Want to know where you see’ll works by the next trailblazers of the art scene? This is the place. Ronald Feldman has long had a reputation for shows of avante garde and socially important works but his current shows have been great in highlighting new artists. He also reps a small but impressive line-up of artists that do challenging but beautiful art work. Yishay Garbasz’s Ritual and Reality which was a solo show there from February 15-March 22, 2014 really showed the depth you can have from a solo artist show about one project. It captured the realities of the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant incident in a way that is both restrained and very profound. The work along with the 30 minute narration envelopes the viewer in her personal experience being in the environment and the unnerving desolation of a once thriving area.

I saw a really fascinating exhibit here that explore the role and perception of genders. A lot of the pieces were quite graphic, but that’s what makes them memorable. One woman videotaped and had on display the instruments she used to brand the same numbers her mother had as a Holocaust survivor. Haunting.
