essentials was closed for awhile, but it looks like they’ve re-​opened. the employees don’t seem to care much about their job so as long as you don’t have any questions or need help with anything, this is a fine place to pick up some beauty essentials when en route.

Decent spot to get beauty essentials like a hair brush, make up mirror or Essie nail polish. Prices are sort of high for the merchandise they offer (i.e. I paid $ 40 for table mirror) and they don’t have the best selection of straighteners but it’s a good neighborhood spot that comes through when I need it.

I went in here to pick up some shampoo and conditioner. Paid with my CC and decided at the register to grab some hair mask, told the female employee i would just pay cash for it. It came out to 3.91. Told her i have a penny. She replied that she already put $ 10 into the machine and that she couldn’t take my penny. UMM. okay you give me nine cents, I give you a nickel and 5 pennies, you give me a dime. I learned simple math when i was in first grade… not that hard. She gave me a TOTAL ATTITUDE, said «I did you a favor by letting you in here» I asked what time they close, 8pm. Well it’s 7:55pm so you are still open. Then she goes on to tell me that they have to be out of the store by 8:15pm before the alarm goes off. RIGHT! After her being SO nasty to me i told her i had no problem talking to the manager «I AM THE MANAGER» umm okay, So ill talk to the owner. «Good Luck — its my dad!» Told her i would NEVER return, she said a few nasty things as I left. DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS SHOP. The products are OVERPRICED. You can get salon products at DUANE READ on 35^th and 6^th (Bumble and Bumble!)

This place is small and the staff is not very helpful or knowledgeable. Not only that, but they overprice their products. Avoid this place at all costs.
I got a the Kerastase Nutritive Bain Satin 2 Complete Nutrition Shampoo. I paid them $ 38.00 for it because I didn’t know any better. The horror, I checked folica and amazon and everywhere else and found out it’s actually sold for 28.00. Not only did they over charge $ 10 but also added taxes.
This is one expensive mistake I won’t be repeating.
