I love the bar and the people that come, but the bartenders are awful. I am a previous bartender, I understand how to count a pour. On the visit today one pour equaled half a shot and the other pour equaled 2⁄3 of a shot. Same problem on the second round. When you are paying $ 16 for two well drink you expect to get at least a shot. I just paid $ 8 for a diet coke and less than a ½ a shot of alcohol. I guess that is how they stay open in chelsea high rent district.

It’s a different crowd than that in Hell’s Kitchen for sure! I liked the diversity here, but wished they had a true dance floor because the music here rocks! It’s more on the hiphop side, but the remixes are excellent. This is a cruisier bar where people aren’t really dancing but more just checking out the scene. I guess it’s what you want it to be, and it’s definitely conducive to conversation because the music isn’t too loud. There are dancers on the stages, and a large central bar that takes up a majority of the space. Coat check is in the back as is the bathroom.

I like it head, good drinks and nerd night is awesome on mondays. Only downside I didn’t like is that it’s cash only :(but there is an atm in the back near bathrooms overall good though.

Some of the bartenders(especially the bald one) have an attitude and are unnecessarily sassy toward both men and women. The drinks are extremely expensive and weak, though I’d be more willing to overlook that if the ambiance were better. I get that G Lounge is going for the chic, upscale«designer bar» vibe, and it could definitely work if the clientele weren’t primarily comprised of obnoxious women looking to get complimented by gay guys, and guys who like standing around talking more than they like dancing. The paid dancers are lame here too. Maybe 3 dancers on Fridays and Saturdays, otherwise it’s a sad lone dancer giving a perfunctory booty shake or two to mostly empty club. Other gay bars offer a far better and more entertaining line-up of dancers without the weird wannabe-classy vibe.

I have been going to g lounge from the day it opened, in fact, people refer to it as «my place» … However, it is clear that they have lost their way and have no idea how to treat their post work — happy hour crowd. Why is a room that is 9/10ths filled with guys over 50 subjected to music from lame hip hop videos played at such a LOUDVOLUME? Just to please one bartender? I understand turning up the volume at 7 or 8pm. But At 6pm? So loud that we had to run out the door to save our hearing? I have no idea when and if we will go back.

Apparently they don’t realize that it doesn’t matter if I am male or female gay or straight… I still am a paying customer. I still have money in my hand willing to buy a drink. I shouldn’t be ignored because i am female. I saw an old lady at the bar waiting to have her drink refilled. The bartender wasn’t busy. He was dancing and fooling around making the guys laugh. I should have taken a video. I waited a few minutes and counted to ten. I never saw that lady get served. I could understand if they were busy but they weren’t. I wonder if they are hiring, I would love to just screw around and ignore customers based on their genitalia rather than their money.

Gone are the days when G lounge was a fun great bar to hang at. The fact that they have the nerve to charge nine dollars for a small pabst blue ribbon beer in a plastic cup that measured no more than 10 ounces and was Smaller than the size of my palm is utterly ridiculous and ripping off their clientele. Goodbye G and good luck it’s no surprise your days are numbered.

Not-so-lady-friendly. Although the Drag performances were fun and on point, and the music was great, my female friends and I were disrespected multiple times by the DJ and bartenders. We were ignored multiple times and they let other men cut in front of us. The DJ even said I couldn’t have a birthday song played for me because, ‘You said Birthday GIRL, so probably not.‘ One of the bartenders was even rude to the point of not making eye contact with me after saying something about it. We left due to the way I felt, I eventually ended up crying, which is quite out of character for me. It was my birthday. I just wanted to feel like I belonged, and I thought I could as a lesbian in a gay bar. The drinks were small and expensive, too.

I dropped by this bar a few times over the past couple of years. The music is usually good. Through all of my visits, I never stayed long enough to order a cocktail. The clientele are diverse however a similarity in mindset probably is common because even though I looked like and dressed like many of the bars’ patrons, I did not feel comfortable. Unsurprisingly, I stopped by on my way to and/or from other bars. The circular bar is not pleasing especially if you want to make your way through the crowd easily. It was okay but nothing really appealed to me outside of the music I heard. I read it used to be really good however it was fair at best when I briefly there.

