I really wish Estrellita did more to show that they cared about me being disappointed to find a very long strand of black hair in my guacamole. On Friday nights, my sister and I typically come here for burritos/fajitas(which are tasty!). I am all about supporting family-owned businesses due to how hard it is for new restaurants that open up in our neighborhood. With that said, it’s a huge turn off when the effort to service recurring customers ISNOT present from management. When I noticed the hair, I motioned towards a gentleman in the back who came over, apologized, and asked me if I still wanted guac. Although I agreed to another serving, my appetite had been ruined. An hour later, the check came around and I saw that I was charged for the guac($ 8!!). A bit irked, I called the waitress over and inquired as to whether they could waive the cost of the guac due to the aforementioned incident. She turned to her colleague who told her that that’s not something they can do. It really broke my heart to have to leave $ 0 tip because I know how hard these girls work. But I feel like they should’ve called a manager over to handle it with a bit more care. Everyone in that restaurant should be wearing a hair net at all times — no excuses. So sad to have experienced this, as Estrellita was a favorite of mine and my sisters. Needless to say, you won’t be seeing me around here anymore :(

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. It’s quite simply some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had, at incredible prices. The tamales with cheese and jalepenos are divine. The pico de gallo is delicious, with balanced onions, tomatoes, onions, avocado and cilantro. The guacamole is superb as well. My favorite dishes are the taco salad, enchiladas suizas, and camerones a la diabla. I would recommend this place to ANYONE who likes Mexican cuisine.

Great food and service for the $. Fajita’s are good and the guacamole is one of the best I’ve had.

Oh what can I say other than Ridiculously Delicious… and fresh and great service and nice little quaint place and clean and fast and oh just so yummy. I’ve been a customer of Estrellita Poblana from the time they had just a little store on Westchester Ave(way, way back in the year 2000 ;P) and unlike some places when they grow Estrellita, has never disappointed. I’m very glad they’ve been able to expand remaining true all those qualities of fresh, clean, real food we’ve come to expect. Keep up the good work guys!

Initially found this place through Grubhub, but have been to the location since then several times. First off delivery is really fast, which is a big plus for me. The restaurant has good ambiance, and great attentive service. Have never seen it full but that might be because I’ve always been there early. Initially ordered the Al pastor burritos all the time, which are great, big and quite tasty but am currently obsessed with the mole enchiladas and the sopes. Overall great food, albeit the rice has always seemed a little stale. Would recommend. PS: what’s with the no credit/debit? Thought it was a temporary thing when it happened to me but looking through the reviews it seems others have had issues with this as well. As someone who doesn’t like to carry much cash or use out of branch ATMs, this is quite an inconvenience.

I have never eaten in house here, so this review is strictly for their delivery. I really appreciate the price to quality ratio here. The food is generally cheap and arrives intact. It’s often a little cold, but I live over a mile away, across a bridge, and have so far only ordered in the winter, so I see no reason that this shouldn’t be the case. After a number of orders, I’ve only had one that wasn’t correct. When I called about this, the staff was generally courteous and sent the missing items. They arrived in decent time. More than anything, I like the extensive menu. I don’t eat meat, but with this variety that’s not really a problem. I’d love to see a meat-free taco, but beyond that I’m quite happy with this place.

This is one of my all-time faves in the Kingsbridge/Riverdale hood. Most of the local restaurants in this area are middling at best, but everything I have sampled here has been stellar. I’ve both eaten in and had home delivery, and all the food has been fresh, authentic, and delicious. I’ve tried chiles rellenos, many different tacos, ceviche, guacamole, huaraches, cochinita pibil, barbecued goat, carnitas, and more. Everything has been truly superior! I feel very fortunate to have such a great Mexican restaurant in my area. Portions are generous, prices are fair, and delivery is friendly and quick. What more could anyone ask?

I’ve never actually sat in and ate here but it is easily my favorite Mexican spot to order from grub hub. I’ve had the enchiladas, black beans, rice, and nachos. The portions are huge. The sauces and guac is delicious and so are the dishes. The delivery is always so speedy. I have for sure found my favorite order in Mexican spot.

