Unfortunately, they raised their prices here at the beginning of the new year and now the pick five salads are over $ 11. I was okay with this until I went in to get my usual today. I was shocked to see their new packaging, which is a weak attempt to hide the fact that the salads are now significantly smaller. I want to say they’re about 30% smaller than the way they used to serve them. The cut back on their topping portions– one of mine was broccoli and I got three little pieces. On top of that, they’re charging the same prices. On top of thaaaat(if you can believe it) they started to mix in iceberg lettuce with their mixes which everyone knows is cheap and has no nutritional value. You’ve let me down Hale & Hearty! I’m gonna start going to Chopt or Pret which are both only a few doors down. I know that Pret has a few delicious salads for less than $ 9.

Stopped here for a quick– and I mean quick!– lunch while in the city for work. It was prime lunch hour and it was certainly packed, but the lines moved surprisingly fast. Before I could even decide what five toppings I wanted on my salad, it was my turn to order. It was crazy loud and I had a bit of a hard time hearing the people behind the counter, but they were all friendly and patient and quickly got my salad together and I was off to the check out line. There aren’t many seating options and the tables are pretty tiny, but my colleagues and I were somehow able to find enough room for the three of us to gather around and eat inside. Maybe I’m just not used to the pace of the city because I’m an out-of-towner, but it was definitely not somewhere I would sit and eat if I wanted to relax and unwind on my lunch break. The mass amounts of people running in and out and the rapid pace of the food service almost made me feel like I wanted to eat as fast as I could so I could get out and keep going. Because of how quick it was, though, I would definitely recommend this place for pick up, and if you wanted to find a quiet place to relax and eat I would recommend heading to the park across the street.

A good place to go for lunch while working. I like that they change up their soup options. I usually get the soup & half sandwich combo. Some of their soups are definitely no better than average, but I have yet to be truly disappointed by anything.

Came in here to grab something to eat before our foot tour. The place was very dirty! Maybe it’s because we went in one hour before closing. We ordered a beef chimichurri. It tasted like it needed to be heated up and probably needed more seasonings. Oh and hot sauce…

It’s across from Bryant Park. It’s super loud and crowded at lunch. It’s a Hale and Hearty. I lean towards the salad line because it moves much faster than sandwiches. Unlike Chop’t I haven’t yet been the victim of unripe ingredients or a line that’s out he door by 12 noon. Nice alternative to the typical salad joint.

I came here for dinner one night and disappointingly left hungry. First off the location is across the street from Bryant park. So I can see why other Unilocalers like taking their lunch over to the park. When k walked in the place was empty. That should if been my first indication to leave. They only have 3 salad choices. Spinach, Romaine, and mixed green. What no kale !!! Anyways I ordered the spinach with a few toppings chopped. The beets that I added in there was clearly old. I wouldn’t even chop. As for the customer service I felt like I was bothering the ladies. No smile, no hello. Just blatant stares. I know they were closing in 50 minutes, it wasn’t like I was walking in last minute after they’ve cleaned their stations. I also ordered a small lentil chili. I paid $ 17.80 for the 2 without a drink. When I sat down to eat my salad I noticed the woman put SO much balsamic vinegarette on it I couldn’t eat it. I even told her very light on the dressing. The dressing was too sour for my taste. For the Soup, and salad there’s nothing to «Hale» about.

Beware of the Hale and Hearty LevelUp App! Do NOT use it! Although the food is very good, I made the mistake of downloading and using the app to pay for lunch with my debit card. After using the app for 60 days or so, I received an overdraft alert from my bank, Chase. Apparently, Hale and Hearty in BOSTON charged my debit card $ 74.58 on Saturday 7÷25÷15. I immediately contacted Chase and explained that I had not made any purchase at Hale and Hearty in Boston so the charge appears to be fraudulent. Chase advised me that my account was apparently compromised through the use of the app. Chase has reversed the charge and overdraft fees associated with the transaction, closed my account, canceled my debit card and will issue a new debit card. I will continue to eat at Hale and Hearty, but I will ONLY pay cash, and I will not use(and have advise my friends, family and co-workers not to use) ANY debit or credit cards in any of their locations. I have deleted the app in an effort to prevent this from happening again. BEWAREOFTHEHALEANDHEARTYAPP!!!

Great for soup and salads. I don’t love the sandwiches. soup options are really extensive and the salads are either pre packaged or made to order. Very good options for a lunch place!

Very solid soup and salad place that’s great for lunch. A lot of options for soup with many unique and creative ones. I love how you can get the salads chopped. Excellent choice for lunch.

We stopped in here yesterday before going to work on a film. We picked H&H mainly because most of the other Grand Central options were not rated that highly or didn’t seem to have anything we wanted on the run. The Boyfriend picked Tomato Basil soup, which apparently has Orzo in it, and I had the Cauliflower Cheddar. Both soups were good, but the Cauliflower Cheddar was smooth, silky, and decadent. It was fabulous and I wouldn’t hesitate to order it again. The reason I didn’t give H&H five stars was because of the price. I loved the soup, but the reality is that I paid $ 17 for two soups and a fresh squeezed orange juice, and that just seems a little pricey.

