I have a love and hate relationship with places which try to serve a lot of different kinds of cuisines. Mostly the food at such places seems to be mediocre. This place is basically divided into two sections. The first section has the bar and few seating available. The section in the back has a lot of seating with good décor. We started off with green tea and ordered age tofu which is basically deep fried tofu and rock shrimps for appetizers. This was my first time having the age tofu but my friend who I dined with knows about age tofu. Tofu was ok but I think it should be served with some kind of flavorful sauce instead of just soy sauce. The rock shrimps were also just ok nothing special. For main course we both had the miso soup ramen with pork. I know how ramen should taste, that what definitely not the authentic version of ramen. The best part of ramen was quantity though broth did not taste like miso at all, also the ramen lacked flavor and was too bland. Service though here was good but we were very disappointed with the food. I don’t think I would be coming back here.

Exceeded expectations! Quickly seated. Quick and attentive service. Sake went good with the Spicy Tuna salad and Dragon roll! I’ll be back to try other items on the menu!

The pork bun appetizer I ordered was really good. The meat was fatty, soft and cooked tender. The spicy tuna salad was underwhelming but the rest of the food was very good. My favorite was the scallop sashimi which was presented great. Also, the décor and atmosphere here cannot be overlooked. The place simply looks amazing with modern furniture and a more upscale ambiance. Finally, I received great service. The waiter was extremely polite and friendly and food was served quickly as well. I would definitely recommend this place.

We came here on a Saturday afternoon(1:30pm) for lunch and the place was pretty empty so we got to pick our table. The décor is modern and hip and it’s a great place for a date. Our waitress was friendly and took our order right away. I ordered the gyoza, green dragon roll, eel roll, and shrimp roll. They were all fine. My girlfriend and her friends ordered various ramen and they liked it a lot. It was less salty than other ramen places we’ve been to and reasonably priced. Total bill for four came to $ 80(including tax and tip) and this is a good place for lunch.

Was walking by and saw this was a newly open ramen place. Excited as I’ve been on the hunt for good ramen after living in Japan for a very long time, we entered. First We had some tea which was delivered in a dirty cup! Then we ordered a couple of rolls but let me just speak about the ramen. Simply put, you should not call yourself a ramen restaurant when your strong point is clearly NOT ramen. The restaurant décor is nice however, spacious and has a good selection of sake. So not a bad restaurant at all, but maybe should consider taking the«ramen» off as one of the main attractions on the menu.

Very good avocado salad(not on the menu, I asked them to add avocado) — not the cheap lettuce most places give, they give real mesclun salad. Modern décor is great, my fiancé and I were one of four tables when we walked in and the only table when we walked out– so they need to do some advertising/get more people in, but the food and prices are worth it. My roll(I think it was dragon roll– spicy tuna with eel and avocado on the outside) was great. My fiancé got a ramon and he was not impressed. I tried it and it lacked flavor– I definitely do not suggest the ramon. We also got vegetable dumplings that were pretty standard. Because my roll was great, and the décor etc was good, I give it 4 stars. I think it can do well because the prices are reasonable. $ 8.00 large saki too(we got two :))

What a phenomenal experience. Ippin has just opened in the neighborhood, and are offering some amazing deals – up to 50% off drinks and 30% off food. Wow. We sat at the bar, and the staff was very friendly– including the manager, Eddie. Eddie offered some excellent sake suggestions, and even gave us tastes of several different kinds. He was incredibly helpful, and suggested some AMAZING dishes – a beer pork belly(WHAT?!) and a tuna sampler that blew our minds. Their rolls were also delicious, and stood out compared to other Similarly priced joints in the area. I will absolutely be coming back here– for both the food and the awesome hospitality!

I walked past Momofuku and decided not to go in to try their ramen because I heard it was over-rated. So I thought I would try this sparkling new restaurant that had modern décor. The service is decent, but the Shoyu ramen is okay. As a big ramen fan, one of the key components is the quality of the ramen. It was mediocre at best because the ramen used was not the traditional egg based ramen, so I was a bit disappointed. As far as the atmosphere goes, I think it is a decent spot for a small gathering since it’s not overcrowded. However, it can get loud with the top 40’s pop and dance music playing in the background. Had it not been for the mediocre ramen, I would be willing to give the place 4 stars.

This place is definitely up and coming and honestly I was very impressed with my first visit here. I went on a Friday around 1ish when they had the cool specials for 30% off and it was sooo good. For what i’ve paid for other sushi at other places for the same if not more price, it was . Seriously. The sushi had a perfect rice to roll ratio that made my taste buds happy and the price! omg! AMAZING! The customer service was totally up to par. Everyone was so sweet and we got seated promptly. They gave us water immediately and were seriously SUPER tentative, it was amazing! After our meal the manager popped by to say hi. He is So cool. Seriously such a chill guy. I will definitely be back in the future and will totally recommend this place to my friends. I’m very excited for this new sushi restaurant right around the corner. Enjoy!

