Having tried numerous steakhouses in NYC, I was drawn to Quality Meats on the basis of their attempt to offer a modern interpretation of the classical steakhouse menu — now, that’s something you don’t see very often. Let’s begin on where they succeeded. First off, the aged rib steak was true to the restaurant’s name, absolutely succulent throughout, and by far, one of the best that i’ve tasted. The three-way Filet was another one of my favorites, more so because of what it tries to bring in a single dish: steak au poivre, beef Wellington, and beef Oscar-style. Flavor-wise, I still prefer the aged steak. The rest of the dishes are the points of deviations where Quality Meats really brought a touch of modernness. The Foie Gras with Apricot was a surprise. The tart, sweet apricots actually complemented the Foie Gras really well, a fantastic combination. Next is the bone marrow. As a kid growing up, my mom would often save the bones from making soup and serve the ones with bone marrow. Here, they are roasted and quite buttery, but there is another dimension of representing what is nostalgic. Overall, a great experience! I would love to add them to my rotation of steak affairs.

This was a pleasant experience. We had their 64oz rib in steak for 2(medium rare), the creamed corn, corn brulee, Yorkshire spinach, a tomato salad, 3 different types of oysters(not all oysters are created equal is what I learned) and something with brussel sprouts. Everything was was tasty and the prices were what i expected for NYC. Their sergvice could have been better though. 1) When we ordered the Steak, I kind of figured we were in for a long wait, but I think our server should have told us we were in for an hour+ wait. 2) But given he didn’t say anything about how long cooking would take: He shouldn’t have disappeared for at least 35 minutes. As in at no point did he check on how we were doing or anything, which was certainly unfortunate. All in all, if I were the kind of person who went to steakhouse frequently, I certainly would be back.

Good quality meat … Like the name says I guess! Only problem was that I was surrounded by suits which kinda kills the vibe. Servings were pretty big! I didn’t actually finish my steak

To be honest, the second you were present with a huge plate of classic steak(dry-aged ribeye, NY stripe, fillet, whatever), I guess you(or at least me) suddenly care less about the ambience around. That’s how I define a real«carnivore». Haven’t really been to many of the top steakhouses, I’m just opening myself to all the great tastes and hoping for something to give me a wow moment. Quality meat certainly did that. Ranking from my most to least favorite: dry-aged ribeye, sugary bacon, corn crème brûlée, Brussel sprout, chocolate cake with spiced cherries, tri-fillet. If your group has got enough people, definitely go for their porterhouse steak(with better quality however giant in size). Do not be tricked by their 2-people sign, it is definitely prepared for a larger group! After all, the major reason I was here was to celebrate my end of «vegetarian» journey. I definitely was more than happy to be surrounded by the mouth-watering dishes; and so glad that I eventually discovered something equally impressive with my all-time favorite place Peter Luger. Classic.

This review is for drinks at the bar only! We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a quick drink and struggled internally on whether or not to order food. We went with drinks, and both of them were super tasty. He got a tequila drink with jalapeño ice cubes(!) and I got a raspberry vodka drink that was served with fresh raspberries. Great cocktails, great vibe. Wish we could’ve stayed for dinner!

Quality Meats might be my new favorite«treat yo’self» restaurant to go to in Manhattan. The food — fantastic. I don’t know where to start. Everything was perfect, from the bread they bring out to start, to the tomato soup with little mac & cheese bites that they were kind enough to split into two bowls so we could both enjoy, to our main dishes — I had the lobster special(so delicious), he had the filet, medium rare(I can’t speak for him but I enjoyed it and could barely finish it), to our sides of creamed spinach and fried potatoes. I have had creamier creamed spinach but this was still delicious. Ambience — beautiful, intimate, elegant. Service — the servers are VERY attentive. We couldn’t figure out which one was our waitress because I feel like at least 3 different people rotated through our table every 5 – 10 minutes. It was a little much at times, and I couldn’t quite figure out if they wanted to make sure we were happy or that we would leave so the next table could be seated. Either way, we still enjoyed everything about our experience here and I highly recommend it for a special occasion or if you simply want a great meal.

A year later I visit again to see if anything has changed. This time around everything was much better. The food was delicious and the service was on point. They do have mashed potatoes, but you need to request it. Steaks were perfectly cooked and sides delicious. They have a nice selection of ice creams which were tasty. One thing I noticed was that service was starting to slip as soon as it got busy, the same occurred the first time I went. Perhaps opt for an earlier dinner to get the best experience.

