It was ok until I checked my bank statement. I ordered five shots, so I left a five dollar tip on my check. A few days later I notice my bank statement and the tip amount was $ 14! They changed the tip I left. Now I can’t get in touch with anyone at the bar. I call almost every day. For the record, I was not drunk. I had one shot and that was my only drink for the night. So I know what I put as the tip. Beware of this place. Use cash.

I hadn’t been here for awhile, and when I went back last night I was pleasantly surprised. I remembered it being somewhat crowded and cluttered the last time I went, but last night was a whole different experience! The layout here is a lot of open space in the middle, with cute tables and booths(I mean really cute) lining the entire perimeter of the space. The result is a rare balance of coziness without clutter, and since everyone has a spot of their own, the bar was never crowded. Amazing! Why can’t more bars pull this off? The music also threw me for a loop — it was an awesome mix of everything from Daft Punk to Miguel. I was there with an eclectic group last night, and i think almost everyone heard at least one song that made their eyes light up with surprise. That’s always such a treat at a bar that you’re not even expecting to have music at all. Drinks were cheaper than most bars I’ve been to in the city — my cider was only $ 5. Maybe it was a special, maybe Emerald Pub is that special, or maybe I’m special. Or ALLOFTHOSE

I didn’t know the name of the place so I followed one of my co-workers because they called it ‘vinegar bar.’ Basically, because of the smell. There is a pretty funky smell coming from it, probably from some of the people there. I’m not rushing to say regulars since the people were escorted from the bar about 20 minutes after I walked in. The draft selection is pretty small, but the expected number of craft/craft-y beers. My two Goose Island IPAs cost me 10 bucks with tip so I can’t really knock this place too much. Vinegar bar FTW

The Emerald Pub is a lovely Irish Pub in the area, they have good valued mixed drinks(under $ 18) and beers… Which is definitely a hard find in this area. This place is especially fun during the summer as somethings they have the grill going! There is also a half off happy hour– and I think that’s pretty damn awesome. The music here is fun, there is a small dance floor and seating on the perimeter of the pub. If you can’t find a spot at a table, squeeze in by the bar! The bartenders here are friendly and make drinks quick. It definitely isn’t a super swanky or fancy place, but it’s a low key, laid back place to order some drinks to throw back. The few times I’ve been here, it’s been an overall relaxing and enjoyable night at the bar.

I really liked this place. Has a nice feel to it, wasn’t too crowded, good music playing, drinks were nicely priced and my friends told me that their drinks were all really strong so definitely worth the money. The bartenders were really nice and let me use my credit card even if I didn’t fully meet the minimum requirement. I will definitely be coming back here.

Here’s a tip: don’t go to this bar. This place is where dreams go to die. I’m sitting in here now. It smells like urine, and there’s a guy passed out on the bar. I’ve yet to determine if the two are linked.

Happy to have came here. A good spot kept on the DL. $ 4 beer until 8. Cool bartender. Definitely a good neighborhood spot to hide some famous people who just want a beer: hint hint:

Unfortunately I chose this place to duck into due to a major subway delay. The review that mentions the smell of urine is spot on… I got the same whiff. The whole time(1 drink) I was there I just looked around thinking how is this place in business and why are these people here? Wait a minute… I’m here too, they got my money! Not for long… I rather lick a subway car floor while waiting for service to resume.

Disclaimer: I’ve only been here during the day That’s right, I drink during the day sometimes. Not because I’m an alcoholic, but because I got it like that. A quiet Irish pub with a fireplace and a friendly bartender. The place was pretty quiet, because — you know, 2pm on a wednesday. I heard this place gets pretty busy on the weekend and plays loud pop music, so I’m glad I found it during the day, when I could order a nice(perfectly pulled) pint of Guiness and relax at a table, quietly reading my book and convincing myself I am more interesting than I actually am. This is your basic, no-frills, old-school Irish pub — a good one, but nothing to write home about. Excellent Guiness, nice people. I’ll be back

we had the misfortune of being invited here for a birthday. one must ask themselves why would you invite someone here for a bday. first of all; the guy at the door barely cards people; some yes and some no which is indicative of the management at this irish bar. thats what this is an irish bar(like in midtown) once inside you cannot help but recall fond memories of the locker room in high school when the stinky girls never showered(i’m being kind here; place smells like a open sewer in the summer) milling about you can’t help but notice the immature idiots walking around with inflatable penus and such. obviously, they cannot get in anywhere and thats what brought them here. no experience is to be had here; the same songs keep getting played over and over; but i guess its all good bc most of the people here are so out of their mind drunk and drugges they don’t notice. and oh; they charged me 8.00 dollars for a heineken. my boyfriend fell off the stool. bartender was ok. i wont even mention the bathrooms. that gift is for you; if your brave enough or must go. as i stated above; why would you invite someone here.

