Tiny, amazing restaurant. Went here NYE at 5, restaurant was virtually empty. Excellent service, free bottomless prosecco on NYE!, and the best pasta I have ever had in my life. The pasta with mushrooms was absolutely amazing, everything I’ve ever wanted out of pasta. If you’re looking for pasta in NYC in a severely underrated place, go to In Vino!

This place goes from very good to amazing depending on the chef’s menu. As a big fan I often feel very frustrated about their weird menu changes. Right now on their menu the must haves are: 1-burrata: best Italian appetizer I’ve ever had. It is NOT just burrata. It’s way more elaborate, complex, satisfying and delicious than a good burrata. 2-meatballs: excellent meatballs 3-chicken parm About 15 months ago I came and had their lasagna and my girlfriend could not believe how AMAZING it was. The best lasagna by far ever. They then removed it from their menu for a completely inexplicable reason. Very annoying. They recently re-added it to their menu HOWEVER figured they might as well alter the best lasagna recipe probably in the world to make it a mediocre recipe. I am not kidding. What happened to their original amazing recipe??? I have no clue. Please give us the best lasagna in the world back.

Tried this place tonight and was very happy with the food. Portions are large, and delicious. We got the bruschetta sampler, which was more like giant toasts piled with the toppings, and meatballs to start. Meatballs were also really large. Then lasagna for the main, also a large portion. Everything very tasty. Nice ambiance inside, too, with candles. Wines by the glass are limited, but our Dolcetto was quite nice.

We originally had 11pm reservations for a Friday night, seeing as we were running a bit earlier than expected we called and asked if it was possible to push the reservation up to 10:30pm. They seem to not have a problem and simply told us to come whenever we were ready. After a quick stroll from Clinton Street to E 4th street we arrived promptly at 10:30. They were a few people at the restaurant at this time. We were able to pick our own seats and opted for the right corner towards the back. The place is very romantic with its arc and candles, and ofcourse wine selection. We were then served bread and brought over our menus. We decided to start with the meatballs(ofcourse!) and a bottle of red wine. Soon our waitress brought over some bread and olive oil. The order brings 2 large meatballs and they were OUTSTANDING! I could’ve had 2 more(all for myself!) They had a great consistency and the tomato ragu it was paired with was just the cherry on top. Our other waiter mentioned they have had the same meatballs on their menu for 9 years– clearly they’re a hit! For entrees we ordered the Bolognese and Beef Tenderloin, Bolognese was a great portion and very flavorful. Tenderolin was also very flavorful and delicious. Service was great, our waiter suggested we email a Opentable coupon we had to his computer which he would then print and apply to our bill. He could’ve simply not accepted the coupon off our cellphone but he went above and beyond to be sure we took advantage of our deal!

Went for their weekly wine tasting with my boyfriend. Really enjoyed it and was able to try four different wines for $ 25, which is a good deal. Keith was sick so there was someone else leading the class but she was very knowledgeable. Didn’t have the food but it looked delicious! Will definitely be back to try the food.

Very cozy and intimate place for dinner. Food was good and staff was very friendly. Menu a little limited and only serve beer and wine… but extensive wine list. Good date spot.

The exact phrase that applies here is «casual perfection». Some restaurants are so high end and good that they make you nervous about being a good customer, while others are relaxing and good but so casual you’re nervous they’re going to screw everything up. What In Vino manages to do is a tightrope act between delivering deadly seriously brilliant wine and food, all while being relaxed, and and delivering gustatory pleasure without pretense. You can have a ’91 Brunello di Montalcino that makes you think of Rolls Royce leather while eating the best version of grandma’s meatballs you’ve ever had, all the while the owner Keith waxes poetic about the Beastie Boys and 80’s movies, and in addition educates you about the chemistry behind the mid 1800s phylloxera blight at the same time and educates you about why the aging of the sugars makes the Brunello taste like old honeysuckle. I dare you to find that in another restaurant. I’ve always wanted a restaurant that mixed educated passion for food and wine, while subtracting all the pretentious BS that goes along with most restaurants highly educated in food and wine. I found it at In Vino. The food is killer, the wine is killer, and the atmosphere is for people who care more about a good meal/drink than status. This restaurant fits me like a glove. Maybe it won’t fit you but that’s OK, you’ll still love the food and the wine. I promise.

Redeemed a BBEats deal for their tagliatelle and complimentary Tiramisu, with folks unsurprisingly discussing wine at the bar behind me. Both dishes were solid but unphenomenal, with a too-small napkin to go with it, served by a new staffer who ran the bar and the tables.