Game Changer. Total game changer. Now I know, I don’t «hate» corn … as long as it’s Quality Meat Crème Brulee Corn! Came here with a rsvp at 6 with the BF before our Sleep No More play(yes, you should watch this interactive play as well!) and we were seated immediately. Our waiter arrived with incredible customer service. We started off with the Hamachi sashimi appetizers, and I had to rationalize my portions as it was my first meal of the day. I ordered the rib eye«medium rare but not too rare» and the server politely asks«Is Medium okay? — while trying to hold a firm face. And I just started laughing. *Hangry moment /Blonde Moment* The food came out in a timely manner and we were constantly being checked up on. I would definitely come back !

Brought the BF’s father from out of state, here for the second time the other day. We had a 5:30 reservation, but got there a ½ hour early. They sat us right away. Our order was taken promptly, our food came quickly, and our waiter was very attentive and friendly. Between the three of us, we ordered the rib steak for one, 2 brandied cherry hanger steaks, and sides of asparagus, corn crème brûlée, and crispy potatoes. This restaurant is one of my all time favorites for a reason. The quality of food is consistent, is an excellent standard, and it’s just freaking delicious. The food is worth every cent. Have been going here for years, and will continue to.

I had an awesome dining experience here, mostly because of the food though. The venue is set up nicely on the first floor but can get pretty crowded on the second level. Unfortunately I made a last minute reservation so was stuck on a small table on the second floor. The food and service really drive my 4 stars rating for this place. I recommend starting off with a light appetizer(oysters for example) because you also get complementary salted garlic bread. The best move would be to jump right into a steak entrée without getting distracted by the other appetizers because the steak portions are huge. I had the special bone-in filet which came with a side of bone marrow. The meat was cooked exactly as I asked for so I was happy. For my sides I got the corn crème brûlée and the waffle parmesan fries. I only got the fries because of all the Unilocal reviews I came across — honestly best decision ever.

I wanted to bring my wife and youngest son to a NYC steakhouse but not the typical, old skool steakhouse. I wanted it to be more modern with the food to reflect a modern take. Enter Quality Meats. I’ve been a fan since I took them to Quality Italian and we had the gynormous chicken cutlet pizza. That was off the charts and I knew I had to try their take on a Porterhouse for two. Our reservation was at 5pm when they first opened. We were greeted at the door and seated in a dark looking dining room. Cool music is playing and the candles are lit. I knew the steak was going to take at least 45 minutes to prep being the first guests in the restaurant. We ordered two pear sangrias and fresh burretta to start. The pear sangrias were a fun and warm starter. Then the burretta comes out and changes everything. There is nothing like a fresh bright burretta. Do you like soft mozzarella? This is its cousin. Fresh, warm and oozzing cheese is best to describe this starter. Bacon with Jalapeños and peanut butter — My son wanted to try it, its something I knew my wife would make a face. I ordered it, It’s sounds kookie but then boom went the dynamite. This dish was packed with flavor. The steaks come out together, a porterhouse for two and a rib eye. Then the sides come out. The sides are supposed to be like Thanksgiving, its all about the sides. I’m not sure if I was jumping up and down for all three of them: Waffle fries — My son didn’t want to get too adventurous with us. Not a culanary stretch. Creamed spinach — The spinach was served in a puff pastry and the spinach itself seemed too purée. Nice taste but on the fence. Potato hash — This is the staple for all steakhouses. Our potatoes come out and they were sliced, deep fried pieces. They were ok, I’ve had better at other steakhouses. The Rib Eye — Dead on balls accurate. The steak was so rich and flavorful, it was cooked to perfection. A large piece of meat, it should of been in a frame at the front door so customers can oogle as they walk by. Its what dreams are made from. The Porterhouse for two — The steak is actually two cuts so it makes sense order this steak cut and experience both sides. Cooked perfectly, another version of a steakhouse steak but in the Quality Italian fashion. We’re finished with dinner but from what I remember from Quality Italian are the gelato flavors. We ordered two to be split by the three of us: Marshmallow and Cookie Monster! Exactly how they sound, the Marshmallow had a nice topping and the cookies reminded me of Chips-ahoy but still satisfied your sweet tooth. If you’re craving a great steak and don’t want the typical stodgy NYC steakhouses, Quality Meats should be at the top of your list.

