Came by after a tour at the MET. The drinks are great! Strong and tasty. We had the chicken sliders which were ok. It comes with some cole slaw which was a little dry. But honestly you cannot go wrong with an Old Fashion at this place. More than anything this is a great place for history and art nerds to get a little alcohol in them and continue enjoying the MET’s awesome exhibits.

A spectacular setting for drinks and light snacking. Sit back with a martini and imagine the inimitably rich holdings — artistic, cultural, monetary — that surround you.

Simply remarkable. They have live music. A 4-piece ensemble with a grand piano and 3 strings. They sat us just across from the piano and the other performers. Heavenly. This place is tucked away on the second floor of the museum and overlooks the entrance hall. They are open Friday and Saturday eves 4−8pm. We had the cheese plate, which was absolutely rewarding. The cheeses were served with a fig paste and little pieces of toasted bread. We had to keep asking for toast bread refills. We also ordered a bottle of prosecco, which was a an amazing homerun for the evening. Unbelievably refreshing and delicious. When we moved the party to another restaurant on the UES(Italian no less), we were unable to get another prosecco that seemed a worthy follow-up to the offering at the Balcony Bar. All the while, the music was inspirational. If you’re ever looking for an early eve activity for either Friday or Saturday, I can’t imagine anything better. Guaranteed amazing date. If you’ve got time, take the day and see the museum too.
