The food and bread with olive oil is amazing. Very reasonably priced especially if you do the Prix-Fixe. I have been here numerous times and tell my friends to visit as well.

I agree with the other reviews: the show is aMEEEEEEEZing, but the food is sorta inconsistent but mostly veers to Cracker Barrel quality. The bottomless brunch is what brings it to 4 as it powers you through the mediocre solids.

Another excellent dinner at Intermezzo, beginning with avocado enriched salmon tartare. The grilled Branzino with lemon risotto was delicious. And the service is attentive and friendly. A Chelsea favorite!

Went on a Wednesday night for dinner, terrible service. The waiter was slow to take our order. I ordered the minnestrone soup as a starter and he brought me a bowl of mussels instead. When he finally did bring out the soup – 30 minutes later – it was flavorless. He refused to bring the manager when we asked. He mostly ignored us the whole time we were there. I would give this place zero stars if that option were available.

Came here accidentally after seeing an amazing play at the Atlantic. Had one prix fixe and one entrée off the menu. The place was full of people, but it turned out that most of them were only drinking at the bar or at tables. The prix fixe appetizer, the caprese, consisted of several slices of cold mozzerella and cold tomato with a few leaves of basil thrown on top., It could not have been more ordinary and certainly would have been better warmer. The linguine alla vongole had a lot of clams, mostly rubbery, and pasta that was really nice and al dente. The entrée off the menu, a mushroom risotto, was very salty but the portion was generous and on a cold, rainy night, very warming. The vongole too was quite salty. The service was very friendly and attentive, and the price, though a little high, because the food was so mediocre, would have been quite reasonable had the food been good. There are a lot of restaurants in Chelsea and had I read the Unilocal reviews, I would have gone elsewhere or cobbled together a light dinner at home.

Really pricey. Total came out to about $ 100 for two people. My first drag show + expensive brunch. :) LOL Go there for the show, not the food. Not saying anything was wrong with the food but not worth it imo. The service was great, wish the mimosa was filled with more OJ rather than just champagne(You can tell I’m not a drinker :() Loved how the drag queen interacted with everyone +1. But prob wont be coming back. sorry :( Guys, the charge for bottomless mimosa is per person not table.

Our first visit was outstanding. Great food and service. We did not have the same experience the second time. Poor food and inattentive service. We were surprised because we were elated by the experience on all cfounts the first time.

We had two entrées. They messed up one of them and brought a wrong entrée. It is always awkward that one has to finish entrée by himself while the other has to watch. The shrimp fettuccine was OK. Nothing special about it, if you have had it other places I recommend to try something else. The branzino was great though, totally recommend it. The dessert grandmother cake is superb. Watch out cuz they charge the 20 percent tip on all the bills.

It seems so innocent when you walk by on your way to Brooklyn Bagel or as you’re headed to sixteen handles for a mid day treat, but when you book brunch at intermezzo on a Saturday expect the works. This is where you come if you want to see a one man drag show and laugh from your tummy. You have to have thick skin if you come to the drag shows because the odds of you & your friends being put on the spot is highly likely and you won’t like what he says. For the low price of an entrée, this is the cheapest drag show around. You won’t regret coming here for the show and the fact they serve food is an added plus.

This place used to be really good. I used to come here once a week or at least every other week but over the last few years, it’s gone downhill. The menu options have increased a bit more but the quality of the food has gone downhill. The staff is still pretty nice. I wish getting to the bathroom wasn’t a big issue though.

I love the brunch and bottomless mimosas here… The drag show was amazing… The dialogue in between the songs is hilarious! One thing I have to say, the presentation of the food is atrocious… At least try a little bit to make it look like you went to culinary school… Seems like they just plopped the eggs on and threw some leaves… Granted we were drunk and had a great time so someone did something right… I’d definitely recommend this place if you want a fun brunch! Don’t count on the food looking appetizing though lol, it’s edible…

