A mirage in the Javits desert! Must go, great food, drinks and service. Clean, fresh, good lighting… not pretentious.

What a delightful restaurant! My girlfriends and I recently had a «girl’s night dinner» here, and it was really nice. First of all, it’s easy to get to now, thanks to the new 7 line subway stop(hooray)! We went on a cold, January evening, and the restaurant was super cozy and lovely. The service was great, the atmosphere was very relaxed — ultimately everything that you would want a «comfort food» restaurant to be. And when I say«comfort food», I mean like seriously. Maybe even comfort food on steroids. First of all, the cocktails appear to be seasonal, which is great. I had a vanilla old fashioned, and it has ignited in me a new-found love of bourbon. My friends had something fig-relevant and something that tasted like pumpkin pie, both good. For dinner, chicken and waffles!?! Yes. I did it, I went big, I didn’t go home. It was worth it, and I don’t even love fried chicken. I also tried, via my friends, the spaghetti squash, goat cheese and mushroom concoction and the chicken pot pie, also both really good. We split sides of macaroni and cheese, sweet potato fries and brussel sprouts. The sides alone would’ve made a phenomenal meal. It wasn’t inexpensive, but it wasn’t outrageous either, and the food is difficult to make at home so you don’t feel terrible paying more for it. I very much enjoyed it, in every possible way.

My friend and I both got the Brick Pressed Chicken upon recommendation from our waitress. She also warned us that it’ll take a bit longer for it to arrival because it has a longer cooking time, which was fine. She was super friendly! The dish was delicious! The reason why it wasn’t four stars is because the sauce and mashed potatoes are lukewarm, borderline room temperature, whereas the chicken was piping hot. If the kitchen timed it better and everything was hot, I would’ve given them 5 stars. I would definitely come again!

I’ll totally come back here. There was a bit of a wait, but the host kept checking on us. As soon as you walk in, it smells like butter. Lol very inviting. The hosts and all servers we’re very friendly as well. And it was a very comfy space. Even the back waiters were friendly. I went there for a friend’s bday. She loved it! To start she ordered the biscuits and jam, and her face lit up. It was served warm with a mixed berry compote and compound butter. I got a mimosa and she ordered a blood orange Bellini, also delish. But I wish that they served a full glass, it’s $ 12 each for half glass? We both ordered their chicken and cheddar waffles… So darn good! I’ll be returning.

Chicken and waffles! Definitely get that here if you’ve never had it! I was here for brunch and ordered the chicken and waffles. It did not disappoint and was as good as everyone else said in their reviews. The portion’s pretty big and filling. I’d recommend this place if you’re around. It’s quite popular so seats might take longer to get. Try to come at a time when it’s not during peak hours or you’ll probably have to wait to get seats.

I’ve ordered take out twice. First time I had the Salmon over salad… Grilled Salmon Salad — 17 atlantic salmon, romaine, gigantes beans, kalamata olives, feta, red onion, cucumber, carrots, creamy dill dressing The salad seems simple, but was hands down amazing. I think one of the best salads I’ve ever had and I’m a huge salad person. The dressing was very nice. Second time I popped in for some tomato soup. It was really delicious, but not too heavy handed with the cream. Tasted fresh and light. The service was super nice. The décor is too cute! I can’t wait to come back to dine here. I work close by now so I will be frequenting this place often! :)

I’ve been to the Friedman’s on 31st street and the one uptown by Columbia U. This one was consistent with the other two… Love the fried chicken sandwich! make sure you get there before Noon, if you want to get a table for lunch. Both midtown locations get jammed for lunch

Absolutely wonderful spot on 10th ave in New York. Even better, it’s a bit off the major touristy spots so you can get there with less hustle and bustle. But, beyond the more comfortable commute and beautiful rustic interior, the place was all around cozy and the food was delicious! Started off with a delicious cocktail and had a great brunch here during my last day in New York. I opted for the chilaquiles. I’ve had quite a few chilaquiles in my lifetime, and this was probably in the top 3 I’ve ever had. Chilaquiles is often hit or miss at every restaurant I go to. Sometimes the tortilla gets too soggy or the eggs aren’t done right. This time around, they did it extremely well and also gave a very generous portion size along with it. We also had the special of the day– the crab benedict. While I loved my chilaquiles, I have to say that this dish stole the show. The crab was soft and well flavored and the eggs complimented it perfectly. I’ll try to come back here during my next visit to ny.

Huge fan of Friedman’s! It’s the perfect restaurant for a family of celiacs, or a group of health-conscious foodies! First of all, the service was really great– friendly, attentive, and accommodating to dietary needs. The ambience is also quiet nice in this location. I haven’t been to the other ones, but my family and I found ourselves at this location just blocks from Madison Square Garden(convenient for an early New Years Eve dinner before Phish at MSG!) I’ve had Celiac Disease for 4 years now, so the chicken and waffles were an excellent treat. Delicious! Their assortment of gluten free beers was abundant as well. Some of my other favorites on the menu are the spinach-artichoke dip, tandoori wings, fish tacos, quinoa bowls, and the burgers are fabulous as well.

Food was flavorful, came quick, and was affordable. All the things you need for a breakfast spot. My only knock is the limited menu. A few more breakfast items would push this over the 4-star hump to 5-star. The limited menu essentially means that you have to go wanting a very specific item cause there is not a lot of variety.

