Oh my god this place !!! So delicious I was so happy to have found it. Such an assortment of baked good and kosher goods as well the bagels were divine and the éclair and cannoli were heaven sent. Exactly what I was looking for and no line up !! What more can you ask for. They have great looking lunches including wraps salads and sandwiches. Soups and smoothies were also on the menu and i think they do deliveries and big orders as well as have a hot kitchen section. There are some seats but depending on the time of day you may or may not get one. Overall recommend. Great prices and they accept debit and credit as well as cash.

Delivery took over 1 and ½ hours! For a sandwich a cookie and a soda! I think that’s a new record. Completely aggravated.

So, I have ordered from this place a number of times. Up until recently it was fine; panini’s, omelets, etc. Hard to screw up, right? So I thought, until I got some, ahem, «extra protein» in my last order. I don’t want to be particularly graphic with my description, but, suffice to say, the«extra protein» was in my sandwich. And when I say«in my sandwich», I mean literally *IN* my sandwich. I ordered a panini. Now, I wanted to be accommodating. I get it, Manhattan is filled with«extra protein»; these things happen, right? So I called Hot & Crusty and informed them of the little, extra crunchy, bonus that I had discovered in my panini. Their response, and I would like to quote this exactly: «it must have gotten in there after you got it.» I will happily concede that my kitchen is not as clean as I would like it to be. That said, I do find it unlikely that a cockroach managed to wiggle its way into my panini in the five seconds between when I accepted the food from the delivery man and when I opened the container. So, suffice to say, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Hot & Crusty Bakery Café.

I really don’t like to bother writing a review if it is going to be negative. But there was nothing positive about the food I was expected to consume. I purchased 1 carrot cake 1 babka 1 ham and cheese croissant All of which was now the measurement for the worst I’ve have tasted. Perhaps other items from this establishment are good. But I doubt it.

Great option for a snack or light meal near the E 86th Street subway station. I really enjoy the soups during the cold weather(pea and ham, chicken noodle soups have been hot and hearty). Hot soup teamed with freshly baked bagel or bread — cheap, easy and yum. Staff have been nice and helpful every time.

Amazingly slow. Saturday, 6 am. One customer. 10 minutes is not enough for bagel with omelette.

Hot and Crusty Bakery Café was my go to place for a muffin every day when I worked. I stopped for the muffin to take with me. It was convenient when I lived in the neighborhood. At first the bran muffin had dates and nuts. It was huge. Then they stopped adding the dates. Then after a few years the nuts were very few. The prices kept going up, The coffee was already more expensive than other locations. The bagels are great. They are worth the price. I’ve tried the cookies and they are very good too. The pastries all look delicious. They offer seasonal pies, bread, and cookies. It fun to watch the selections change. I loved the holiday decorations they put up too. Positive things about this location are as follows; they make everything fresh daily, they are open twenty four-seven, they have a clean bathroom. There is seating if you can get it. For the most part the tables and chairs are kept clean. I liked the employees that worked the night shift. It takes a special character to handle the overnight customers and homeless! Negative things include; rising prices, questionable patrons and persons lingering on the sidewalk, and trouble finding a seat during busy times. I was there at 5AM so I didn’t have a problem. If you’re not early you’ll wait in a long line to order and pay also. i made friends with other customers. We were all working and on the same time schedule. We met every morning. It really was nice while it lasted. After we all went our separate ways I started going uptown to 97th Street where prices are much less!

do not order food from seamless with this café. We did not receive our bagel, coffee and fruit and after 45 minutes late I called Cindy and she refused to give refund and told me to call Seamless. I called Seamless and they claim Cindy lied and said food delivered. So rude and no manager on duty to speak with. do not order food from this café through seamless!

I think I know why they have crusty in their name… it’s a 50 – 50 chance that the baked good you buy here is several days old and very stale. I’ve stopped in here 3 – 4 times. Sometimes you get a fresh danish, cupcake, cookie et al but just as frequently you get an inedible brick that ends up in the trash can. There are so many good options for coffee and snacks in the UES there is no need to go this place.

It’s obviously not gourmet, but the food; service, and delivery are consistently good.