The service is great! The people were so attentive. They were constantly filling up our water. They constantly came to the table. Our server was knowledgable about the menu. He told us what he would recommend and what was good. They were all very nice and up front. No gimmicks. The ambience is nice. It makes you feel like you’re in a really fancy place with the décor. The lighting was great. The food was amazing. They gave out free bread with pesto and olive oil. It was really good. We got the Polpo as an appetizer. It was really good. The octopus was cooked right. It wasn’t tough and rubbery. It was tender and great! It tasted good with the spices they added. It also had potatoes and green beans. It all tastes great! Definitely recommend it as an appetizer. My fiancé had the Branzino. The rice was good. It had a lot of flavor. I liked how it had vegetables in it. The salmon was good. It was cooked right. I had the Apollo Valdostana. The stuffed chicken was amazing! It was juicy. I loved how it was stuffed with a leafy vegetable. It tasted really good and kept it juicy. The sauce was so good. It was a good kind of salty. The vegetables were good — cooked just right. It tastes really good when you add the sauce to the vegetables. Overall, it’s a great place! I would definitely recommend this place and would come back again.

Had been meaning to check this place out for a while now and finally did. For years I’d walk by and here the music blasting and the see the bar packed with people having a good time, especially at brunch on the weekend. Unfortunately, my Thursday night dinner experience wasn’t that great. It’s was pretty quiet but that didn’t bother me, and they have a few tables outside if you want to take advantage of that when the weather is nice. Our server was very friendly and took care of us. Unfortunately, the food was a bit disappointing. The best part was the free bread, not how I like to benchmark a good meal. Eats: Bread — couple different types and paired with an olive oil/pesto blend to dip it in. This was good! Fried Calamari — your standard calamari appetizer, but very chewy and bland. Stabbing them with a fork led to the batter falling off and it was actually hard to get them from plate to sauce to mouth without an incident. Beef Short Rib — it was big and looked delicious, but was terribly dry. Gnocchi al Pesto — had potential, and opted for chicken added on top. The chicken was dry, sauce just ok, and gnocchi was too firm and chewy, almost like an overlooked pasta noodle. So seems the partying is probably the way to go here, the sangria 2-for-1 special was on point. But, perhaps not a place to grab dinner.

Came here the other day for brunch — but got more than I expected. After all, Chelsea *IS* the gay capital of New York City. My friends and I sat down, and all seemed very normal. The place was about half full and servers were darting here and there, busy taking orders and refilling drinks. We decided to all get the«bottomless brunch» — a $ 25 special that includes unlimited drinks for 90 minutes. We also ordered a few standard brunch entrees(eggs, pastas dishes, etc). Then the drag show began. A giant of a drag queen arrived, mic in hand, slinging jokes and embarrassing people. It was hilarious! She sang(lip synced) duets with another drag queen and the patrons loved it. A mild-mannered brunch suddenly erupted into a fun house of riot. People were getting drunker and drunker from the bottomless brunch hour(and their drinks were getting refilled rapid fire), and they loved it. We loved it. Shots were passed around by the drag queen. By the time we were ready to leave, most of us could barely stand up. But Intermezzo is great because of this reason, and I’ll definitely be returning when I crave a debaucherous brunch.

So ended at intermezzo accidentally. Really my friend had to use the bathroom. So we figured why not just eat here. First water came to the table and I guess the lipstick was a smudge proof one because it was still on my glass. We started with the cheese and olives appetizer. Most of the cheese on the plate was in small pieces and the prosciutto tasted old. I had a braised lamb for dinner which was tender but flavorless. The truffle mash was good. All in all I didn’t enjoy my meal because it started at such a low note.

A large group of us went for a Sunday brunch bday celebration. The good news: the servers — how they manage to keep their cool is remarkable; and the drag queen was good — we saw Tina Burner. The bad news: almost everything else, but the most maddening part is that it is so unnecessary to make your guests ears bleed with the volume of the music before the drag queen comes out. Seriously, it was over 100 dB’s — we clocked it(FYI: damage begins at 85 dB’s). Even the hard core club kids were put off by the volume level. I guess the DJ thinks he is getting the crowd ready for the drag queen– but it was painful what he did. If we weren’t such a large group for a bday celebration I would have left. One of the guys in our party went to the drug store and bought ear plugs, thank goodness– but it still did not stop me from getting a headache. I will never be going back — there are just too many options in NYC to torture myself. AND the food is mediocre at best, and not worth the price.

