I wish I could give this place 5 stars because the staff here is awesome. Sadly I was given bland soggy fried fish. The fries were gummy and bland as well. I want to believe that if I return it will be better, because the people there seem like a family. I think this is just a recipe problem, that with a few tweeks they can fix. I will return in a few months and see if anything has changed.

I will never eat here again! I ordered the 4 whiting with fries. The staff is nice but, the food, not so great. The fish had no flavor at all! No seasoning. There are better fish and chips places on and above 125th street!

The whiting are always perfect… Never over seasoned nor super greasy. I’ll continue to support

3.5 but I’m rounding up because, well, I love fish and chips in Harlem. They use whiting fish and although it could have been seasoned a little more, everything is made to order and the fish was nice and flaky. I ordered it to go which probably made the fries a little soggy just because of the condensation collecting in the to-go box, so I will give them the benefit of a doubt ;) The to-go box came with some packets of tarter sauce/hot sauce/and ketchup. The place is cute — clean and looks like it can seat 20 people comfortably. Ordered the 5 piece whiting fish with chips($ 8.50) and including tax, it came out to about $ 9.25. Another reason Unilocal should add 3.5 stars — I thought it was lil pricey… but like I said, I support Harlem, family owned fish and chips places. The fillets of fish were pretty big and it was enough to feed me and my boyfriend(shared into 2 portions) so I’m giving them 4 stars. Conveniently 2 avenues across from Columbia’s East Campus Dorm, I’d give it a wander over here. Next time, I would like to eat inside the restaurant so that my food is fresh, fresh, fresh and not affected by condensation from my to-go box :)