Great vibe, great food, great wine, great service. The best thing was, my boss was paying the bill. One rule about the restaurant is that the majority of a party of guests have to be present in order to get a table. So we started at the bar waiting for our party of 8 to show up. They have a full bar on the ground floor, it was packed by 6pm on a weekday. We were seated on the third floor with a round table. A lot of restaurant don’t get how important it is to have round tables for big parties so that every one can interact with everyone else. Our server was absolutely amazing. She gave great advice, very efficient, and lovely. We started with a complimentary chasse and cracker with apple jam. Very refreshing. Their bread was amazing, served in an iron skillet, which kept the bread soft and hot. The butter just melt on top. I couldn’t stop but had two pieces of bread. I ordered the Hamachi sashimi for appetizer, veal chop, and brown butter pecan pie for dessert. The sashimi was ok, I shouldn’t have ordered sashimi at a steakhouse, the lemon or lime over powered the taste of the fish, but the avocado paste, watermelon radish and cilantro on the side was good. One of my coworkers ordered the grilled bacon with peanut butter, at first I thought that was weird. But wait til you try it, its additive. Imagine the thick caramelized bacon slices For entrée, our server made us house made steak sauce. It was fresh, sweet, and amazing. I tried my coworker’s medium rare aged rib steak, compared to my veal chop, my veal chop was just ok. The aged bone-in ribs steak was dense, juicy, melt right in your mouth. I also tired the aged bone-in sirloin, thick and juicy. But the aged rib steak was by far the best. Not to mention the icon rib bone that was longer than my forearm. Highly recommend. We ordered the waffle fries, crispy potatoes, grilled asparagus, and corn crème brulee. We were told they were shared sides, but they’re not that big. Shared by 2 people maybe. The waffle fries is like a small waffle fries from chick-fil A, maybe slighter bigger. The corn crème brulee was amazing. First time I had a salty crème brulee, creamy, smooth, salty and sweet at the same time. I am normally not a dessert person, but I gave in. They made everything themselves and homemade ice ream is my weakness. I ordered the brown butter pecan pie I was blown away. The presentation by itself was amazing, at first I thought it was going to be ice cream on top of a pecan pie, but instead, the ice cream was the focus, the pecan pie was just a decoration on top. I also tried the cookie monster,(2 chocolate chip cookies sandwiching a huge scope of chocolate ice cream), and monkey bread. The pecan pie was the best. For drinks, they have a extensive list of alcohol and wine. We had a 2013 pinot noir, light, smooth, great pairing with steak. Overall, amazing experience. Top notch restaurant. Highly recommend!

Omffffffg. First time in NYC and we were staying at 1Hotel for 2 nights, conveniently located across the street from QM. Night 1: made a reservation on opentable and got in immediately at around 6pm. Chef sent out some cheese cubes w/apricot compote and a cracker on top. Nice touch. Hot garlic buns come straight from the oven. The best. Crab and avocado appetizer. Incredible. Lobster special. Delicious, nice portion. Filet special. Christ. Gnocchi. Omfg Asparagus. Not worth stomach space when other foods are on the table. Monkey bread. I had no room but hubby loved it. Service 5stars ambiance 5stars food 5stars Night 2: couldn’t stay away; another last minute reservation gets in right away. Cheese cubes. Tysm. Hot buns. Yes. Bacon + Peanut Butter w/Jalapeño. not my style but still good 24 oz ribeye. Delish. Enough for two. Gnocchi. 10 stars Night 1 was definitely better than night 2… always go with the specials! If I am ever back in NYC there is no way I’d miss hitting up this place again.

Being a meathead in the true sense, I’ve wanted to try this steakhouse for some time. Before dinner, I thought to myself — was this place going to satisfy me the same way that Peter Luger or Wolfgang’s does? Or would it be more of a STK/BLT-type of experience? Or was it going to be like Keene’s, Old Homestead or Frankie & Johnnies? Ultimately the experience reminded me of BLT more than Luger’s. The ambiance is definitively modern with dark settings that didn’t distinguish itself much from many other fancy joints in town. What definitely stood out for me was(as the name suggests) the excellent quality of their meat offerings. The dinner kicked off with a sparse house appetizer of cheese bites with a dab of apple jam and a fragment of what looked like a Ritz cracker. The flavor of the cheese was solid but it was definitely far from memorable. Since I was relatively famished(possibly due to the somewhat long wait even though we made reservations) I opted for a clam chowder appetizer. The soup featured no shortage of clams and the broth was less rich than what I expected, which isn’t a bad thing for me. The flavor itself was not robust but given how hungry I was, it was easy to overlook. When it was time for the main event, I was relatively glad that the meats — from a quality standpoint — did not disappoint. Two of us opted to share a porterhouse, while another checked out the ribeye. Between the two options, the latter was definitely the highlight of the evening. The flavor of the ribeye was absolutely delicious and the cut was pretty much perfect. The texture was just right. As for the porterhouse, it was a bit of a disappointment. The meat itself was top notch. Both the filet and sirloin portions of the steak were solid in terms of quality, but I would recommend the ribeye over the porterhouse simply due to the relative lack of flavor if you compare the two cuts side by side. We ordered a few bottles of pinot noir and malbec, which paired well with the steaks. The service was decent, though there were long gaps when our waiter wasn’t seen. Our entrees also took a long time to reach our table and the small serving of bread wasn’t enough to keep us going until the big feast. Generally speaking I would still recommend this place for the top notch quality of the meat. But personally I still enjoy the old school stalwarts, or even places like Del Frisco’s if I’m looking for a good cut of meat with plenty of flavor.

