I was staying around the corner for a few days and wanted to work at coffee shops with my perception of the New York vibe(as an out of towner). A friend recommended FIKA and I spent an afternoon working, drinking strong coffee, and eating rich truffles — not a bad way to spend a day! Big fan of the chokladball — not too sweet because there are oats mixed in, but would still satisfy a chocolate craving.

Even before I came here, I saw pictures of the interior and I already loved it. When I walk in, the atmosphere was quiet and(productive?). It was a cold day and my friend and I were waiting for another friend to come in before we order. There weren’t much available tables at that time(~12pm) but after a 10 – 15 minute wait, we got a table of 4. I ordered a matcha latte recommended with soy milk. Overall the taste was 4⁄5. I also had a chocolate($ 2) that I forgot the name of. It was expensive but super good, one of the best chocolates I’ve tasted! My friends and I stayed there to study for 2 and a half hours and it was very productive. I would come again to give their other coffees and chocolates a try!

A one is generous. The coffee was bitter. The tea was weak. The cookies nondescript. All of. This was served by a barista with attitude — a bad one — in a room with unclean tables and floors. Mr Barista was condescending and impatient. Who needs this? The management would be wise to clean the restaurant and have a «customer comes first» retreat for Mr Barista. Get it together.

Yeah this place just isn’t very good. It looks nice from the outside and inside but the food is junk and the drinks are pretty bad. Go across the street for something better.

Despite the others reviews complaints about lack of outlets and so so coffee, I completely disagree. Yes there are no outlets, get over it, I worked here for two hours with no complaints. The iced coffee was perfect for those of you who are like me, and need a less bitter and smoother coffee. Well balanced and perfect dark or with cream and sugar. I stumbled upon the Fika on 7th and tried the pumpkin oatmeal, all I can say is damn good oatmeal. Another great balance of flavors and definitely filling. On my entire visit here in NYC, I ate breakfast at Fika and got the same thing over and over, oatmeal and iced coffee. The atmosphere is perfect here as well. No snobby coffee drinkers, plenty of space to spread out and be left alone to do your thing. The music ranged from old time rock n roll to blues to jazz to 50s and a few Christmas songs, seeing as it end of October, that is appropriate. I’ll definitely keep coming back whenever I work in Chelsea. Go for the oatmeal and stay for the relaxing atmosphere. Great place to people watch

Stumbled into FIKA on a search for a café in the area that allows laptops. There were a few outdoor tables and the indoor area is nice and open as well. It’s definitely a place where you can sit here for a while and get some work done. But make sure your laptop is well charged cause there are no outlets. I was pretty disappointed by the drinks I tried today. The matcha tea latte was very underwhelming. There’s the slightest hint of matcha, in a lot of almond milk and foam. My friend’s iced matcha tea latte was the same. I didn’t really want to finish the drink at all. My friend’s cappuccino was weak as well. For the price we paid for these drinks, I suggest you save your money and go somewhere else. I don’t know if we were just unlucky and came in at a bad time, but I really don’t see the good qualities other people have mentioned here.

A chill place to grab a drink and sit down to do some work. The people working here are very passionate about their job and they are always willing to explain everything to you. From your drink to their truffles. Ordered an Americano and it is STRONG! If you are looking for something to keep you up, their Americano will do the trick. It is not crowded so you can sit here for as long as you want as long as you buy something which I think it really cool and the people working there won’t flip out about it. These are the types of café that I like.

My coworkers and I usually get lattes around 4pm every day from either Grumpy’s or Telegraph. Came here today for a change of scenery and boy do I regret it. All three of us threw them out right away and went back to our regular spot. My latte literally tasted like salt water with a splash of coffee. Absolutely disgusting. I’ve gotten lattes here before that were totally fine but not today. Please train your baristas!

Good chai, comfortable seating, pleasant ambience, nice staff. I also enjoyed the muffin I tried and a few of the teas, all fine, nothing exceptional, but good. The brownie was incredible, though!

I love this coffee shop! Their espresso is always perfect, the pastries are fresh, chocolate is awesome(makes good gifts too!), and super friendly staff. Did I mention I love their latte art? This newer chain is not only expanding, but maintains their quality coffee and food. Keep up the great work! This Fika is my favorite. The staff is always welcoming and helpful. They move quickly and flawlessly. The atmosphere is awesome and their bricks walls add to the cool coffee shop look.

Fika is expanding way too fast, and diluting its brand. This one is about the same as others, but they’re just too concentrated and without the name recognition of a Starbucks AND lacking the must-visit reason of less stretched-thin indie shops, I’m surprised people justify visits.

What the… They have zero outlets. I asked. Why else would you go to a bland large coffee shop chain? If I wanted atmosphere and chit-chat I’d go to far more charming coffeeshops with no laptop policy(Commons Chelsea, Low line, Rex, Grumpy’s etc). I target generic places like Fika to get shit done. Which apparently they know but try to passively avoid.(There are«laptop» or bar tables but outlets are closed up along the wall. Not cool) I left. Not going back until they add either outlets or charm. You choose, Fika.

A new FIKA location on Ninth Ave and 21st in Chelsea. Small quiet space was empty surprisingly on a warm and bright Sunday afternoon that saw the streets filled with people. Roughly 4 or 5 tables make it a decent space to have a quiet coffee or tea. Perhaps since its new it hasn’t become busy yet as it seems everything else around the neighborhood seemed bustling.
