff has always been very accommodating. I ended up going in this evening and my latest experience may have turned me away forever. The server was very nice and did a great job of being attentive to our table. She was great and nothing of this review has to do with her. As we went to pay we ended up waiting 45 minutes for our cards to come back. Me and one of my friends were charged for the full amount of the bill and then another of my friends was charged 2 times the full check. So we ended up paying 400 bucks for a 100 dollar check. And it took forever to get our cards back. My main issue is not the staff but management. I have been a manager of a restaurant and when issues like this come up you need to keep hot customers in the loop. The manager never came over to us. After 30 minutes of waiting for our cards to come back my friend ended up going to the manager to complain about the issue. He then blamed it on a computer issue and didn’t even apologize for the inconvenience. After another 10 minutes of still no one coming to the table my other friend Approached the manager again and got the same response. Once my second friend went to confront the manager he then came over and offered us a free round. Though this was a nice gesture, it was already past the point of no return. I really loves this place and now after this experience I really don’t think I will be going back. The manager Aldo really did not help our situation and I will not be coming back, sadly. I loved this place but after a night like this I will not be back. Sorry Jack Russell’s!

My experiences here are probably abnormal due to the fact that I only frequent it on weekdays. I play in a basketball league during the week around the area and the bar/league offers one free pitcher that incentivizes us to head over there after a win. Only winners get beers. The atmosphere of the place is solid. Plenty of TVs everywhere. They have a ping pong table where you can play beer pong. Always a win. The garbage plate was exciting the first time, but after awhile — you realize any exercise you got playing basketball is instantly negated and you’re probably die at an early age eating it regularly. The best deal on the menu are the hotdogs — where you can get two with cheese, chili, jalepenos with chips on the side for $ 7. Waitresses are cool and accomodating. Prices for food and drink are standard NY prices. I could see it getting obnoxious on the weekends, but good place to be on weekdays.

Holy crap, garbage plate. It’s like a drunk guy sat down and made all the bad shit he could think of and put it together. Cole slaw on the bottom level. Next pile on some mac n cheese. Then throw on some waffle friess. Then throw on some chili, and nacho cheese because why not? Then cut up some hot dogs and throw them on. Boom. Garbage plate. For drunkies. That is… about it.