What a great recommendation from a friend of mine that frequents this place on the regular! It was a warm night so it was refreshing to walk into such a cool(temperature and concept wise) space. The trade off is that it’s a little dark, but it makes for a more intimate setting and was perfect for a mellow Sunday dinner w/a friend. The Sunday Gravy pre-fixe was a nice looking deal, 3 courses for $ 25 but the pasta course wasn’t what we were in the mood for, so we just shared the Caprese salad, the parpadelle bolognese and I think it was a linguine negro(squid ink pasta). I would totally do the caprese again, nice mozz, delicious heirloom tomatoes, nice oil but the surprise was the pesto that accompanied it, so good! I could have taken the whole plate down myself. The pastas were also delicious, great portion size, if you’re hungry you can eat a whole plate to yourself, especially if you had the bread and oil they start you off w/. FYI, the menu was a little different than what they had online, but all the additions looked good. Best part was that they were $ 19 – 25, and for NYC for an entrée that’s totally reasonable! My friend and I got out of there for around $ 60 each, which included a shared dessert and some wine, so we considered dinner a success. :) Will totally hit this spot up again next time I’m in town.

Took a wine tasting class with Keith and had so much fun. He is very knowledgable with the wines and their history. His explanations are great because there is no confusion with fancy wine words. He makes learning history rather enjoyable. I am deeply impressed by this $ 20 session of wine tasting. I will definitely check back for other classes and perhaps try the food too. I live in queens but I can easily be s regular here at this little gem in the east village. The restaurant itself is very cute in a modern rustic way. Sorry that I didn’t get a chance to take pictures but I can surely say it’s s perfect place for s romantic date. Music is fantastic!

Really like this place!!! Was looking for a place to accomodate a group of 8 for a friday night dinner at the last minute and this place saved us. Not sure if people primarily came for wine, but even though it was a friday night, the restaurant wasn’t too crowded which meant we could actually all talk together and have enough space to sit around the table. Although it is a wine bar, the food was actually very good. The pastas were delicious and the apps were very unique. I got the risotto which was delicious and cooked very well. Usually, im not a huge risotto fan but it wasn’t drenched in sauce but perfectly blended together. I will definitely be back to try the other pastas that my friends got. What makes this place even better is the wine selection. They offered 3L wine bottles which defintiely gave each of us 3 glasses. The wine bottle was huge and the waiter was nice enough to help us pour throughout the meal. The atomosphere was perfect for a summer night and the décor was really nice. Bathroom was clean which was definitely a plus! Will definitely be back!!!

Well, the porcini mushroom ravioli is no more. In the past year, In Vino has changed chefs, and the dish we kept coming back for(mostly because we don’t have the balls to put that much butter in our own sauces at home), left with the old one. However, while the loss of a dish like that is always sad, In Vino still has plenty of things to be happy about. Namely: The same lively, wine-soaked and candle-lit atmosphere. The same personable staff who make excellent recommendations. An excellent(if not exactly affordable) wine list. A new, foie gras-stuffed maple ravioli. A fantastic burrata dish so fresh it’ll obscenely squirt milk cream across your table when you dig in. The truffle cream sauce is gone, but the song remains the same.

I’ve been eating here for a couple of years now. It used to be a great neighborhood spot with an awesome wine list and decent grub. Since the new chef came on board it’s a whole new ballgame! The quality of food is really a step above what you would expect, it is world class. The staff is always on point and super friendly. The atmosphere is great and can be warm and friendly or cozy and romantic. So it’s really perfect for any occasion. Go there, eat, you’re welcome.

In Vino is among the best Italian Restaurants I’ve ever visited! I didn’t eat much that day, but guys, I promise, if you try Porchini Ravioli in a truffle creamy sauce you won’t want anything else and don’t ask me about another food, I don’t care about it, ravioli is great + red sangria that perfectly freshens up. It was my ideal evening there.

I lived directly above this place for half a decade and never went. I knew it was a destination spot for Italian grub and wine and that the staff was friendly, letting us drop keys there for later pickup by visitors, etc, etc, but there’s just that thing of practically being home and not wanting to pay 12 dollars for a glass of wine you can pour upstairs for free. Now that I’m off of East 4th Street, I gladly come out of my way to visit In Vino. I mostly like that they’re into building a community of Italian culinary culture appreciation and doing it without pretense. Add to that delicious bites and beautiful wines you often can’t have elsewhere in the city, I’m in full-blown like-like territory.

I made a reservation for 5 people, a week in advance. Upon arriving at the restaurant, they gave us two options: seating us at the small bar, with all 5 of us seated next to each other(meaning, no one would be able to catch up/hear another person/have a conversation with more than one person) OR at a table, with two chairs and a bench. The«bench» was sufficient for two people to sit, but not three people to sit, unless we wanted to be smushed next to the other person and elbow them every time we wanted to get a sip of water. There was an open table in the back, which we had asked for, but they had denied us access, as they were«saving it for another reservation.» Don’t go here if you have greater than 2 people in your party.

2.5 stars I wasn’t impressed by a couple of dishes I ordered. The prices are way too high for the quality and quantity you get. Calamari salad: tiny pieces of calamari hidden in a dish full of kale. Veal shank ossobuco: good, but nothing to rave about.
