Delicious. Even beyond the pizza. I can’t get enough of the capriciossa salad(chicken Milanese style with grilled veggies, lettuce, mozzarella, artichoke and avocado). Great bang for your buck and honestly great service. Very local and no frills. Feels like a real mom and pop place. And very dog friendly :)

i live a few doors down so it’s very convenient… but I’d travel for good food. I read a review that Gino’s and Delizia are comparable but I have to say the pizza at Gino’s is better(I do love Delizia’s salads though). The grandmas slice is amazing and I love the Sicilian, but they always run out mid-day. It’s the sauce that makes it. Don’t forget to order garlic knots. Theirs are amazing.

Every pizza from Gino’s is unbelievable, from plain to meatlovers it’s full of deliciousness and they’re chicken parmesan with spaghetti and chicken parmesan sub are all delicious they’re one of my favorite Italian places I’ve ever had. They’re food is so good they could be called delicious pizza and it wouldn’t be an advertising name!

Gino’s pizza was recommended to me by two UES locals so I figured it was time for me to check it out. Me and my brood headed uptown on a Sunday night and we were not disappointed. The restaurant is a typical pizza parlor. The staff is friendly and helpful. We had: Stuffed Artichoke — delicious Special Salad with salami and cheese — very good Chicken Parmigiana — very good Pasta a la norma — good but Tony DiNapoli’s is better We will definitely come back and order in!

I came here with my friend that I volunteer with on her suggestion, as she is apparently a regular. Super cute little hole in the wall! The service was great, the bread was warm, and we split two entrees: the eggplant tello special(What’s tello, we asked? Just a name, said the waiter. Okay) and the chicken parm, which was DELICIOUSANDAMAZING. Would definitely come here again!

Food is fresh but nothing to rant or rave about. They only take cash which is a pain. Service is just mediocre and even more banal and rude when placing an order. Rude is not funny. I’m not going there anytime soon. No Matter what amount of notice given, they are always late… And grumpy…

I come here for pizza slices with a free toppings of rude service. If you’d like to experience bad service along with your pizza please come here around 8 pm. They will not disappoint. The guy will grunt in response to your queries and not offer you a box to carry your slices.

Small and intimate but a large menu of copious Italian favorites. Gracious service. A neighborhood gem.

Yummy fettucine alfredo, huge portions of side veggies, great pizza. I’m a fan! Seemed to be frequented by older clientele who live locally. LOVE the warm italian bread served w/an entrée. Host was very solicitous in general and sweet w/my 7-year old daughter.

As i sit here sipping on only the finest of the eagle rare, sinking back into the thick microfiber of my brother’s recliner beneath his tv’s warm glowing warming glow, I can’t help but return endlessly in my mind to the savory saintliness and(im)mortal bliss of Gino’s spaghetti puttanesca. People, hark! This puttanesca was a fine, fine specimen, almost a fable in its pure, inconceivable delectability, nothing less than a perfect red sauce swimming with olives and capers and so much more, poured over the classic pasta espaghetti like the steaming regurgitation of some beautiful dream from God Himself. I speak this not lightly. Indeed, I speak with desire, strong, deep desire– desire to return to Gino’s for some more of that sweet sweet puttanesca RIGHTNOW– but alas, it’s closed! Ye gods! Tomorrow I head to LaGuardia at 7:15am. Gino’s, why must you torment me so with your willful 12:00pm Sunday opening, thereby ensuring that I forgo one final serving of puttanesca for breakfast?! It’s fine. I understand. The genius men of Gino’s need their rest, and I blame them not for it. Rest those hands, gentlemen– rest those hands that have done so much for this workingman’s tongue. Rest them, keep them warm, keep them primed, for soon you shall be preparing your puttanesca for other such undeserving souls, and that, at least, gives this old grumbler some comfort.

