Sometimes you do things even when you really don’t want to. You know like visiting the dentist or going to work. lol. That happened to me the other nite with my buddy Lou. We were suppose to meet downtown for a drink and meet up with a few old friends. However what was suppose to be a bar on the upper west side turned into a niteclub in Chelsea. Look, when I was younger you couldn’t keep me out of niteclubs. I basically lived in them with my buddies for my entire teens to late twenties. However things have changed and while I still absolutely LOVE the nitelife still, I’ve grown a bit weary of the niteclub scene. I prefer a chill lounge or fun bar where you can usually breath, move, and hear the other person you’re speaking to. Unfortunately on this particular nite, this was not to be. I’m not gonna sit here and tell you it was a horrible nite but it reminded me why I don’t do the club scene anymore. The entire night was full of speakers too close to my head, people bumping into me, guys grabbing my waist to pass by(I hate that shit!!), chicks spilling drinks on my shirt, little hard workign Mexicans running around with tubs full of empty drink cups, the DJ talking more than he spins, bouncers standing in the way of EVERYTHING and just a really stale smell of desparation lingered in the air. Yeah, surprises me too that I used to love that environment. lol. However not all was bad. My buddy runs the door so we didn’t have to pay those ridiculous niteclub prices. Also, the music selection was great. Heavy Hitter, DJ C-Lo, played a excellent mix of today’s hits with some classic joints from the 80’s and 90’s. So when I was able to find a place close enough to the speaker that I could enjoy the music but not too loud that I would have a ringing in my ear for weeks, I was able to bop my head and rock out. The eye candy wasn’t so bad either but fellas if you are looking for a high hot chick ratio, look elsewhere. Lots of «if I have one more drink» chicks here if that’s your thing. lol. The place itself isn’t really big at all. The first floor is very small and terribly tight. The second while more spacious and more«loungy», it still suffers from«too many elbows». By the end of the nite, I left feeling good about knowing I’m really not missing much by not clubbing anymore. Sure the music is top notch and the chicks are pretty cute but that’s just not enough to keep me coming back. Next time you see me out it’ll be at a chill lounge or bar, sipping something cool.

1.5 stars if I could. The crowd was terrible(although it was around my age group; mid-late twenties). Music wasn’t all that great(I forgot if I went on a Friday or Saturday night) and drinks were very pricey. At least they give you almost a triple shot when you order the patron. I didn’t know there was an automatic 18% gratuity on credit cards so when I told her I wanted to pay cash instead, the bartender said it was too late & there was nothing she could do & walked away from me. Okkk thanks.

Did this place close? Lets hope so for the sake of New Yorkers in General. I wouldn’t even wish this place on tourists… its that bad. I have been to Home once and Guest house another time. One was a a regular night, and the other was NYE last year. Since it is new years and things are always crazy, I will do my best not to hold that against them. However, making us stand in the cold 30 min after they were supposed to open the door seven though we had pre-purchased tickets? F-You This is a bar version of the show«Jersey Shore» except without Snookie, who is the reason we watch in the first place! Tips: Guys: have a lot of money and get table service, otherwise don’t plan on getting in right away(or at all). We had table service and the actual service was pretty terrible, but what do they care? With their mandatory tipping percentage on every bottle, they don’t have to be nice to you. You’re lucky you got in the door in the first place, remember? Girls: Make sure you have Mace to protect yourself. I just can’t believe that our society(especially in this economy) allows it to still be OK for bars/clubs to make customers fight to get into a place, only to be treated like crap and charged tons of money for a drink that is pretty much water with a splash of vodka on top. I wish that were it, but I could go on for a while. I’ll leave you with this final tidbit just to really set home what a gem this place is. Remember the pre-mention of Guys getting tables to get the girls? Well then they just get them as drunk as possible until bam, your friend ends up getting peed on while trying to get her coat out of coat check because half the girls cant stand up. Classy

I am so confused. Was I at Home or Guesthouse? It was a confusing conundrum of a labyrinth. I was drunk. It was 230 in the morning on a Saturday. Who knows. Memories of the night: –both sides were PACKED. –there was VERY loud techno playing. I despise techno. –the bar was BUSY, but the service was speedy and my drink was delicious –i went(to my) home a very happy woman

I went on a wednesday night. at 11pm, by 12:30 it was jam packed. Hip/Hop/Reggae music & crowd. Layou in the shape of a L was akward with no real room to dance, just people standing around jam packed not dancing. Nothing special. No problem at the door didnt need table service to sit. it was ok for a wednesday.

Let me preface this review by saying that I don’t like house music, nor do I like being around people who are only in the club to stand there and look pretty in their expensive dresses until they get drunk enough to jump up and down and call it dancing. That being said, it makes perfect sense that I hated this place. The two guys that we(3 girls) were with had to pay the bouncer for us to get in, which I urged them not to, since I could tell by the looks of the line what I was getting into. Once inside I could only stand it for about 20 minutes before going home. As they would say in Men on Film– Haaaated it!

Wow this place sucked. We were 6 girls and had to wait in line for a very long time. And the only reason we got in was because some event promoter picked us out of the crowd. The rest of the line wasn’t even a line, as everyone else just tried to bumrush the bouncer to get in(are people really that desperate??). The crowd inside was awful. The music was House/Euro and you couldn’t hear a word anyone was saying even if they were screaming. Also, everyone gets«patted» down(aka molested) by the woman security guard. Is that really necessary? Where could I possibly put a concealed weapon inside my booty shorts and tank top?

