Today I had a shocking and terrible experience at Footlights. The man sold me shoes telling me the wrong information about them and then called me a liar in the store. Last week I bought a pair of SAS shoes, known for their comfort and support. I specifically told the man I needed back support and that my occupation keeps me on my feet over 8 hours a day. He suggested and ultimately sold me a shoe that he claimed was made for long hours on the feet. When I tried them out at my studio I noticed they were sliding off my heels at times, even though they were my normal size. I called the SAS company and they said the shoes may stretch so I should get a smaller size. They also told me the style the man suggested was NOT meant for work or being on your feet all day, but to wear them inside for a few hours to test. I tried them in my studio(inside only) and sure enough my feet and back hurt after a couple hours. When I tried to exchange the shoes for a different style the man at Footlights refused and said there were scuffs on the bottom, even though I had only worn them inside. I tried to explain I really had only worn them inside and that it was within 7 days of my purchase, and then he called me a liar. It was very upsetting and completely unprofessional. And I’m ending up with a pair of shoes for $ 160 that don’t serve my needs and that are too big for me.

I bought a pair of white low Superga’s and was very thankful that the man who helped me stretched out the sides for my bunion. He was patient and did it a couple times. «This is why shoe stores exist»

I used to shop here from time to time because it was near my job. Service was never great — they weren’t very helpful — but it was tolerable. Today, however, they were very high-pressure and kept trying to get me to try on shoes in the same unattractive style I had already said«no» to repeatedly. When I didn’t buy any of these shoes(which were nothing like what I was looking for) they were shockingly rude. Before I left. I complained to the woman at the desk about the rudeness — and she laughed! Don’t waste your time or money here unless you like being pressured to buy something you don’t want and then insulted.

Very wide selection of «comfort shoes» including ones that look stylish. Only drawback is they only carry medium widths and don’t have wide versions in stock. But still has one of the most diverse selections compared to other NYC comfort shoe stores.

I bought four pairs of shoes in the afternoon and they said no problem, I could try them on at home since I was in a hurry and bring the others back. I came back within one hour to return one of the four pairs and they said store credit only? What??? I then tried to use the store credit a month later and they said it was expired! These are horrible people.