The chicken and waffles were good. The chicken batter was more on the darker side and was crispy. The waffle was excellent. The hot pepper honey was great! We had ordered a side of bacon but in hind sight wasn’t necessary. Bloody Mary was pretty good, just a standard Bloody Mary. The celery that came with it was a ever so slightly stale? Or didn’t have that freshness to it like I would expect. Would be cool if they had like a bacon Bloody Mary or some variations. Ambiance and service was comfortable and pleasant. There’s a slight wait as the place is becoming more well known.

Super cute inside. Grilled cheese was awesome! overpriced for this area though. $ 17 /$ 20 with tip for grilled cheese and a tiny coup of soup? This isn’t soho its Hell’s Kitchen. If you live around here it’s a good option but wouldn’t travel out of my way to come. Good service.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Unilocal never fails to help navigate foreign culinary territory. Gone are the days of a bad meal due to «not being in the know.» Freidmans nailed the quick breakfast that we were looking for before work. I’ve been to the one in Chelsea market, but I didn’t know that they had another location; and it just happened to be around the block from the Javits Center where we had to go! We both crushes a chicken sausage avocado breakfast burrito with tomatillo salsa and some local NYC hot sauce. A couple of coffees later and we were ready to meet the day with a full ahead of steam! I’m not Gluten free, but my mom is and she loves this place. The have many GF options and are well aware of cross contamination and good preparation habits. I’m pretty sure they do breakfast lunch and dinner at both locations, but you’ll have to fact check me on that.

This review is for their breakfast during the week. I was looking forward to grabbing brunch at Friedman’s because their brunch menu looked good(chicken & waffles!!), but to my disappointment… they only serve brunch on weekends womp womp. Their regular breakfast menu was so plain and boring… ended up ordering their pancake special which was apple cinnamon pancakes(doesn’t sound so bad). I was expecting flavored pancakes … but it was just three slices of cinnamon apples topped onto the pancakes. Nothing special about it, really basic. The service also sucked… we forgot we even had a waitress assigned to us. On the bright side, we did get a complimentary bottle of still water… but still wouldn’t come here again.

Awesome little gem. After being rained upon as we were walking here from comic con, we waited dripping in the entryway and had a couple of drinks while a table cleared up. Although there were a lot of people just using the place as a way to get out of the rain, the servers and staff were very kind and understanding. My friend had the fried chicken which looked and smelled excellent, and which he devoured. My other friend had the swordfish which was perfectly prepared and served on a bed of purple cauliflower and spinach. My 3rd friend had the steak of the day(think it was a ribeye but I’m not sure), and it was F-ing PERFECT. My god. I had the brick pressed chicken, which was served with mashed potatoes and crispy fried Brussels sprouts. It was made with care and talent Nice atmosphere too, with exposed wood giving it a hip/rustic ambience. Highly recommended.

You have to eat her! Your tastebuds deserve that much. The service isn’t the best but it’s due to the amount of people that go here. There’s a constant flow of people and you can’t blame it because of the food. Overall some of the best brunch I’ve had!

Cute little place! We went to Friedman’s because it was really close to the Javits Center. After a long day of walking around the New York ComicCon, we did not want to walk too far. It was packed when we got there on a Saturday night, but our wait was about 20 minutes. The food here was excellent! Everybody seemed to be getting the burgers, but I wanted to spoil myself and went with the Steak of the Day– Ribeye with Asian veggies($ 32). It was a huge plate! The ribeye was cooked to perfection and nicely flavored. My brother ordered their scallop entrée, which was really good too. Came over corn and crème sauce. This was a small portion so you’d probably want to order something else too. Our friend ordered the Fried Chicken and Cheddar Waffles, which you can’t go wrong with. Delicious! Huge portion too! *Complimentary sparking water! Service was great. Our server was attentive. It’s a small place. Not great for big parties. I’d definitely bookmark this place and visit again the next time I go to ComicCon!

We were staying close to Times Square so I used my trusty Unilocal!app to find a place for breakfast. Yet again Unilocal!culinary gold with Friedman’s. The rustic interior here is pretty spacious by NY standards as there are several full sized booths to accompany the table tops inside. I would say this is a pretty kid friendly establishment as we had 2 kids with us no problem. We were lucky enough to come here while the Brunch menu was in effect and I have to say I was impressed. I was having a hard time trying to decide what to eat when I heard the special — Duck hash on sweet potatoes. WOW this dish was amazing! There is a pretty large portion of tender duck cooked with the sweet potatoes and topped with 2 large poached eggs. Although I was pretty full I couldn’t stop eating! They also had a nice selection of Brunch cocktails which is always appreciated. Service was also extremely friendly and prompt. I will definitely check them out again next time I am in the area.

This was in close proximity to our hotel. It was the perfect breakfast place. Not very big, but super charming. Arrived around 9 on a Sunday. Had excellent service from Alex. Ordered the Nova Benny, basically eggs benedict with salmon. Also ordered the Chilaquiles, shredded chicken with eggs, fried tortillas, tomatillo sauce, and avocado. Excellent, huge portion, couldn’t finish it. Would love to do dinner here, if we are back in this area.