Wish I could give this place a zero. Owner behind the counter is extremely nasty and rude to customers. Had major attitude when I came in with a friend for a slice of pizza. We asked for a box to go and he rolled his eyes, told us he was low on boxes and mumbled something under his breath. Not how you treat customers supporting your store! All of this for mediocre pizza with too much cheese and uncooked crust. AVOID!!! not worth it!

I ordered here with my family for my birthday last night and generally enjoyed it. It was hit or miss. The side of fried calamari I ordered left a lot to be desired. It was rubbery and pretty flavorless, I think I’d opt against that if I were to order from here again. On the flip side, the chicken parmesan entrée was very above par from your typical pizza joint. The cheese and sauce were both pretty tasty, and they give you a large portion. I definitely wouldn’t order from here expecting a life altering dining experience, but if you want decent Italian fare at very reasonable UES prices, you’ve got a good option here.

Nice Pies. Brought someone who said at the outset«one slice only» but ordered seconds quickly after the first slice was gone. The«small» antipasta salad was enough for a full meal. Much friendlier service than expected. Tiramisu was probably the best I“ve ever had. Not 5 stars because the House Wine wasn’t served room temperature but significantly warmer. Please move the bottles away from wherever the heat source was, or shield them better.

Gino’s is my neighborhood pizza joint, and it’s damn good, says this gal originally from Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. Slices are best, kept light and not weighed down by toppings. But if toppings are your thing, you definitely get your money’s worth. And that money better be cash money, since Gino’s is cash only. ***To address the«attitude» mentioned in other reviews — when you are coming through the front door of the place, you’ll notice a white decal that says, «Pray for Gino». If you read the small sign taped all the way to the right on the glass pizza case, you’ll understand better what’s going on. Meet that surl with a smile and kind word of encouragement. The point is, excuse the surl, there’s a reason for it and it’s nothing worse than you’d experience at a New York establishment like Peter Luger’s. Enjoy the great classic New York pizza at prices that won’t break the bank. A great article about Gino:

The family had an amazing meal at Gino’s tonight. We had lasagna, eggplant parm., grilled talapia, & sausage and peppers parm. Amazing. Everything was reasonably priced, the portions were generous and scrumptious, and the service from our waiter Louis, was second to none. My new favorite Italian restaurant. Highly recommended.

Really good fresh pizza, garlic knots were amazing. Definitely a jewel in the UES, with delicious pizza. Service was good and fast, people attending behind the counter are very friendly. Inexpensive pizza place in the neighborhood that’s worth the trip. I didn’t have anything but pizza, but I will be back for more.

The plain cheese slice was not very good. There was way too much cheese and not enough sauce. The cheese was so heavy and greasy that it made the entire bread/crust underneath soggy. I prefer a crisper crust with less cheese and more sauce. Also the bathroom had no toilet paper.

As part of crawling through the list of top slice joints in Manhattan according to Slice Harvester( ), I had to hit Gino’s. Out of the hundreds of pizzerias this psycho visited, this is one of only 28 that he called a great slice. What’s also great is that Gino’s is an old school place that looks less like a pizzeria and more like a restaurant, especially from the outside, even though you can sit down and just grab a slice. The place was almost full when I went in on a cold winter night, which was also a good sign. Most of the guys behind the counter were Italian, and after a short wait they called me up to grab my slice. As an average street slice, Gino’s is pretty stellar. Lots of gooey cheese with a little grease, the crust had the right textures, and they didn’t skimp on the suace. I wish they had topped with a bit more restraint, that the dough had fermented a little more, and that they left in the oven for 30 more seconds. This isn’t a destination slice by any means, but it is a great everyday slice that I would be happy to have in my neighborhood. Well above average and well worth it.

This is one of the best of the genre: great American dinning in the classic family neighborhood sense. It’s fun-food is good(I have had several different pasta and chicken dishes there– I eat here once a week), wine is reasonable and everyone is nice since it is a family run business. It’s my standby for ease of convenience– it’s a few blocks or so away. It’s reasonable and the portions are fare. I also have had good success with their deliver. Chicken Marsala is pretty good for the genre and they seem to know how to cook the pasta– a little more al dente.