Name really says it. Quality Meat. I’ll admit I was skeptical, especially with a location that could potentially attract a large tourist population. I had to give it a try though as I started noticing how many other restaurants I was going to that labeled their steaks and ground meats as coming from Quality Meats’ butcher. Everything here is really superb. The space has this really cool industrial theme going on that creates a more contemporary atmosphere for a steakhouse than you might be used to. The staff are very friendly and willing to lend their expertise on the menu. The food is astoundingly good, which came as sort of a surprise given the size of the restaurant. Sometimes with larger steakhouses it can get really hard to control for quality across dishes — with many places trying to just turn out their meat as if they were in the business of mass production. Here though, I felt as though every dish was given the personal touch it deserved, but somehow I still felt as though I were dining in a contemporary restaurant. Steak was cooked perfectly and seasoned to perfection. Sides delicious, deserts… delectable.

A classy midtown steak restaurant. I liked the modern take on mounted animal heads. Instead of the real thing they have incorporated a white wash colored bull by the front door(to match the birch colored bramble that is on the ceiling of the bar area). Its a very warm color scheme. And very very dim. My favorite area of the restaurant was the little seating area near the restrooms downstairs. Like a mini lounge for no good reason, complete with an animal head to keep you company. Their on the house appetizer«cheddar and jam with a Ritz cracker» is the saddest thing you’ll eat here. I was not expecting much after that. The dessert is also lackluster. Forget this though, you’re here for the MEAT. The grilled bacon with jalapeño bits and peanut butter is an interesting concoction. I just wished it was spicier. Didn’t seem those green bits were REALLY jalapenos. I was temporarily surprised by the combination of these ingredients and then sad that I wasn’t experiencing jalapeño spice. The little pan of pull-apart bread is wonderful. Salt rubs off the top and it is fresh out of the oven. Definitely get the rib eye. Its the most tender of the three classic cuts(sirloin, filet, rib eye). Our server recommended a porterhouse and a rib eye for the three of us and it was just the right amount of meat. The rib eye is tender, juicy, and not overpowering in the sense of «cow» flavor. The porterhouse was a bit more of a «grrr I’m eating meat» experience. I like that they cut it up for you(thanks MOM!). A side of not so healthy for you brussel sprouts topped off the main course. Overall getting anything in here that is not meat or related to your meat consumption(vino?) is not going to be as «quality» as the meat.

World-class, as always. There isn’t much to say, except that Quality Meats really sets the standard for top-of-the-line steakhouses in New York. Many steakhouses in New York have a very niche crowd, but Quality Meats does a good job of creating an atmosphere that’s suitable both for a business dinner or dinner with friends or a date. The vibe is classy and modern, but still with somewhat of a casual and homey feel, if that makes sense. One thing that I believe is that the quality of dry-aged beef in New York in general is pretty good. Across most high-end steakhouses(obviously there are exceptions), you’re likely going to get a pretty good piece of meat, so what really separates you is the quality of the appetizers and side dishes. Quality Meats really knocks it out of the park with the non-steak dishes, so you can be assured that your entire meal will be great. Even the free monkey bread you get to start off your meal comes in a crispy outer crust and an incredibly fluffy inside, so yeah, you won’t be able to avoid those carbs. Their wine list is pretty extensive, as well as their spirits list, so don’t be afraid to order some whiskey with your enormous steak. Ron Swanson would have wanted it that way. My recommendations: — Bone-in dry-aged rib steak(for most flavor) — Dry-aged porterhouse(for sheer volume) — Quality Potato(think mashed potatoes and a loaded baked potato making a beautiful baby) — Bone Marrow(the epitome of excess and gluttony, but it’s so good) — Brussels sprouts(have to be healthy, right? These really aren’t that healthy, though) — One of the dressed-up ice cream scoops to finish the meal off, if you’re not stuffed already. For some reason, I found the staff at neighboring Quality Italian to be sort of impersonal, but for some reason, all the times I’ve been to Quality Meats, the staff has always been exceptionally kind and attentive. I don’t love how aloof the people at the front desk are at times, but thankfully, you won’t really have to interact with them that much. Prices are obviously expensive, so I obviously don’t come here that often, but there really aren’t many restaurants in Manhattan that are better for that special occasion, so you can’t really go wrong. Quality Meats really knocks it out of the park on all facets, from start to finish. Definitely one of my favorite steakhouses in the city, and if you make the visit, you’ll likely see why.