I was dragged here a few times lately and I enjoyed the company but this place has become sterile lately. I was going to write a very negative review because the layout of this place sucks esp. when it gets really crowded and of course the worst kind of Chelsea gays hang out here, but it’s also fun to make fun of them! lol However they had happy hour here on a Sat night, which I was surprised to know. And the music was alright. Overall I still don’t care for the place much because of the bitchy vibe and there’s nothing to do here usually except stand and drink. No pool table or beer pong. And they still don’t accept credit cards as far as I know! 2 ½ starz

I stopped here on a random Saturday night, alone, and had a pretty fun time. The crowd was very diverse, which I liked, and the drinks were strong. At one point, I got charged $ 5 for just a seltzer, which is kind of bogus, since vodka and seltzer would have been $ 7 or $ 8?! It was seltzer!!! The dancers here are very awesome and talented, especially that muscley one with the marine haircut, tattoos and wrestler moves. Meow! Give that boy your $$.This place would be fun solo, with a group of friends, or on a date. Music is pretty good, everyone is working hard for you to have a good time, I danced with a few beautiful strangers, and it was entertaining, even for a solo straight gal wandering in to bask in that gay glow.

I had not been here for years and it seems this place has fallen off the map a little when it comes to a night out, I suppose to be expected with ‘trendy’ new bars opening uptown in neighboring Hell’s Kitchen. We went to a quiet drink pre-dinner on a Saturday night. I immediately noticed that they have daubed the walls and ceiling with some weird hand painted pattern décor that looks like a junior school art experiment. We were around for Happy Hour which is two-for-one, good value yes for the two drinks, however the drinks themselves were nothing to write home about and I’d have been upset at paying full price. I remember coming here in the past and the place would have been much busier, but just a few people propping up the bar on this occasion. This actually suited us fine as it was a ‘date night’ and we wanted somewhere quiet to come and chat but, like others in the area I just couldn’t help but think that this bar’s best days are now far behind it.

Well this used to be(for over 10 years) the«nice» gay bar to take people. You know those out of town guests who want to experience NYC? The interior was decorative and modern, the music was fine and so were the drinks. The staff was really sweet for a time… Once a year there would be the fantastic Luau for Pride. All around it was a good go-to for pretty much everyone. Now. what have they done with the place? They’ve attempted some oddball Keith Haring-esque design that looks more like intestines or a coloring book maze. It’s hideous. Who paints a bar white? And then to add injury to insult goes around and sharpies everything like a bored 4th grader? The drinks are crumby and don’t think about trying to send one back. You get what you get from Thor or whatever roided out ab man you get. «I can’t do that here» — Thor, «Do what? Make a simple drink?». Guess not. While it may look like Tito’s they are pouring into your cup, don’t be so certain. Like Splash, the old XL this will soon fade away. It’s sad these were the«nice» bars. At least Hellsea is proving to have some really great alternatives. I don’t wish ill on any of these places but something has seriously gone wrong down there. Industry is a great alternative.

It was so fun! Even though the drinks were a bit steep compared to what I am used to. Even though it is geared towards men women are still allowed to come in and party. Lots of sexy men both gay and bisexual, sexy bartenders and dancers. I’ve been there four times and have never seen any real drama. Sometimes drag queens come through. Good dance music On the weekends the crowd is there between midnight and 2am. There’s is no cover charge to get in just show security your id of course.

I love the frozen Cosmo that this place makes. I believe its a blackberry or raspberry flavored frozen drink. It’s looks lovely and tastes like eating a pink sherbet with a little kick. Me like! What attracts me to this particular bar is it’s location and atmosphere. Pros: –This place can get packed, but its an attractive space to relax with friends before the crowds build up. –The bartenders are attentive and friendly. Yes, I might even say attractive. The drinks are expensive and its not a pro, but they do give you a freebie card to get a second round on the house. I think a good way to promote more business. –Its a clean establishment. –It draws a good mix of people from all over. Cons: –Expensive drinks and they are not always great, so you have to be attentive on letting them know this fact.

Hello, G Lounge? Yeah, the 90’s called and they want their music back. I kid, I kid. I loved hearing TLC, Blackstreet, Blu Cantrell(okay, she was from the 2000’s) and others as I sipped my incredibly strong bourbon and coke. So the music and drinks were good. The bar does look appropriately lounge-y up front and also in the back. The weird round bar makes circulation a little tight. The crowd here is like a Benetton ad. Very diverse. Even with that diversity, I didn’t feel like I fit in. I probably hadn’t been to that place since 2005 but you know what, it’s not awful.

I’ve been in NYC for three months now, and I’ve been to gay bars more often than any other bars.(I’m a straight woman with somehow lots of gay male friends.) Usually I end up at Industry or Therapy, but last Friday after work I ended up at G Lounge. The friend I was with wanted to meet some of his friends there. I had a good time chatting with our group. The crowd seemed older(like, over 40s/50s older). Music was good, and people who weren’t on the prowl seemed to be having a good time. The drinks were delicious(I was having a frozen apple martini. YUM.) However, once I was the only one left, the bartender suddenly got nasty toward me. Didn’t feel very welcome anymore(I get it, it’s a male gay bar and I’m a woman. Sorry.) Won’t be going back here.