My friends and I wanted to try a new place and we ended up coming here. We were even happier when we saw they had happy hour. We got passion fruit margaritas for $ 5.00. I enjoyed their steak tacos. It was delicious. I also loved their salsa with chips. I’ll come again to try new things. Service was great for me. Our waiter was really nice. She kept coming to our table asking if we wanted anything else. I recommend this place.

My favorite Mexican restaurant opened up a location near my home, im elated. This place never disappoints. I walked in, and was served by Maya. She was so professional and on top of everything. To top it off, she does everything with the cutest smile. The timing of my food was just perfect. Definitely a great experience, and Maya made it even better. I will definitely come back. My food was just simply great. I look forward to many more check-ins at this establishment.

I’ve tried most of the mexican restaurants in the area and the food at Estrellita is the best by far. I generally order for delivery and anyone who tries their food also agrees, it is fresh and has a great flavor. I usually get the fish tacos, which are great, or the al pastor spicy pork. Their burritos are also very good. The delivery service is also great. I’ve ordered on many occasions and they are always prompt. It’s almost scary how fast they deliver. Overall, no complaints with Estrellita. I’ve had nothing but good experiences with them.

My boyfriend lives right around the corner on Kingsbridge Avenue so we are no strangers to Estrellita Poblana. We know to bring cash because they don’t always accept credit/debit(and they’ll tell you AFTER your meal), but there’s an ATM inside in case you don’t have cash on hand. The food here is so delicious and full of authentic Mexican flavor. They start each table off with house-made chips and salsa that is so yummy. I usually get the chicken tinga(chipotle) quesadilla topped with queso fresco and crema as the main event, and it’s the perfect amount of spicy. The yellow rice and black beans they serve on the side is a meal in itself, and so, so good. Because the quesadilla is so damn good I’ve only tried a small fraction of the huge menu, but I look forward to exploring the rest. The service is pretty good, sometimes a little lacking. The mariachi band is a lot of fun!

While the service was good and the staff was very nice, the food was terrible! Came here a few times trying different things and everything was just bland and overcooked or oddly soggy. Two stars for great service.

Food was good. Ordered fish tacos and my friend had the tortilla bowl salad. Plates were huge! More bang for your buck. You can’t beat the $ 5 happy piña coladas and margaritas. My only gripe was the service. Wasn’t that busy but it took them awhile for the waitress to take our orders, refill water, and get our check. Also the credit machine was down. Luckily my friend was able to spot me.

I really didn’t think I would find a great Hispanic restaurant to eat at in The Bronx. I’m very excited that my curiosity got the best of me today. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was pleasant to be in. Waitress was very very nice and I hope we get her again.

I’d like to start by stating that this place had terrible service, waiter took about 25 minutes to bring my friend and I some water.** The drinks were oversaturated with alcohol, which made them unbearable to drink. Once the time came to order our entrees(grilled chicken quesadillas), we thought we were going to be fine because how can you go wrong with quesadillas, right? WRONG. The chicken was very undercooked and chewy and barely any cheese was put on, so it was basically a large tortilla folded over with some mediocre chicken inside. Please do not let the four stars you see fool you, like it fooled me. ** As a sidebar I would like to point out that we went at 4pm on a Friday, it was not busy.

Three stars only because I loved it but my mom thinks the food made her sick. My mom and I were looking for some great Mexican food after visiting the cloisters. We found this place through Unilocal and thought we would give it a try. Metered parking, and was not hard to find. The service was alright… We had two different girls who I don’t think knew the other one was helping us. And getting the check at the end took over 15 minutes. We started off with guacamole. It was good, but uou could really taste the lime. The house salsa was GREAT. I got the«tacquitos» they came with rice and beans. All perfect :) I also it a margarita. I asked for frozen. It was a margarita with a lot of huge ice cube. My mom got the chimecangas(sp ?) they also came with rice and beans. She loved them while eating them, but later on she felt sick. Not sure if it was the food or just her but after reading other reviews I believe her.

The food is enjoyable however the credit card machine doesn’t work and there is no effective warning given by management. The wait staff was gracious and apologetic however the customer needs to be given the information up front when there are limited payment options. Management who makes their money either way doesn’t seem to care how and if this will affect the wait staff and their final take home pay.
