Harlem Cake Man Raven Bakery

Although I’ve read and heard countless positive reviews of Cake Man’s Red Velvet creation, I never had the pleasure of trying one of his cakes until last weekend. I had a relative’s birthday and wanted to do something special, so I felt that a birthday cake from Cake Man Raven just might do the trick. I will summarize the experience with one word: PERFECT! Cake Man has created a red velvet cake that is simply flawless: frosting that is not too sweet with just the right ratio and consistency, a level of moisture that is highly pleasing to the senses without diminishing the texture, and an overall rich taste that leaves you craving for more. This was without a doubt one of the best cakes I’ve had in my life, and it was no surprise to be asked the same question all night: «Where did this cake come from?!» Cake Man, I WILL be returning.

Finding Cakeman again is amazing!!! My bestfriend and his wife were celebrating their anniversary in NY. The conversation quickly turned to how great it would be if Cakeman still had his shop! Well, I was browsing Unilocal for something totally unrelated and discovered Cakeman’s Harlem location! I ordered a cake on Wednesday. Wayne delivered it to my job on Friday night. I surprised my friends on Saturday! That was his wife’s first time eating red velvet cake since 2012. She will only eat Cakeman’s red velvet cake. Wayne is professional, prompt and friendly. Give him a call for your next cake.

I don’t know where to start… Do I start off with the cake or Wayne!!! OMG!!! So Wayne was a preview to the cake which was a delight. He gave the best customer service EVER! And not to mention he’s really really cute. BUT when I tasted the cake… ummmm. I thought I died and went to heaven. Cakeman… you make the BEST red velvet cake in the UNIVERSE… not just NY. No one can even come close to you!!!
I ordered this cake on the last minute for my mom’s birthday party. No one has ever tasted your cake before and bc I knew it was worth it. I drove from long island to Harlem. My sister after taking her first bite stopped, looked at me and said…“THIS IS THE BEST CAKE I’VE TASTED IN MY LIFE.“

Oh Cake Man Raven… how i’ve missed you! If you know my posts on here fellow Unilocalers, you know that getting a 5 star rating out of me is really hard! I am such a foodie and my expectations are high. So when I give a 5 star rating you should head there! Run not walk!!!
Background– I have been a big fan of Cake Man Raven’s red velvet cake since he was in Brooklyn down the street from the Jollof African restaurant over on Fulton! I loved heading there for sweet red velvet after i’d go to Jollof.
However, my accessibility to Cake Man Raven’s red velvet cake changed a few years ago when I relocated to upstate NY. A year laster I came back home to visit only to find that he was gone
I tried the offerings from the new place, Pieces of Velvet which is his his former staff, but it was not the same. I will say that I do not like chocolate although i love Cake Man Raven’s Red Velvet. However, this is because it is light and airy while being moist and dense in flavor all in one! I feel like i’m eating velvety red velvet and not a Dunkin Hines Double chocolate cake. Pieces of V just did not hit the mark for me!
The next day, I headed to Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn as I head he was there! SUCCESS!!! I got my slices and headed back upstate (6 hours away)!
A year later i came back, headed to Atlantic and he was gone
If you know the Temptations song «Papa was a rolling stone,» well so was Cake Man Raven! But as a devoted fan of his craft I followed wherever he laid his hat… or better yet set up shop.
Now a year later, I headed back downstate and eagerly called to get me some yummy slices! OMG They don’t sell them anymore and my options were cupcakes or a whole cake. Man… i’m on weight watchers so i knew that buying a whole cake was bad news but hey you gota do what you gota do when you want the nuts and icing filling in the middle!
Unfortunately, due to the overwheling response they received prior to my impromptu order, I was SOL for Saturday. However, they went above and beyond allowing I was able to pick it up on Sunday despite being closed!
Talk about fantastic customer service!!!
So how was it??? Omg! It was amazing. So good i must freeze it so i can ensure portion control.
Thank you so much Cake Man Raven and your really really gorgeous employee/​cop for making my dream of enjoying «non-​overly chocolate» red velvet a reality!!!

YESSSSSS!!! Cakeman is back… My family is sooo excited, because we are truly addicted to his world famous Red Velvet cake. We were going through withdrawal. We also had the best customer service experience EVER, with Wayne. You are the BEST. …Thank you …

OMG!!! We found cake man Raven…
It was my bosses birthday on 03−04−16. I was brainstorming as to the cake I was going to purchase. Cake man had a bakery in Brooklyn which was much easier for us to grab or order a cake when we needed one.
Wayne answered the telephone EARLY in the morning. He was happy to take my order via telephone. I purchased the Red Violet cake. This is the BEST red velvet you will EVER have. His recipe is down to a science where it is PERFECT EVERYTIME!!! The cake was beautifully decorated. Moist, delicious, JUST PERFECT!
Look him up, place your order. He will not disappoint!

After searching for weeks because my mom only wanted her birthday cake from one place, I have finally found Cake Man! Wayne made sure everything was exactly the way I wanted and more! My mom was truly surprised and the cake of course was delicious!!! Will definitely be ordering more cakes

Cake Man Raven Have not skip a beat making those red velvet cakes, he also has this new cake out call Trinity its off the chain to die for you guys should try it.