We came here, for brunch, for a friend’s birthday and had an enjoyable time. Décor: I’m not sure how I describe it… casual restaurant meets quasi-discothèque? Anyway, the inside is pretty normal, save for the neon lights and the DEAFENINGLYLOUD music. There are a decent number of tables and they should be able to accommodate any size group you have. Oh, and how could I forget the Madonna music video/concert playing in the background haha. Bathroom: Nicely decorated and pretty well lit, it’s clean and well kept. Staff: Our waiter was quick with taking drink orders, food orders, and refills of our water glasses(and other beverages). Additionally, the bus boys were all very nice and attentive too. The star, however, was Tina Burnner our drag queen. She did an awesome job and was hilarious! She, and she alone, is what earns an additional star. She worked the crowd, had everybody cracking up, and was just a really, really fun person. Food/Drink: They have an all-you-can-drink deal for brunch that is well worth it(bellinis, mostly) as one drink alone is $ 12. While I did not partake(as I wasn’t feeling very well) everyone else seemed to enjoy them. As for food… the menu is not large but there are a couple good options on there. We had the chicken Caesar warp(very small but it did come with fries… not many though) and a Caesar salad(very passable). All of the entrees seemed to be portioned on the small side… Value: This place, on food alone, is not worth the cost. However, Tina Burnner really made it worth while. I don’t see us returning but it was worth the visit.

*** Groupon Deal, Great portions, Attentive Staff *** I found a Groupon Deal for this restaurant and decided to try it out. I am very happy I did because this was such a great experience. The groupon deal covered one appetizer, two entrees, and two alcoholic beverages of your choice. I had the linguine with clams and red sangria. The service was great and I was very impressed by the quality of the food. I would highly recommend trying this place out if you love Italian food.

This review is only for the brunch, but if the brunch food is indicative of the rest of the week, this place is aces. As others have mentioned, Intermezzo offers a first rate drag show with funny, gorgeous entertainment, tasty food and flowing drinks. The brunch menu is standard: eggs, sandwiches, burgers and a few Italian specialties. Entrees range from $ 10-$ 18. For those looking to party, an additional $ 25 gets you 90 minutes of all you can drink Bellinis, mimosas, and Bloody Marys, which are refilled promptly and to the brim. Waiters walk around with bottles of champagne eager to pour and keep the party going. The real fun for sure, is the drag show. Our show starred the one, the only Tina Burner. Tina’s resume includes Miss Fire Island, Miss Hell’s Kitchen and numerous other local honors. Tina is hysterical, talented and almost gracious if you catch her in the right moment. Not taking anything away from Intermezzo, but Tina is the reason we keep coming back. It’s an absolute bargain for the show she puts on. Please remember to tip her! She is well worth it! Even though it gets really crowded, the bartenders and manager, Joseph, are always attentive and helpful. For my birthday, my party of 14 was asked for wait for the table to be ready. We complied, realizing that we were a large group for an in demand brunch. We were bought a round of shots by the house and Joseph personally apologized to me for making us wait. No apologies needed! We didn’t even wait that long! Everything was great — food, drinks, service and entertainment. I HIGHLY recommend this place. It is a wonderful Chelsea spot that welcomes all and delivers every time!

Intermezzo, one of the remaining gay establishments in Chelsea, is, for a lack of a better explanation, what you would get it your local gay bar decided to serve up pasta during«off peak hours.» Yeah, they have a daily prixe fix food menu. Yeah, they have some decent pasta dishes. But, why does one really come to Intermezzo? One comes to Intermezzo for the familiar smile and the booze. It’s practically always happy hour here. although it’s a little less: loud: in here during the weekdays; Frozen margaritas, different glass jars of sangria, so-so wine, and of course the food. The weekends are a totally different animal. It’s called the Electric Brunch and it comes with more booze and more drag queens. It is, for some, the continuation of a long night out. You wait an hour to get your typical brunch fare(steak and eggs, eggs Benedict) served to you along side a $ 25AYCD alcohol fantasia(for 90 minutes). The ambiance: One of the loudest drag shows you will ever hear(the crowds can be so overwhelming that you will most likely never actually see the show). Although it can get like a zoo(full of animals hungry for booze) you’ll definitely have a good time.
