Nice atmosphere and attentive waitstaff. Menu and food were fine, but nothing extraordinary. Cacio had a little too much pepe. Branzino was poorly deboned, especially since it wasn’t actually served as the whole fish. Lasagna was tasty. There’s definitely far superior Italian in the neighborhood, but I wouldn’t be opposed to returning.

I was not impressed by the food or the prices. Way too expensive for just mediocre Italian dishes. The service was ok, although I didn’t understand any of the specials(our server was in a rush) which didn’t make us feel welcome at all. Overall was definitely disappointed with our meal and experience. If you’re looking for a friendly, warm Italian atmosphere with appropriately priced food, don’t come here.

Went down to the village for a play and decided to try this restaurant hoping to get a great meal. Upon walking into the bar my nostrils immediately picked up the stench of the pretentious staff. The service was slow and very forceful in trying to up sell their menu. The food was pretty decent but absolutely not worth price for the very small portions. The one positive I can say is that they were generous on their bread basket which makes up for the lack of actual food in their portions. It’s the village find somewhere else to eat for future diners.

Unfortunately we had one of those rude NY service experiences at I Sodi. Quietly, I had hoped we were past this kind of arrogance in NY dining establishments at this level. This was our second visit and we were served twice by the same server. They run the floor with no managers and as a result when mistakes happen the staff tend to gloss over the issues and don’t address the problem. On this occasion it was not so much that we waited 45 minutes for our main dish; or that when it arrived was incorrect; or that they wouldn’t re fire another one for us(at it was now 1130pm), it was the manner the staff member addressed the problem. No apology, no care, no service. Shame as the food here can be good, unfortunately the service just leaves an awful taste in your mouth.

Went here tonight with a few business colleagues. I have to say I haven’t had a more disappointing meal in a very long time. The place was packed, which tells me there are a lot of locals that chose location over meal quality. If you’re in the area, don’t believe the hype and go somewhere else.

This place blew me away… We are already big fans of Via Carota around the corner… so was eager to try I Sodi. Loved the staff… a really great maitre’d with a good manner, is always a good start to an evening. We had a good table and a very bright and helpful waitress who navigated us through the ’ seasonal menu’.I had the best Steak Tartare next to La Train Bleu, in Gare Du Lyon Paris… and a sublime Lasagne… none of that cloying heavy pasta and béchamel . My partner had the rabbitt that he raved about… crispy on the outside and juicy soft meat in the inside. No desert as we knocked back 2 very nice bottles of Italian wine. I wanted to buy the famous olive oil… but apparently it was a bad year for the crops, so hence a minimum supply… but what i did try was wonderful… fresh, a little peppery with a touch of citrus. A lovely warm friendly, nicely lit restaurant… we will run back here oftennnnnnnn !!!

Lasagna lasagna lasagna. One of the best in the City, and the best I’ve ever had! I’ve never been able to count the layers! Charming, crowded, fun, and the staff are always great. Our fave place to eat in this neighborhood, great if you’re heading to the Lortel or the New Ohio.

Wow! What a great Italian experience! I’m not talking about a get you in and get you out«Olive Garden» kind of experience. This place is top notch food, booze and wait staff experience. From the appetizers to the desert and everything in between it was great. The wait staff cannot be outdone. Their attention to detail to make your dinner the best it can be is so appreciated. You’ll have to ask for the check — so appreciated. The main courses were amazing. I had the Coniglio In Porchetta and it was very well prepared. The drinks and desert were amazing as well. Plan on making reservations to make sure you start off well. Although the the bar makes waiting easier. Will come again when we’re down from Btown.

Went in to try their version of a negroni, one of my favorite cocktails. The bartender didn’t know anything about the various types of vermouth they stocked, or he wouldn’t engage in a conversation about them. I tried the negroni classico, top on their drink menu. It was awful. No complexity at all. I only finished it because it cost $ 14. Customer service wasn’t good either. The bartender didn’t check back, not even after I finished the drink to see if we wanted anything else. We weren’t offered a food menu. I won’t be back.

So happy I stumbled into this little place. it’s absolutely adorable and the food is to die for. They also have a fully stocked bar with a gentleman who looks every part a good mixologist so you’d be a fool not to order a cocktail and let him work his magic. For dinner, I had the heirloom tomato salad(amazeballs) followed by the meat lasagne(another level). You also get a complimentary basket of fresh bread to start so by the end of my two cocktails and food I was feeling pretty great. Would be perfect spot for a date or to host an intimate or special family occasions.

