My grandmother always said (& she was always right) when it comes to food especially meat, buy the best! That is Fischer Brothers. THE BEST. The service, the OU Glatt certification not to mention the humor of the staff and owners only add to the experience, and the prepared food, almost as good as my grandmother’s,(everyone needs something to strive for), after all, who doesn’t have a «lazy» I don’t want to cook day/​Shabbat. For more than 60 years, they have been getting it right, here’s to another 60.

One of the best Jewish memories of my childhood was coming here with my father on a Friday afternoon in the summer to buy some meat. The store was ablaze and aglow with the excitement of Shabbat, and even as a child, it was patently obvious to me that this was an old-​fashioned store where they took deep pride in their products and in the way they treat customers.
Years later, I firmly believe that this is the best kosher butcher in New York, in terms of quality, service, and refinement. The rib eye steaks were tender, flavorful, and delicious 14 years ago, and they are still absolutely superb. The tournedoes are the finest cut of beef I ever tried in my entire life; when served with a mushroom red wine sauce, you’d think you’ve died and gone to gan eden.
Yes, you will pay through the nose, but the quality is well worth it.

I’m kind of shocked that there is only one other review of this place. This is by the far the best butcher (Kosher or otherwise) in town. I have tried to buy kosher meat other places and it’s always regrettable. There are some places in the city on the west side to buy «serviceable» meats (a few big name kosher supermarkets come to mind) but the raw and prepared meats at Fischer Bros are outstanding. Consistently excellent.
Please order the mushroom barley (to die for), the prepared roasted chickens (I have them cut it in 1/​8s for me), the matzoh balls and chicken noodle soup and yes the Fischer Bros frozen challah — I make challah by hand and I literally spent a year of Friday’s perfecting my recipe — their’s is the only challah that rivals mine. It is so so choice.
Admittedly, it can be pricey. You can get a better deal on the roasted chickens at The Kosher Marketplace, but I’ll be honest here — the ones at Fischer Bros taste better.
This place is a real kiddush hashem!
