Despite being a bit hesitant about coming here again I caved to the fact that I knew the fika places had semlor — a swedish cardamom bun with marzipan and whipped cream. And we could have gone to any other fika(the one right by our hotel for example) but since our first pick didn’t accept strollers we went here. Much better than the first time! No music, no singing. The barista made a delicious latte. Unfortunately there were only two semlor left so my husband had one and my friend the other. I had a cinnamon bun which was good. The reason I only give three stars is because I still feel it lacks the concept of fika. A fika to me means sitting down and just relaxing for a while which is nearly impossible in this place given that there are very few seats. So my suggestion, try another fika place. the on on E34 and Lexington(i think) is big. saw a couple of more on 5th heading down towards downtown manhattan. But if you’re just getting a coffee and something sweet on the go, this will suit you well.

Fika, you always pick me up when I am at my lowest. When I’ve worked a 12 hour day and starved the entire time because time escaped me your meatball plate is my savior. When I need to wake up from one too many drinks the night before your flat white/cappuccino gives me a jump start! When I hit the midday slump and I need a truffle or two to bring me back to life, those things are so addictive. I am so glad you are right across the street from where I work. Stay there forever! They have the most amazing ham and cheese croissant. I can have it every single day! Get there before 11am, as theses tend to sell out quickly.

Coffee was not stellar and service seemed distracted and unexceptional.

Their staff is rude. They made unprofessional assumptions based on appearances and it was offensive. If you WANT to be offended, then I would recommend this establishment.

Minimalist décor and friendly staff. Small space; good to grab a coffee to go. Solid cappuccino and great cardamom buns!

I first came across FIKA about two summers ago, and now, it’s become my favorite coffee shop. It’s a small place, just noticeable if you’re actively studying your surroundings, but trust me, it’s a treasure inside. The atmosphere is very visually pleasing, and due to the size, you may not find an available seat, but no worries, for Central Park is only a walk away on comfortable days. Their coffee is some of the best I’ve ever tasted, and the sweets are perfection; their addictive chocolate-covered nuts and princess cake have become favorites of mine. Furthermore, the staff is pretty friendly, which is a bonus. I admit the prices may ward away some, but I believe the quality of FIKA’s goods go beyond the price.

This awesome coffee-chocolate shop just opened about a month ago and it’s great. I’ve only been once so far and I plan on going again very soon. Fika is a Swedish bakery located on 79th and Broadway. They sell baked goods as well as drinks and lots of chocolate! One of the things that excited me the most was their jams. From raspberry to lingonberry to citrus and whiskey, I was intrigued. And to settle my love for peanut butter, I was surprised to discover they also sold their very own as well as hazelnut spread, cinnamon peanut and spicy raisin spreads. Definitely check this place out because it’s worth it!

The second walking in, it gives you this modern European vibe. The hot chocolate was incredible! And there is a wide variety of treats to indulge in. Will definitely come again!

The oatmeal cookie was a strange texture, but still good? I can’t even describe that in detail. Please don’t label me as «useless,» my Unilocal companions! I guess if you’re looking for a standard oatmeal cookie, you may be a bit disappointed… but it’s still tasty. The staff was pretty reserved. If I’m the only one in the café, I like to strike up a conversation with the baristas because I know no other customers will bother. But, maybe a sunny disposition is sometimes seen as «crazy» in these situations. Clean and classy, but it’s a small little coffee stop, so not a good workspace. Overall, it was an okay experience. Didn’t wow me at all. Not a notable stop on the Java Journey 2015.

Wow, a few years ago when we serendipitously stumbled from our hotel room and into this coffee shop, FIKA was nowhere close to 17 stores. Yet, they still seem to maintain the quality of their coffee. Good for them! They make the term ‘business expansion’ less ominous. I had a fantastic cappuccino here, quite possibly the best I’ve ever had. It had that perfect balance between espresso and milk, between awesome caffeine acidity and milky sweetness(I never add sugar) and the perfect texture: not too much foam, not too little, all the while providing that much needed caffeinated morning jolt. If you count the artistic touch inscribed with a steady hand in the foam — truly a memorable experience(no «to go» cups for me though). It’s usually super crowded, especially in the morning. Their ‘kaffi’ makes me want to fly to Sweden right fikking meow.