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday to try the bone marrow. It was our first time so we were not entirely sure how to eat it. The bone marrow came with bread and salt. We learned from the table next to us that you spread the m bone marrow on the bread and put a pinch of salt on it. I was reluctant to try it at first but it was actually really good. The texture was smooth almost like fat but the flavor was absolutely delicious. He ordered raw oysters that came with three sauces and he said they were really good but I don’t eat raw oysters so I’ll take his word for it! The chef also gave us a complimentary watermelon cubes with salt. It was surprisingly tasty. We got the porterhouse for two which was a little too charred on the outside for medium. The flavor was good, but what really made the steak good was the sauce they make in front of you. We also ordered brussel sprouts and asparagus as the sides. They were both way too salty but I ate them anyway. All in all I wouldn’t come back for steak but definitely for their bone marrow! The atmosphere was decent but the lighting is way too dark. We could not read our menus in the cramped corner that we were seated in.

I haven’t been to a steakhouse in a realllllly long time, and wow this was a great way to get back in the game(see what I did there? ;)). I first started off with oysters. If any of my friends are reading this, they will be utterly shocked. Flabbergasted, I must say. They know that I am not a fan of oysters. ATALL. However, my friend highly recommended me to try one, and wow. I am so glad that I listened. I believe I tried the Kumamoto… and either the Blue Island or Shigoku. They were amazing! They were small, but the size was just right. The oysters came with condiments on the side — you must try all of them. They compliment the oysters perfectly. Décor — it was very. New York-y…if that makes sense. Everything was neat and modern, but it had personality to it. This is a great place to bring your date to. Roasted Bone Marrow — amazing. My friend said it was the best he’s ever had. Aged Rib Steak — I was so full by the time the steak came out, but I still had to get a piece of it. The meat near the bone.wow. It just melts in your mouth. The meat was cooked to perfection. I took leftovers home. And, the bone it comes with.wow. So brolic! Corn Crème Brulee — It was sweet but not too sweet. SO Good Yorkshire Creamed Spinach — the chef gave this as a complimentary dish(great service), and I loved it. I also had some. cheese bite stuff… I have no idea what it was called. There was too much cheese, but overall, it tasted very good. Service — the waiters were very attentive. The service was very on point!!!

OK guys… this has been on my list to hit up for a while and I made it. Don’t be intimidated by those finance midtown peeps. I walked right in with a baby and enjoyed a delicious lunch and will come back for more Hypes: — Great rustic and dim ambiance. enough seating and space where its not too loud but cozy. — Bomb service — attentive, fast on the water and check, and yes, really friendly — Bread — oh that bread. damn. soft, warm, toasty, and just how i like it — Sliced Filet Mignon and Horseradish — Got this open faced lunch plate. Seriously awesome. Meat was cooked to perfection, atop toasted bread, greens, and it was flavored properly with the horseradish. With it came onion rings(I substituted parmesan waffle fries which were great), homemade ketchup(too sweet), and beans — Mediterranean salad — deliciuos. — You leave full, not stuffed, knowing you’ve had a satisfying meal and it was worth it. Gripes(really — not many): — As most places in midtown, not the most baby friendly place — but there was a small room on the side that could be used. Strollers aren’t allowed, but they provided us with a high chair and helped move the stroller into the coat check so they got points for this considering the restaurant i tried to go to originally kicked me out as stores werent allowed period(even folded up in the back) — Make a resi if you’re coming after 12 — gets packed for those midtown lunch meetings(my husband is a regular here — he knows) We plan to return on a mission to try more dishes and their dinner
