Great great first experience. The shop is clean. Super professional. Easy on the scalp. Time efficient. Great style. Big smile. Will return.

I had a great time!!! I think I found my new salon, everyone was so warm and friendly! I went to IMENA Ladies Night Out and was very well taking care of by Tami the owner. I brought a picture of a hairstyle and Tami did her magic. Will be stopping by next month to become a member.

Two weeks ago I had the pleasure of visiting the Imena Salon, and it was my first time seeing a stylist that specializes in natural hair. I was pretty nervous walking in but I knew that my hair needed some TLC. As I came in as the stylist was wrapping up per previous client’s two strand twist set, so my wait wasn’t too long. Natural hair is time consuming, so waiting a few minutes isn’t the end of the world ladies. Patience is a virtue. My appointment and consultation was with Tammy, the salon owner. Tammy was great, she answered all of my annoying questions about hair care, listened to my endless banter, and hooked me up with an amazing hairstyle! She thoroughly explained which products she used in my hair, the benefits of each product, and even taught me some new moisturizing techniques. I knew that I wanted a protective style, but didn’t know exactly which one I wanted. Tammy helped me come up with a twisted updo, which is very versatile and can be worn in a number of ways. She styled my hair really quickly, and her flat twist technique was perfect. So far the hairstyle has lasted two weeks, and probably could last even longer. I’ll definitely be visiting the salon again.

I’ve been going to IMENA for over a year and I’ve continued to go because I like the service I get there and I appreciate that they are focused on healthy hair and scalp in addition to beautiful styling. I can’t say enough about the salon’s policy not to overbook and a deposit is well-worth it to know that your appointment time is your appointment time. Plus, on several occasions when I had something come up at the last minute they gone out of their way to squeeze me in(as long as it doesn’t impact another customer) or have stayed late. They work hard to create a comfortable, professional environment so while there is sometimes a conversation in the salon it’s not intrusive and you can just as easily relax or read a book as you can talk and interact with others. Yes, they have policies that IMENA staff don’t eat or use their cell phones on the floor, that deposits are required for appointments, that people not receiving services not hang out in the salon, and that customers be on time(with a grace period) for appointment but that’s how they create that comfortable, professional environment. It works for me, so much so, that I use the QUEEN membership(never been to a salon with a membership plan). I get regular compliments on my hair and freely recommended them when people ask. I’d definitely recommend giving them a try, I think you’ll find there’s a lot to appreciate about the salon experience they provide.

Very true when I get good or great service I usually tell the person right there Thank you, I appreciate it etc… as well as telling my colleagues where I had my hair done. I speak only for myself, that when I am dissatisfied I put pen to paper! This is not just for you Tami, if I go to Nordstroms and I am dissatisfied I write about it. No one is saying not to pay your employees, but because you were inflexible you have lost a customer. All the best to you.

Confession: I’m not big on hair salons. I always feel like I don’t belong but I need to get my hair done. And it was for this reason that I really needed a haircut – I hadn’t gone to the salon in a LONGTIME. My mom suggested I try out a place that she’s gone to for a few times. Yeah, I liked her cut and all but really that wasn’t why I decided to go. It’s because my mom said these magic words: «Don’t worry, you won’t have to hear any stupid salon gossip. No loud irritating music. It’s a nice vibe.» And it was. Sammy not only gave me a good wash, condition and cut, but she also TALKEDTOME about the products that I should use for my hair. She provided styling suggestions and living up to my mom’s promise, there were no loud, meaningless discussions or annoying music. It’s a pleasant atmosphere filled with polite conversations. So I will be back. And when I return, I’ll give an update!

In over 10 years of having locks, I’ve allowed very few fingers into my scalp. Imena’s staff is gentle, well-intended, hospitable and SKILLED! I’m also in awe of the range of hairstyles and hair care they handle beyond braids(fantastic braiding!) and twists: blowouts, weaves, great cuts and color. I am excited to see the membership of this salon continue to grow. It isn’t merely a salon but it is a small community where you can choose to be quiet and pensive or engage in meaningful convo. I find it to be a calm and gentle haven and look forward to each visit.