I’ve visited this lovely business a handful of times over the past few years, including the times before their remodel. They have remained consistently excellent throughout the years. The shop itself is GREATLY improved with the remodel, which gives it a much better flow, and more space in front of the counter. The new display place is also lovely! Quite inviting to the eye. Clean. Well-lit. Very alluring. The entrees are the better lunch bang for the buck, IMO. The sandwiches, while generously portioned and delicious, are a bit steeply priced for just a sandwich, even in this area. Mind you, you are getting very fresh, high quality ingredients which can’t easily be matched in surrounding delis. I’ve never had a dessert, chocolate, or coffee-product I didn’t like here, and adore the fact that you can shop online, and pick up in any of their stores(handy, as some of the truffle collections aren’t available in every shop). Wonderful option for yourself, your family, a quick business coffee, et al.

This is cool network of Scandinavian coffee bars. Minimalistic design, very good espresso drinks, friendly staff. A bit on expensive side though, but very pleasant and nice place to have your coffee break.

I can’t start my work day without Fika. Their coffee is THESHIT(the good kind) and their pastries are out-of-this-world. I would give them 5 stars except their service kinda sucks. They don’t work well under pressure ATALL and they take it out on their customers. Even when they’re not under pressure, staff seems dry AF. There’s probably like one dude that’s mad cool, but everyone else seems sad. And I always come in hoping they’ll know exactly what I want but they don’t. I know it’s not Starbucks, but shit! I’m here like every day and I always order the same thing! I swear, I feel like they purposely make sure they don’t remember my order. But I’m probably just being a princess. I was looking forward going Central Park with hot chocolate in my hand during my New York trip. I was really excited to make my humble dream comes true. I decided to come here because it was near from Central Park. it was small place and crowded, I had to wait for about 10minutes. the taste was good!

10th Avenue in my neighborhood has generally been a wasteland. Maybe people are afraid to venture past 9th Ave, I have no idea. Lately, however, new places have been opening up as the neighborhood changes with the addition of new housing, etc. Fika is one of those places. I used to go to Sweden for work a lot and Fika loosely means sweets and coffee in the afternoon, a coffee break. Who knew that a Swede-inspired coffee shop would ever be such a thing. Anyway, this location on 10th, near 55th street is a large, 2 story space with floor to ceiling glass, letting lots of light in and making the place feel light and airy. I don’t drink coffee, but I got a pastry. The pastry was excellent and a lot of the other odd and ends reminded of the pastries and breads I used to see in Swedish coffee shops. This is a great place to do some work or unwind on a Saturday and most of all it is a great addition to the neighborhood.

Simple. Swedish. Coffee. FIKA offers delicious iced coffee and espresso with a side of chocolate. All of these are impressive, but I am partial to the iced coffee. There a lot of coffee shops in the city, but when I’m there on business I really enjoy the simplicity and consistency of FIKA. They have a number of salads and actual food as well, but this review is strictly of their coffee and sweets. Tip: If the weather is nice, grab a cup of their finest iced coffee and take a therapeutic stroll around the Plaza Hotel.

Really reluctant to write a review so this place isn’t inundated with 1000s of people. It has two levels with enough tables that you’re almost always guaranteed a place to sit. Yes, people are correct — there is no ‘Swedish atmosphere’ — whatever that means. Who cares: Good coffee, free wifi and seats. Come here!

Good place if you avoid the coffee. I had a double latte. It’s overpriced, lukewarm and bland. Now onto the good stuff. The sandwiches are delicious. I had the Swedish meatball and beet salad sandwich. Crusty bread and lots of meatball. The beet salad was a nice contrast of flavor as well as color, which is a good thing since the meatball itself is an ugly grey color. I finished off w/a chokoladboll and could not be any happier. I was thinking of sharing with my friends, but ultimately decided it was too good to share. I actually went here a week ago, but I’m still craving the dessert. I need to make my way back soon.
