Hua Mei Bird Garden

There was only 1 bird in a cage when I went to the park to see this, but I could definitely see where it is an awesome thing to do if more people and birds were there.

If you’re in the vicinity of Sara Delano Roosevelt Park, be sure and stroll through this section… especially on the weekend. You’ll find a little New York City treasure… a group of Chinese men and their singing birds (sometimes up to 50) hanging in their bamboo cages. The birds are in training for singing competitions, so be respectfully quiet so as not to disturb them (or their very serious owners). My pre-​teen and teenager thought I was a bit nuts, but I thought this was the perfect little diversion on the way to the subway!