This review is based on the management that presides over both Guesthouse and Home. First off, I had a table with bottle service mainly because I am friends with people who are good friends with the manager. We left our jackets at the table at the end of the night. I tried to retrieve them and they claimed that they were all missing. There were about 3 different jackets there and it is ridiculous to be missing all of them. When I called to get them back they told me 4 different times that someone would call me back but they never did. Then when they finally said they would check the lost and found, I am guessing she just put me on hold and never looked. Whatever the circumstance may be, for an upscale joint, they should really look out for the patrons belongings. I have been to dive bars where the bouncer won’t let people walk out with jackets, however, here it seems that they don’t care. It’s packed and even if you get in, its not worth it.

I came here pretty early(11:30) on a Friday night with a girlfriend, we got in no problem. The space itself is nothing special. Crowd was not that interesting. I think there was a Scandinavian party(whatever that means) so maybe this wasn’t a typical night. Music was house/euro. boo. We only stayed for about 40 min.

This review is based on the first time I went there… when it was the new hotspot in the meatpacking district and like the notrious clubs in the district; to get in be prepared to look great and spend a lot. Guys, don’t even think about getting in the door past midnight unless you want bottle service. However, once you make it past the door, it’s a relaxing sea of party revelers all dancing to the beat of an invisibly unifying song. Tall model lookalikes, wealthy men and great-looking people abound. The dj spins everything from new hip-hop favorites to 80s dance anthems to Rock. The great thing about this place is that everyone is dancing. I went for a girls night out on Friday and had a blast. If you forget the door, you will too. Models and wealthy men may not apply anymore as I have never een back after my treatment last time.

Bridge-and-tunnel. Crowded. Dark. Looks like a club out of the 90s that hasn’t made a transition to the new millenium. My boy Sid was DJing that night with his entourage of live drummers on the bongos… That was cool. But seriously, the people were many and they were annoying. Sucks that cool music can be ruined by a not-so-cool scene. Later in the evening Sharam/Dubfire wannabes got up in the booth and started playing«I wish we were Deep Dish» music. It was pretty good but one of the entourage was trying too hard to look cool. My guess is he drives a BMW. I’d give this place 2 stars, but since the music was pretty poppin’ I’ll give it 3.

I’m not sure if I liked this place. I mean, Home was ok, and to come back to the same area(it’s funny how there are actually THAT many clubs around this 4 block radius) felt a little redundant. Basically the main space is one big L. Victor L. Snap. It’s set up to gaze, as is Home. The loungy quality is strictly seating along the walls and sides, and in the middle, you walk down and feel the gaze(or not) of whoever happens to be sitting around. Drinks are ridiculous, I still hate paying 7 bucks for a bottle of beer. The great thing is, on a weekday night, it just wasn’t that crowded, and actually full of… suits? So there was room to cut up the proverbial rug with a couple of good tunes, a couple of bad ones, but the music, while extremely loud, was pretty funky. It’s just not much of an inspiration; for being in a chic, unmarked, industrial area, going up the stairs to low lights and 3 dollar coat checks means that there had better be a party here. Because if there isn’t, you’re not going to get much out of it. Really.

I’ve reviewed a handful of clubs before this and honestly I’m running out of things to say about them… because they’re all basically the same. There are some subtleties in a few, like Marquee’s two dance floors and Cielo’s music-sensitive wall lighting, but they’re all effectively the same. GuestHouse is really, really standard. That’s not to say that it’s bad — I had a good time, even though we were only there for ~30 minutes, but it’s just so… middle-of-the-road. And for the love of god, Cain and GuestHouse, GETRIDOFTHOSESTUPIDDRUMS.

I have no voice today. You know why? because I’m the moron who tried to carry on a conversation in a club like this. Bah. Drinks are pricey, but the bartenders are really nice(I find this to be a rarity in the NY club scene!). $ 50 credit card minimum? Oh right… not really a problem if you have like 2 drinks… ok maybe 4 but you know what I mean. Lots of oompts oompts oompts. Some good oompts, some bad oompts, but it was still fun times. Everyone was smoking inside, which means I am stinky now, but that’s why we have showers I suppose! Overall…It was good, just not… great.

After Kanvas failed to provide any scene whatsoever, I took my girls here. I don’t go to clubs. I think we were looking for Bungalow 8, and this place let us in. The music sucked. No classic hip-hop, contemporary hip-hop or R&B. There wasn’t anything with words. Just doonz doonz doonz doonz. And all the guys seemed to think they had the right to dance with ANY girl in the club, not matter how ridiculously ugly, young, old, fat, whatever, the guy was. They couldn’t understand we wanted our own private dance party of three. Oh, and the drinks were three times as much as I thought they would be. I was glad we pre-partied.

I just went here Tuesday night for the after party for BET’s Rip The Runway. The DJ was off da hook! He was spinning everything from classic hip hop to contemporary hip hop and R&B. Drinks were decent. But the atmosphere was fun.

I agree with Jay that the design scheme here is a bit better than at Home, but that doesn’t make it a better scene. It really is just an extension of Home, which just isn’t that great to begin with. And, inexplicably, after about an hour, they cut off the bridge that links the two and stopped allowing people to move back and forth. I mean, really, what is the point of having two connecting clubs if you’re not going to let people go back and forth!