Fled The Anchor and ended up here. Great prices, great service, not too loud, and not too crowded. Emerald Pub saved my night!

We met here for my friends birthday-its okay they set aside an area for us and were pretty liberal with the alcohol content in drinks. I just find it hysterical that there is this dive on spring street(that in all fairness has been there way longer than that Trump monstrosity) They provided us with menus to order from somewhere-I have no idea where that was. The staff was nice enough. *shrug*

BIRTHDAYPARTYREVIEW This is delayed but in Oct 2010 I had my bday party(about 15ppl) here and it was a ridiculous good time. I got super lucky stumbling upon this gem while traipsing around town. The music: amaze-a-balls. Staff: was incredibly friendly and accommodating AND we had a reserved space with no $ down. It’s gonna be hard to top this year. We stayed all night — and had no intention of bar hopping. Friends still talk about what a good time it was, I’d do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Fun times. While all the other places on this block had a line– with horrible bouncers outside — we got right into Emerald Pub! Felt like i was back in Jersey. Ohhhhhhhhhhh yeah! *Fist pump. No no seriously — awesome music, the non-pretentious people, and the cheap drinks. Dancing too. Optional.

I was feeling pretty lukewarm about this pub to begin with. While the décor is a bit sexy-pub, the crowd is loud and drunk. There’s a weird stair and lip across from the bar that I was shoved into numerous times. The line for the bathroom was forever long. It’s too loud. But then walking from the back to get outside was hellish. I got slammed into numerous times, spilled on, and blocked on multiple occasions, just going a few yards. I can see why this bar is popular, I guess, but I won’t be coming back. Highlight: go to the back of the bar and try to figure out what the painting across from the bar says.

A review for people with ADD So I’m reading the Wall Street Journal last week, and they have these brief lists of recommended DVD’s.(I love lists) The movie: «After Hours»(Martin Scorcese) Since this movie is filmed in NYC(which I collect) I drop the order in seconds on my iPhone Amazon app. I get the movie the next day, along with a book I’m reviewing. I read my book, while I’m watching my movie, and on comes an exterior shot of Emerald Pub(then called Terminal Bar or at least for this movie) So, of course I need to Google that, to find its location. 308 Spring Street, now called Emerald Pub. Duly noted on Unilocal for this review. As I read my book, a short story essay involving Scotch, brings to mind that pub, and I think. «That would probably be a cool bar to hang out, drink Scotch, and read a book at the bar, like so many literary types I’ve admired in the past. (When is this guy going to get to the review?) All in all, this is a good place. I can’t speak to after work crowds, or this as a «destination», since it’s a little out of the way, but if you have a need to feed your obsessive compulsiveness for finding obscure movie scenes, this a good bet. Atmosphere: Cool Bartenders: Funny Scotch: Helpful The rest is mystery.

Emerald Pub, as of late, has been a go-to after-work bar for my office crowd and who can complain about a full-bar half-off happy hour? I surely can’t. The dim lighting and overall dark mood do a good job of masking the divey aspect of it all, the bartenders and bouncers alike are more than friendly, and the drinks are strong like bull. Naturally, this place gets a lot of leftovers from Sway and The Anchor, so it’s easy to write it off as second-rate. Sure, there are no celebrity DJs spinning ’til the sun comes up, but Emerald Pub never positions itself as such and deserves to be a destination all its own, at least for a few libations after a long day at the office. A warning to the weak — it is almost effortless to get drunk here. Emerald Pub really doesn’t do «buzzes». It’s one of those seedy bars where even the beer magically seems to double in stiffness. Keep the expectations low, your tolerance lower, and you’re good to go.

This is a great pub. Not only a nice selection of beer(tab) and whiskeys, moreover the service is very friendly. I’ve been there 3 times once when I was for vacation in NYC for 5 days. And in Summer you get free barbecue on thursdays.