We stumbled upon this place one frigid day after visiting the MoMA and we’ve wanted to go back ever since. I crave their tomato chicken soup. It’s packed with flavor and very creamy.

I go to H&H for 2 reasons. 1) I got fat and salad for lunch is the solution everybody goes with. 2) They had a punch card, which transitioned to them using Level Up. So I have an incentive to spend so I can get something free. They only get 3 stars because everybody knows that the amount of toppings you get in your salad is what makes or breaks the experience. The topping quantity at this H&H depends on which salad barrista you get. Some of them generous to a fault, while others make you want to swallow your pride and request a couple more beets. Also, there have been a couple of times where I have received frozen lettuce. Not a pleasant feeling to force yourself to down that.

Delicious soup that almost always hits the spot. The issues I have are related to the service. Nothing is very efficient and there is always confusion between the soup and sandwich line as they typically have one person for both. Where do you order sandwiches? Some people just walk up to the sandwich counter cutting the soup line. Sometimes the person who put your soup together also rings you up thereby leaving the soup area and other customers there. There is no easy process and even when the place is empty(Saturdays for example) it can take up to 10 minutes to get one small cup of soup. For someone who works nearby with a limited lunch break, this is no good!

This Hale & Hearty is located right next to my office, so it is a convenient place to grab a quick bite to eat. I have tried the Balsamic Chicken & Avocado and H&H Tuna Salad Sandwich. Neither of the sandwich was mind-blowingly delicious, but they left my stomach satisfied. The Balsamic Chicken & Avocado sandwich highlights a mix of shredded grilled chicken and balsamic mayo(tastes similar to pulled chicken). The sandwich is served on a cibatta square(the bread was a bit dry) and has baby arrugula and avocado slices. H&H is pretty skimp on the arugula and the avocado. It could also use less mayo and more chicken. The H&H Tuna Salad Sandwich is a classic tuna salad sandwich. Nothing too interesting. Again, there wasn’t much tomato and lettuce, and too much mayo. It’s served on a long 7-grain roll. I probably wouldn’t go out of my way to eat at Hale & Hearty, but for now it’s just conveniently located so I come here for lunch. I would try the soup next.

It is a bit overpriced but their soups are definitely great. The menu changes every day and is different at each location. The sandwiches are also very good so a soup and half a sandwich is a good lunch combo. For my list of great lunch spots in New York, please see

My new favorite lunch spot in midtown. Yes, it’s overpriced. But it’s cold out and when I need some soup, I’m going to bury my face in some. I’ve tried a variety of their soups since I started going a couple months ago, and they’re all pretty good! I’ve had the… mushroom risotto(a little less risotto, and a little too much soup in my opinion), chicken and broccoli(note, this isn’t chicken CHEESE and broccoli, just chicken and broccoli. Think what you will), sweet corn chowder(in my top 2 — actually pretty nice tasting, corn-y, and filling), and the best thing ever — Broken lasagna(like someone took a lasagna, smooshed it up, and stuck it in a bowl — HEAVEN). Get some.

I’m sure if you looked up «winter season» in the dictionary, «soup season» will be included in the definition. Anyway, I work around the corner at Bank of ‘Murrica(America) so I come by H&H on a frequent basis for lunch. I am just absolutely AMAZED how incredily efficient these guys are! They seemed to have perfected the art of operation management as people that come by during lunch time are in and out in less than ten minutes. Seriously, every other place that I’ve been to makes me feel like I’m going to be trampled on because it’s just so busy except H&H! The soup is like all the other H&H soups – packed with sodium(my favorite!) with various specialties every week(THAICHICKEN? UGHH, soo good). I’m such a fan that I even signed up for their daily newsletter of which soups they’re serving. Their prices are reasonable; I’ve never spent more than ten bucks on lunch. Check it out! If not for the soup, for the operational efficiency!

Over priced madness! I ordered HALF a roast beef sandwich and some chips and I paid $ 8. I was so confused. Then when they warmed up my sandwich it looked like a flat panini instead of an actual sandwich like it did pre heating. The sandwich encasing was barren so not like I had much to choose from anyway. The roast beef was bland. I always wondered what I’ve been missing but now I know, absolutely nada.

$ 7PLUS bucks for a small salad?! no thank you i’d probably rather spend my money at Panera Bread! it’s not bad, just not really worth it IMO Hale & Hearty is a chain restaurant in NYC that allows you FULLCUSTOMIZATION of your salad(you pay extra per add-in, although cucumbers, carrots, onions, & crutons are free i believe) & you get FREE bread/yummy oyster crackers w/your salad! they also sell soups, sandwiches, wraps, cookies. plus you can make combo meals but i probably won’t be back NOTE: get a stamp card if you want to become a regular!
