Delivery is not the best idea for Empire Wok! The food Finally came 1 hour past the estimated time and probably the worst Worst Chinese food I have ever had delivered. I am giving them 2 stars because the delivery man actually apologized for being so late. He should have apologized for the cold, soggy food we ordered.

If I could give less than one star, I would. I ordered delivery from here, and it was late. I called to ask where my food was and the woman on the phone yelled at me for giving incorrect info(I didn’t). When she found my order, she yelled that it was on the way and hung up. I received the wrong food, called again, and she insisted that lo mein didn’t have noodles in it and that I had ordered the wrong food… what?!

Do not order from this place if you are more than .5 miles away. My roommate and I ordered from Seamless(which means we were in their delivery area) and after an hour we called to check since the delivery time was set to 30 – 45 minutes. They had not even made our food yet! We waited another half hour and called again and got the same response. He also said that we were«really far away» and that they were«so busy». He didn’t even apologize or offer a discount or anything! I have no idea if the food is good or not but the service is terrible! Seamless refunded my money and pulled them off the site for the night. Proceed with caution with this place.

If I could give 0 stars, that still wouldn’t portray how horrible this place is. Wasn’t aware that the goal for making Chinese food was to create an almost inedible experience for the customer. 12.50 for dog food masked as General tsos chicken that wasn’t chewable and literally had to be spit out. How this place is still churning out hot garbage is beyond me.

My boyfriend ordered food 2 hours ago(still don’t have it) and we live just a short walk from this place. We got a call about an hour ago saying that there were internet problems and then an accident so his food had to be remade. Ok that’s fine, I get that unfortunate things happen. But for customers that are terribly inconvenienced to begin with, you should be able to get replacement food to them in under an hour(especially when it’s only food for a single person). He called the restaurant asking them to cancel the order and was rudely told«fine» and was abruptly hung up on. A lot of opportunity to improve here.

In addition to taking about an hour for deliver, without utensils or napkins I found a bug in my food! Needless to say I will never order from here again.

Delivery way extremely late without apology and the food was not good. After waiting the maximum time allotted on seamless we called and were told 20 minutes, rudely. Then we ended up waiting over 45 minutes and called again with no apology. When the food came it was barely edible.

This is the worst place in the world. Once the delivery man started yelling at me, and called his boss forcing me to talk to him, all because I had only tipped $ 3 on a $ 30 order. It’s not a great tip, but there were only 3 items that he delivered. Also, they never read the instructions you put. I usually ask the delivery man to just leave the food at my door if I’m not home as I sometimes run late due to traffic; never once have they listened to this. They just keep calling and calling and screaming at you for making them wait. Once they plain did not deliver my food for hours, until I called up Eat24 and they complained that I was not home to pick up the food. What a bunch of idiots. Too bad this is the only Chinese option on Eat24. May use Grubhub for Chinese food from now on. The delivery people are the worst, and the food is just plain normal.

Its fast food chinese let’s be reasonable this isn’t a fancy place. But sometimes I want greasy fried pork dumplings and some crab Rangoon.

There was an Empire Wok located on 81st-82nd Street for many years. It has closed within the past 5 years. If this is a reincarnation of the original restaurant, it will be a lifesaver for me. After ordering from only two Chinese restaurants for 20+ years, it has been difficult to find a new one that serves food of the same high quality. For those of you who know about the old Empire Wok, is this location run by the same owners and does it have the same menu. Thank you.

Kind of an old school Chinese restaurant reminiscent of the type you would see cops eating at in 1970’s crime drama TV shows. Decent Americanized Chinese food, but nothing that can compare to Chinatown restaurants. Has all the bells and whistles on the menu that one would expect. The times I have dropped in here for a quick lunch special in the $ 6 range have been decent enough. Good wonton soup, steamed chicken & shrimp with vegetables and brown rice is passable, and hot tea with refills. Service is nice too. Solid but nothing amazing. Good local Chinese place.

Reminiscent of old fashioned Chinese restaurants from the 70’s — growing up in the outer boroughs. Missing are the red/green vinyl booths and red & gold lanterns. The food is tasty and promptly served. The relaxing atmosphere is «unhipster-like» and warm, which is most welcome in this neighborhood. The service is no worse(and often better) than any other on the UES, as reported. Tried many, many dishes: chicken with cashews, rainbow special, sesame chicken and beef, lo mein, chow fun, steamed chicken with vegetables, cold sesame noodles, dumplings, prawns, shrimp, vegetarian, various soups — nothing fancy — always tasty. The wide crunchy noodles and hot tea keep on coming, and are always served with a smile. A fine meal and family dining experience, it is perfect for all three generations. No rush — no fuss. Reasonable prices, too. Giving it four stars as for reliably safe and tasty.

Ordered Chinese food here upon getting a Friday midnight craving. Got the pork lo mein and sesame chicken. Food was decent(crispy chicken, not overly breaded and the lo mein was not overly greasy). Service on the phone was amazing(perfect English, very polite). Fast delivery(under 30 mins on a Friday night 30 mins before they closed). Wish the place was open later.

We were craving chinese last night. We were looking for a little bit more upscale than fast food chinese, but a little less than«let’s spend 30 bucks on a plate». So we did our usual walk through my neighborhood, until we found something we liked. While I would not go here for the ambiance, I would probably order delivery from here. Very average chinese food. Not bad, but it’s not amazing that it would change your life.

This place was okay, nothing special really — we ended up going here when we saw that the wait for Blockheads was ridiculously long. We had General Tso’s chicken as well as General Tso’s Tofu and both dishes were just fine. We even had Tsingtao beer, which was a nice change from the usual stuff! Probably wouldn’t go out of my way to go here again, but it was a nice place to sit and have a decent meal. Word to the wise — do not go to the bathroom here until after you’ve eaten. It skeeved me out a bit, as there were two small little bugs on the sink counter top that made me lose my appetite.

After trying in vain to order take out from FOURTEEN other Chinese restaurants in the Upper East Side at 12:15 on Friday night, we finally got lucky with Empire Wok. I had no idea it was so difficult to get delivery after midnight! Delivery was prompt and the food was pretty good. We only had one dish(large fried tofu with broccoli, $ 10) and boy did it hit the spot! I can’t speak to any of the other dishes, but I’m sure they are all pretty run of the mill average Chinese. Negative points for stale fortune cookies :(

Have gotten delivery from here twice, i do not like the place. The food is kind of bland, and very greasy. it’s as if they poured all the oil out of the wok right into your container. Even the egg drop soup had an odd taste to it. I, also, will not be ordering from Empire Wok again.

Food just okay; service pleasant, décor boring. They seem to have a few regular patrons, but I’ll not be one of them.