Outstanding n Great Value Love this place. Great portions of Tuscan style Italian at a very reasonable price, with a ton of charm. You have to try the lasagne — paper thin pasta and a lot of flavor. Regular pasta dishes were great too! Too bad we were too stuffed to try desert — NEXTTIME! Small quite place perfect for casual dinner or a special date, won’t break the bank either. They over ½ n full portions. ½ is an appetizer portion, full is not huge but plenty for one. If you want gluttonous go to Olive Garden.

I thought every dish was really great, but the pasta portion sizes are laughable, especially since they are divided into half and full sizes. So when we ordered full sizes, we were like, «Har har, where’s the other half.» We were met with the unamused stare of our server, who looked like Anne Hathaway, except not. We ordered the rabbit and steak mains and both were to die for, as in, «whoa I would really go back for either of these dishes,» and the pastas were great as well — there was a tagliatelle and a chestnut ravioli, which was surprisingly tasty, despite the main ingredients being«chestnuts.» Their wine list is a bit pricey as other diners have mentioned, but the space is beautiful and the service expert(despite the not-quite-and-slightly-huffy Anne Hathaway doppelgänger), and the food… very much worth the money though seriously, the chef could do worse than throw in a few more noodles and raviolis. I’d go back! Oh and highly recommended for an intimate date you would like to entertain.

Simply my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC for date night. A great dining experience enhanced by fantastic service. Pros: 1) Lasagna 2) Service 3) Cocktails Cons: 1) Pricy Wine List 2) Somewhat Cramped Experience: We had an 8:30 reservation, but due to the standard Saturday evening delay on the subway we were running a good 15 minutes late. In fear of losing our table, we called the restaurant and let them know we were running late and they held our table for us. A simple and surprisingly unusual nice act. We were greeted by name by the host, another nice touch. The bartender served up the best Manhattan I have had in quite some time, and was reasonably priced. The wine list was comprised exclusively of Italian wines, which unfortunately I have about as much knowledge about as the local political events occurring in Fresno. The least expensive wine on the list was approximately $ 70, and by the glass prices were $ 15, but did feature a nice Chianti. The majority of the entrees are served in either full or half orders. We ordered the ravioli and the lasagna, which only comes in a full order. The lasagna is quite simply amazing. If Garfield was ever sent to death row for offing Odie, this is exactly what he would want as his last meal. It features 12 layers of delectate pasta, with a delicious meat sauce and adorned by the perfect amount of cheese. It was well constructed and stable, unlike a track-home in Orange County. The service throughout the evening was fantastic, exactly what you would expect from a high-end dining establishment. The server spoke perfect English, was courteous, knowledgeable about the menu and preparation, gave good recommendations, and was very attentive. Our first order of drinks took a little time to deliver, but I am pretty sure that is because the Manhattan was prepared in Heaven. The setting is very classy and NYC«intimate,» so be prepared to learn about everything that is happening in the life of the couple sitting next to you. Not a major negative, unless the wife is suspicious about her husband’s recent trip to Atlantic City to invest in a new casino. The price point was very reasonable and portion size is exactly where you won’t be craving a slice on the way home but also don’t feel like a beached whale being covered in wet towels. Overall, I would highly recommend I Sodi to a couple looking for a date night experience.

KenScale: 8.0÷10 I Sodi is an Italian restaurant from Rita Soti displaying various dishes from Tuscany reflecting her childhood there. It is one of the more charming neighborhood restaurants in West Village, with a tiny dining room and intimate atmosphere serving solid rustic Italian dishes. Heirloom tomato salad with cucumber, onion and basil was a light dish with very fresh tomato that got the meal started on the right path. The restaurant offers pasta dishes in both half and full portions. I ordered two dishes in half portions(which were actually fairly generous for half portions). I liked the rustic feel of both spaghetti vongole(with tasty clams) and rigatoni in meat sauce. Nothing mind-blowing, but well-executed dishes that you can probably see in Italian-style home cooking. I was a bit underwhelemd with whole branzino roasted with cherry tomato. It was cooked right with very good balance of flavor, but somehow the texture felt a little mushy. For dessert, the Italian classic vanilla panna cotta(which I also ordered with blueberry sorbet) was solid, although I’ve had better panna cotta elsewhere. The restaurant’s dining room is very small, which means it is important to get a reservation early(I was lucky that the restaurant had a last minute cancelation). The restaurant has a full bar with plenty of Italian wine selections, so definitely try a sip or two. I was charmed by the vibe of the restaurant, which is that perfect neighbhorhood spot you want to have near your home. For a casual dinner or date night, I recommend I Sodi as an option to consider.

Supremely delicious Italian. The lasagna was outstanding! Every bite here was worth it. The space is snug, but comfortable and the bar is beautifully set up as the focal point of the restaurant. An excellent dining experience that I would replicate immediately.
