Over the past couple of years, this place has undergone several changes in management, ownership, menu, and names. The current name is Great Wall(not sure if it has anything to do with the namesake Chinese takeout establishment in LES), and the current business model is primarily takeout with very limited seating and no table service. If you do decide to dine in, you will be eating out of takeout containers with plastic utensils. Like many Chinese takeout places in the City, this business remained open and running during winter storm Jonas. The food continues to be satisfactory, and the prices continue to be reasonable, given the midtown location. If you’re in the lower part of east midtown, and want a quick, cheap and filling meal that is reasonably tasty, this place seldom disappoints. The baby shrimp fried rice continues to be my go-to menu item, and the chicken wings continue to outshine those at other local Chinese takeout restaurants.

First, the delivery at this place is fast. Incredibly fast. Second, this is a great take out place. Everything is so good too.

I ordered the $ 8 chicken and broccoli lunch special for delivery. The delivery was on time, but the bag was leaking with brown sauce when I got it, which made for a dilemma since I work at a job where I eat at my desk, near my computer. The brown sauce was delicious and there was lots of it(just how I like it), but the chicken was dry. It’s a solid Chinese food spot for the area, but nothing to rave about.

Burnt my sesame chicken so much that it was impossible to eat. Never order take-out from this restaurant. They also made me bring the food back to the restaurant in-order to receive a refund because they didn’t believe me. Terrible customer service. Even worse food.

Delivery guy came at 1:30 and was at the wrong address. Came to my place of business with a massive attitude and became enraged when I asked him who he was trying to make a delivery to. After I made efforts to calm him down, I asked my co-worker to come out and assist me since I was terrified for that this delivery man would physically hurt due to his frustration of not getting a hold of the person he was trying to make his delivery to. We all then learned he was at the wrong address, which caused their delivery man to basically get thrown out of my office and we him told his manager will be getting a call. When we called the manager, they pretty much didn’t seem to care that their delivery man was so rude and could of caused harm to someone. I wish I could of given this place no stars but since Unilocal doesn’t allow that I am forced to give 1 star. I hope the person he ended up delivering to got a less frustrated delivery but judging by the attitude and extremely disturbed behavior I received I can get guarantee no such luck. I will follow up with a memo to ALL my co-workers to NEVEREVER use this restaurant for delivery or dining purposes and I advise you too.

I generally order from here when i truly have the munchies but I really find that it’s one of the Chinese restaurants in my area that actually satiates my hunger. Delivery comes very quickly. I’m super casual, fried rice, lo mein, maybe a sesame chicken. All good though.

Visiting NYC on thanksgiving day and wanted to try this place based in the reviews. The food was excellent, fresh and not oily like other Chinese dishes. noodles, orange chicken, rice and won ton soup — all very good and at an affordable price! Also it was thanksgiving day and they delivered the food within 30 minutes as promised! Try this place and you will not be disappointed.

This place is terrible. Delivery took over 90 minutes. When I called to ask what’s up, they said the order is out and hung up on me. I was going to demand a refund, but they are not worth it. Also, the food is awful, I am not sure what the reviewers here are talking about. The Egg Drop Soup is like jello and has a strange aftertaste.

RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. TIPSAREEARNED-NOTJUSTGIVEN. The delivery guy cursed me out when I refused to give him a tip. I refused because as soon as I called back to correct the number the guy ASKED for a tip over the phone. Really? If you don’t like delivering food-then DONT deliver the dang food, fool! I refuse to tip for a $ 23.00 meal that is a small general tso’s chicken w/rice and 4 dumplings. Idgaf if this is «New York City» as the guy on the phone told me, you are over-charging and I will never pay anyone additional for poor customer service. Fortunatley, the food tastes OK– but I would not be surprised if I have to take some kind of stomach aid later because they eff’d up my food.

Avoid this restaurant like the plague. Do not order from them for delivery for they mess up almost every order. Delivery persons are extremely disrespectful, essential items like duck sauce, Chinese mustard, etc. are routinely left out of delivery package. Food is bland.

When I worked in Midtown Imperial Garden was a regular in our takeout repertoire at the office. Every dish was good. Never had a bad delivery from here. Pineapple fried rice was yummy. I was partial to General Tso’s but ribs were good too.

I have only ordered from here once so far, which is why I’m giving a four-star instead of a five-star rating. I’ll have to try other dishes before giving a solid five stars! However, my first experience with them was amazing! I ordered egg drop soup and sesame chicken with white rice. I also paid the extra $ 1 for white meat chicken. I’m from the South and just moved up to the city — I always heard the takeout here was much better, but never believed it until now! This was so much better than ANY sesame chicken I’ve ever had! The soup was good as well, just standard egg drop soup. In addition, I ordered around 7:20pm and the delivery estimate said they would arrive around 8:15pm. Nope — they showed up by 7:35! Ordering and paying online was quick and easy through their website. I will definitely be ordering from them in the future!

Had 2 dishes here on 3 separate occasions, 1 excellent, 1 gross. Chicken with string beans was very yummy. Twice, the General Tso’s was so gross. I don’t know how they messed that one up, but they did. I think I’ll find a new go-to.

Since I starting working in the Murray Hill area, Imperial Garden has been the only Chinese takeout I order from. The food is great and delivery time is quick. Great place for lunch!

Honestly, not sure what to say here. I got the sense it was a Japanese take-out joint masquerading as a Chinese place. I should have known by the red lantern outside with the word«Sushi», and the fact that only one other table was occupied that this wouldn’t be good. Certainly no frills, no soup, no spring roll, no complimentary glass of wine, and normal portions as opposed to the typical massive portions you might get at other Chinese places. Just moved to the area, so I’ll be looking else where for the good Chinese that I used to get on the UES.

One of my go to asian fusion take out joints. Mostly Chinese, but lots of Thai and even Japanese on the menu. LOVE the pineapple fried rice. Borderline obsessed. I haven’t gone wrong with any vegetarian dish here. I have to order it when I’m alone in secret or at work because my Chinese beau rolls his eyes and seems mildly perturbed at my love this«takeout.» Which clearly uses as derogatory term for unhealthy, oily, salty not-so-authentic(but ooo-so-good) Asian cuisine. Drool.
