Walked to this small restaurant on the LES from Stuyvesant Town. The food was delicious and abundant… we all left with doggy bags. Waitress was very friendly and accommodating… even played music suitable for our ages. Would definitely recommend this family owned restaurant. They will deliver to Stuyvesant town in between our visits back.

A cozy little place on the lower east side. The food is good, the price really makes it a great. But the dining room is tiny. Seriously a subway car ¾th full seems larger. I’d recommend take out or delivery.

I’ve been coming here since I’ve moved to the neighborhood. The restaurant itself is very small. If there’s a handful of people it feels crowded and uncomfortable. Unless it’s empty I usually order take out or have it delivered. I’ve had the pernil, rice, beans, soup, steak, coffee, baked chicken, ribs, etc and all of it has been delicious. The waitresses are nice and their prices are good. Today I ordered a large mondongo(serving for two), white rice and two desserts for $ 15.50. With the exception of the tres leches cake(cake was dry) that I ordered, everything else was tasty.

Always a go to for lunch when I don’t bring my own from home. Food is as authentic as eating with family. The waitresses are super friendly and they serve really big portions. Any lunch dish is $ 6.00 and always served hot and fresh. Jugo de chinola and tamarindo always on deck and FRESH!!! Usually crowded but the line filters pretty quick, so always good to call ahead and just pick up.

Ordered catering for 10 people for an office lunch the day before. AMAZING and DELISH!!! Food was definitely made with love :). We ordered roast pork(pernil), roasted chicken, moro, salad with avocado, maduros and tostones. Really good price for all that food! Thank you!!! Will definitely order from here again!

Good spot if you’re craving Latino eats. The portions are a good size at a fair price, and there are plenty of options for those unfamiliar with this type of food. Just point at whatever’s in the glass case, and you can have it ladled over rice and beans. I didn’t love the bacalao because most of the fish was crumbled to bits in a mediocre sauce, but the mondongo saved the meal — ample chunks of chewy tripe immersed in a savory, hearty stew.

food is good and cheap. but the restaurant it self need someone to redesign it. to small and very uncomfortable. also the delivery system sucks balls. i order for delivery 3 time and all 3 time ut take way over 1 ½ hours to deliver. if it want for the good food i would put up with this.

This place is fantastic! Their Dominican soup had a light broth with quite hearty fillings, and pretty big for a «small» serving. Their goat stew was my favorite, richly spiced and full of great savory flavor, the meat was not fatty at all. The red beans were kinda BBQish, which I was not expecting, but were perfectly cooked and still tasted great. All this with a side of white rice ran me $ 16 even, I would highly recommend.

The East Village used to have many great casual Latin American restaurants, most have vanished as the rents have gone up. This cute little Latin lunch counter is a hidden gem. For the price of fast food you can get a variety of delicious freshly cooked dishes. I love the stewed chicken, the bacalao, and the sancocho. The staff and clientele are largely Spanish speaking, which adds to the charm of the place, but there’s enough English spoken to accommodate customers so don’t be scared away. My only criticism is that they are a bit heavy handed with the salt.

I just move here from Boston and I’m half Puerto Rican. I had the Cubano sandwich and I almost died because it was so good. I was starving and the sandwich was filled with delicious meat and the bread was pan seared with the sandwich, soaking up all the goodness. I am going there later today to try something new! Making my mouth water thinking about it :)

Best mofongo I’ve had in NYC. Great price too($ 5.50). The lunch deal is great– for 6 bucks you can get chicken, rice, and beans. The only thing is they are far from the main subway stops. Totally worth the walk though!

I like tripe. I like tripe soup. I love yellow rice. I think It must have been a confluence of poor luck on my part as they didn’t have any rotisserie chicken left for the day, and both the soup and rice were lukewarm, and yellow rice was dry. Prices have gone up since previous reviews(half chicken is $ 8.50 now), though still very reasonable. I’ll be back to try the chicken because it’s half a block from my apartment, but I’ll have the white rice and beans next time, thanks.

The same staff all year round, attentive both in person & on phone. They keep their cool even during lunch time. Good food. Not just PRican but Dominican dishes too.

Ok, so I was in the mood for mofongo and based on Unilocal,i walked 1.04 miles to get to this fantastic hole in the wall. The mofongo was great. And at $ 5.50 for mofongo with crispy pork you can’t go wrong. My friend had the rotisserie chicken, sweet plaintains, rice and beans, all for $ 6.00. She said the chicken was a lttle dry, but she still inhaled her plate. The place is small and was pretty busy at lunch time(clearly by locals who knew the quality of food and the amazing prices). A fantastic find, thanks Unilocal, and I will definitely be back.

This place is a block away from my job. It’s great. I buy a small plate for $ 3.50(add avocado for .50 more.) Very economical place. Food is good too.

I’ve only been here once, but I will definitely be back. I ordered the mofongo — mashed plantains mixed in pork fat with a delicious beef sauce poured over the top. This is a perfect little mom and pops joint to grab good grub and head to 1 of the gardens at 9th and C to enjoy an afternoon.

Just realized that this place is here. Decided I would stop in and check it out. It’s not huge inside, but is kept very clean and smells like heaven. So many choices I didn’t know which way to go. I decided to play it safe and get the pork chop sandwich. The chop was cooked to perfection. The bread it’s on melts in the mouth. They gave me the bone on the side as well. Not sure why but nibbled the meat off it. Oh and did I mention this place in inexpensive. Sandwich + organic green tea = $ 6. What a deal! Can’t wait to come back and check out the rest of the menu.

Some days I just want rice and beans. This place knows how to serve up some good rice and beans delivered right to my door. The portions were HUGE and it fed me and all my room mates. My new favorite Latino spot in the E.VIL. thanks
