I’ve been a Hale & Hearty fan for several years now and have become even more addicted since the five toppings salad deal became a permanent fixture on the menu. For about $ 10 you get the four basic toppings(carrots, red onions, croutons and cucumbers) and five of anything else. What this means is that you could actually include five servings of chicken… but that would be uncivilized. Typically I’ll have avacado, crasins, chickpeas, and one scoop of the cajun grilled chicken along with one serving of the pesto variety. The lemon vinaigrette — man, I could drink that stuff! This for me is the highlight of the salad. Of course, H&H has delicious soup and salad combos that are worth the trapse from your desk. I’ve yet to have any that I didn’t like.

The largest selection of soups I’ve seen in the city so far. Decide from the menu quickly — the line moves fast.

Soups are usually great, but the new«Administrative Charge» is not what I would call free delivery

This place is convenient to my work which is good. However the employees are dishonest and don’t listen to your order. They will ignore what you say and not update the board when a soup is sold out. If the soup you want is sold out they won’t even tell you they’ll just move onto the next person without offering any alternatives. Be very careful when going there.

A lot of great choices for soups and sandwiches. They have lunch specials where you get a soup and ½ a sandwich. The only thing I’m not a fan of is that a lot of their soups are high in sodium/salt. but maybe my taste buds are sensitive.

It’s tiny & it seems this one has earlier closing hours since I saw them stacking chairs up around 8 p.m. The upside is I was ready to buy a salad here but learned they were discontinuing their paper loyalty cards & since I had enough stamps on mine for it, I was able to get a free salad with my card(the deadline, if you have one, is January 1st& you need at least 4 stamps on your bean or green card; the bean is for soup & the green is for salad). Yummy stuff, as usual & I like that they have pitchers of tap water. I swear the Italian dressing tasted more vinegary than I remember but overall, I have no complaints.

Chopped salad They forgot a couple of ingredients and added a few ingredients I didn’t ask for It came out to be a pretty small salad and I was still hungry after I finished it. It was ~$ 11 Although it was fresh and tasted good, I think I will go somewhere else for a simple chopped salad next time.

I visited today during my lunch break at work, and I was not disappointed. I got a half-sandwich, half-soup combo, and it was yummy and not a crazy price for a meal that filled me up. Today was icky and rainy outside, so getting soup was exactly what I needed. It was a bit crowded when I went around 1:30-ish in the afternoon, but I expected as much from Manhattan during a Friday lunch hour. The reason I’m only giving four stars is because while I was satisfied with my visit, it wasn’t really any better or exciting than other options with the same kind of food around here, like Panera, or any 7−11-like shops that also have soups and sandwiches.

Cheap and quick. I like the fact you can sample all the soups prior to purchasing. They have a half soups and half sandwich deal which is a good deal. Sometimes I eat just the soup and save the sandwich for later.

Yes, Hale and Hearty is an omnipresent chain in New York, but dammit, the soup is good! When you need a quick bite, this place is very hard to beat. They also let you taste the soups before you buy, so don’t pass that up. Before you order a bowl of something new, taste it to make sure you like it. They have lot’s of variety, so if you stumble across something not to your taste, try something else until you arrive at the perfect match for you. I even stop in to have their smallest size bowl as a snack sometimes. Good soup, quick service, lots of variety – what more can you ask for!

A must! There are so many versions of this on every corner in New York City. And after trying so many of them, Hale and Hearty takes the cake every time! Fresh and really tasty with a bountiful menu, full of variety. I love that they post their daily menu on line. Just beware that they do sell out of soups quite often. The soup and ½ sandwich was almost a daily necessity when in the area. The hardest part of the visit here is not picking up their incredible chocolate chip cookies, heaven on earth.

Quick and hearty — so, the name works! I went for a ½ sammie, ½ soup. You can taste any of the soups before choosing and that is a huge plus because they have a ton of flavors. Also, «made 100% from scratch» is proven in the bold, delicious taste. They have their staple soups daily but their specialty soups change from day to day. I enjoyed my choice so much that I almost went back for seconds. I can’t remember the name but it was some type of Kale and Potato — delish. For the sammie, I went for the grilled chicken club: Bacon Ranch Dressing topped with Avocado, Tomato and Red Leaf Lettuce on a Ciabatta square. YUM! Perfect NYC stop for a chilly, rainy day lunch.

A little pricey but it gets the job done on days that I crave soup or their soup and sandwich combos. I typically get the lobster bisque or the crab bisque. I’ve tried some of their other soups and combinations and usually theyre good. The service here is good and its very quick. you’re in and out.

The food here is always awesome but thankfully the goodness of the food over powers the customer service. I’ve never seen such rudeness! I stood at the counter ready to order while the girl looked at me and walk away like I was invisible leaving the only girl working the soups alone to deal with the customers the manager had to tell the young lady on the sandwiches(who had her hands in her apron with a look of miserable on her face) to help her not one person was capable of smiling. I will always eat the soups from hale and hearty just never in this location.

If you want good soup as your meal this is a perfect place. There is a daily menu of soup so you’ll have to going and see what is cooking or what is left by the end of the day. We got a large ginger butternut soup($ 7.79) — good ginger flavor especial if you have a cold. The butternut uses coconut milk in case you have a problem with dairy. Quality: very good. Rate 4⁄5. The soup price is on the high side of a typical meal, with tax the price for this large soup is $ 8.48;you do get a piece of bread. A large soup is not enough if you are a meat & potato person. If you add a sandwich it will definitely over $ close to $ 20.

I absolutely love their soups! I never get bored because they constantly change them. They also let you try it before you buy it. Service in general has always been great. However, I don’t really their sandwiches but the combo is worth it. They’re not terrible, but definitely not as good as their soups. Prices are about average for lunch in the area. Too bad it’s cold right now because everyone goes to get soup. The line can be out the door, especially when the temperature dips to single digits. If you don’t go in peak season/time then you can usually get a table. Overall, I would definitely recommend this place.

My go to spot for lunch near my office. Majority of the staff is pleasant, mainly those in leadership positions. They’re always helpful and looking for ways to expedite things which I appreciate because the lunch rush can get a bit hectic. I always get a spinach salad and/or 10 veggie soup. I love that they offer to chop salads and offer bread with the soups. This is a fave!

This is such a great place. They have a ton of healthy soup and sandwich options and its super quick, even when there’s a long line during lunchtime rush hour. Favorites: chicken noodle soup, tomato basil soup & tomato basil sandwich. Overall, always a great experience.

Semi-regular lunch spot for me. I love soup period, and while their soups are nothing amazing, they certainly hit the spot. Huge variety and a medium soup with some crackers is a very simple and easy lunch for me. For a place that gets chaotic and packed during lunchtime, they manage it pretty well. However, recently the service has been sub-par. They’re either going downhill or just hired a bunch of newbies. For goodness sake, WIPETHESIDESOFTHECUP after you’ve ladled the soup in and put on a lid. When did this stop being a common practice? Lately I’ve been handled soiled cups of soup and getting my fingers dirtied. GROSS. Also, KNOWTHESOUPS. Stop trying to put rice in my cream of chicken rice soup. It’s already in there. I know this because I’ve ordered it before.

I ordered chicken noodle soup, which was filled with huge chunks of chicken, veggies and awesome spices that we’re not over powering. They had healthy drinks like Gatorade Zero! Which I drank up fast due to all the walking I had done. The tuna sandwich(was overflowing with tuna) on some kind of dark bread was amazing, fresh arugula, baby tomato, with a light sauce matched with plain flavored pop chips. All the food was so fresh, with efficient service and moderate prices