I’m not usually a fan of chain establishments for baked goods and sandwiches, but hot & crusty has now become one of my favorites. After going with my boyfriend numerous times as he bought bagels, I finally ordered my own food as we were desperate for easy sandwiches. I LOVED my deluxe lox bagel, which didn’t have an overwhelming amount of cream cheese and with ample salmon. The only little detail was that the bagel was toasted a bit too much, to the point of being too hard for me to bite. The sandwich was so filling though, and my boyfriend and his family who each got different sandwiches(reuben, turkey brie, chicken parma) all agreed. My bf even said that the chicken parm sandwich was the best sandwich he’s ever had(and he eats a lot of sandwiches). Not too pricey, quick service, endless options of baked goods and sandwiches… will come back again and again as a guilty pleasure or when I’m in no mood to venture somewhere new.

We were headed down from 98th to the Frick and were craving bagels so we came here after seeing good reviews(4⁄5) on Google. Walking in, it looks like your standard UES bagel/salad/sandwich store. There weren’t many people, but even though we clearly couldn’t figure out where to order, everyone just ignored us. We tried to order twice and were shuffled along by a finger pointed in some vague direction. We finally ordered a salmon on a toasted whole wheat everything bagel from a women at the bakery counter. By now, a number of people had filed in, and we later heard our order being called from the deli counter. The man there slathered cream cheese on it, threw on a few pieces of salmon, and shoved it across the counter. We were shoved over to the line to pay and tried to communicate to the women there that we just wanted a bagel with salmon. She was incredibly rude and dismissive so we ended up back at the counter. A nice man remade our order, and we got our bagel with salmon(they forgot to toast it). Ultimately, we paid $ 9.25 for a disappointing, overly salty bagel and a few slices of mediocre salmon. Oh, and we were also treated incredibly rudely — so disappointing. FOOD: 2⁄5 ENVIRONMENT: 2⁄5 SERVICE: 1⁄5 VALUE: 1⁄5 OVERALL: 1⁄5

It’s hard to find good bagels in this city, especially everything bagels with lots of everything on both sides of the bagel. When they are adding cream cheese, they can over do it or underdo it and you will have absolutely no control over that. The place is quite dirty I guess no one cleans the dining room because the bench does not look like it gets any attention. Also watch out for being overcharged. This city is a rat race and even for as much as I can’t say nice things about this place, I can say they have the everything bagels I’m looking for.

Fabulous pastries, cakes and breads… but expensive and rushed, kurt service. $ 3.25 for a cheese Danish and $ 1.15 for a plain roll. Go to one of the nearby coffee carts instead. You’ll get better service, great product and it will be half the price.

Staying at a hotel by Hot & Crusty. The bellman recommended the cheesecake here. So here we are visiting New York and trying a New York cheesecake. The cheese cake was a little dry and we couldn’t taste the rum in the tiramisu. Not impressed.

Just the name of this chain is a joke: Hot n’Crusty? Eeaw. Nevertheless, one finds oneself(esp. with so many locations) trying not to consider scabs and throbbing sores, and needing some bread products.

06/07/2015, time 8:00 I was excited to try this place and I bought a oatmeal cookie once I got there. The cookie tasted ok. What really made me give«hot & crusty» a bad review was that the cashier(a young African American girl) had a horrible attitude when I just wanted to purchase a simple oatmeal cookie. I did not know it was a crime to ask a question or two about something I’m purchasing. She was just plain rude. I will take my business somewhere else next time. Customer service is everything and I will pass on my comments to friends about this place.

I was not impressed by this store and it was not even on my list of choices to grab a bite before our NYC adventure. It was upon the insistence of my mom that we come and I wasn’t impressed. The area is super tiny and cramped. It was unclear where to order, and it’s awkward to be standing there reading the menu in such a tiny space. That being said — I ordered the asian chicken salad. They ran out of sesame seeds so they replaced with sunflower seeds. They ran out of sesame ginger salad dressing so they let me choose… There were no other options remotely close to sesame ginger so I chose Italian. It was just a regular boring chicken salad with an overload of edamame and almonds. My dad ordered the pastrami Reuben and my mom ordered a beef quesadilla. It was DRIPPING with grease. It was fine for a quick bite and I should have ordered a bagel but I chose wrong. I wouldn’t come back, there are so many better establishments in NYC!