New spot just opened and replaced Bibimbar. This is a nice looking venue with pricey ramen at $ 13 – 15. I got the Tan Tan which tasted more like a beef broth vs a spicy n fatty broth, hehe. Was just ok. Luckily they had a 30% off grand opening discount.

For the most part, you get what you pay for(or at least that’s the hope). Sometimes you get less, but every once in a long while you get more. This is one of the latter and why it gets a rare five stars. It doesn’t mean it’s the best ever, just a rare treat where you get much more than expected. I tried this place out today and for the first time, in a long while, I was more than pleasantly surprised. The prices were reasonable as were my expectations, but those expectations were more than met. We were greeted right away and the chefs themselves were quick to greet us from behind the prep area in the dining room(the front is the bar). They started us off with some well-balanced pickled cabbage to pick on as we sat. We ordered the tempura which was good. Our adamame was nicely cooked. The spicy tuna roll was melt-in-your-mouth tender and had that perfect hint of crunchy tempura flakes. Our other rolls were just as good. The service went beyond my expectations: we ordered tea with our meal and the staff made sure our mugs were always full but without encroaching on our meal. Same goes with every plate we had — served with attention and out of the way. The place is clean and decently decorated(they have an interesting samurai armor figure in the window, but it is mostly minimal). They seemed to have splurged on some very comfortable seating arrangements as well in the dining area. There is attention paid to every facet of this place. Highly recommended for a well-priced meal that will exceed your expectations.

«I’m turning Japanese, I really think so» No, we don’t need another Japanese restaurant in the East Village. There are another 67. However, after going here, I kinda questioned that linear logic. I’m not going to blah blah about who I came with. This place stands out because the décor, atmosphere, and wait staff are such an improvement overly the cramped, questionably clean, and too boozy Sushi spots of EVill. This is place that offers a more satisfying dining experience. First, we were greeted with a free Kimchi app that was ok, but a nice thought. After reviewing the many options of Sake, I landed on a dry, but very flavorful bottle with the help of the waitress. While the menu is more than Sushi, I only trust my ramen to the specialists so I went more traditional. Here’s the dishes we shared: 1. Vegetable Gyoza = Very good 2. Nigiri: Salmon, Tuna, YellowTail = About average 3. Fantastic Roll = Really excellent and flavorful 4. Dyanamite roll = Was a bit too much and the fried fish in the middle was overcooked a bit. After dinner we were treated to a free shot of Sake courtesy of the manager. What’s good + Fresh Fish. + And since Fresh Fish is so important, I’m going to write it again + Awesome prices + Large portions + Amazing service «Areas for improvement» — No Fatty Tuna in stock! — Appetizer menu is limited — Limited specials — Still relatively new, so it misses out on that lively atmosphere(Read: you might be dining in private)

New place, they give you 30% off discount, free sake, I get it… let’s celebrate! But don’t trick me into eating your mockery of ramen. I’ll get straight to the point, the customer service was great don’t get me wrong, very personable but I’m here to eat ramen. –The noodles were stuck together which meant they were not cooked enough. –The pork was overcooked, probably boiled so it had that weird rubbery no taste feel –Shio Pork broth was not pork broth. It was a combo chicken and pork broth which wasn’t piping hot as ramen should be. The first 30 seconds of digging in, I knew I made a mistake. If you’re going to Ramen, around this area, check out Misoya or Setagaya or Kambi on 14th.

Ippin is the BEST. I decided to stop by today and had the best lunch that i’ve had in a long time. It’s a really nice space with knowledgeable staff. Eddie, the manager, was so kind and really made me feel welcomed. He even offered to warm up my food for me after it got cold. My waiter(Jay?) was excellent. He always made sure I was taken care of as well. Anyway, I ordered the Tan Tan Ramen(Delish!) and the tuna avocado roll(very fresh). This place has been open for two weeks and there’s a 30% off special until April so definitely check them out. I’m planning on coming back over and over again. I’ve been to a lot of places and the staff and food are great. I’m bringing some friends on Friday for more grubbing!

This restaurant has a great atmosphere, quiet and elegant in its simplicity. Pleasure to dine and the buns are wonderful. Eddie, the manager, is cordial and a pleasant conversationalist, always impeccably dressed and smiling! Food is priced well, and drinks are also within reason, drafts being $ 5. I can’t express how incredible the sauce on the buns is. The cold noodle and the Ippin special noodle are to die for. Just incredible. Nothing less. Look forward to coming here again!

It is ok, nothing great compared to the more authentic Japanese restaurants practically around the corner. More of a fusion type of restaurant with a bar, rather than a sushi or soba place
