GIANT portions. I ate ¼ of my burrito and was full to capacity. Mojitos were delicious. I stayed away from the brightly dyed tortilla chips. Divey but colorful atmosphere.

Very very good food! Had the rocks margarita and it was strong but it’s Happy hour so bring it on. Also had the ceviche so good try it! And for dinner tacos poblano! So moist and tasty the pork was. I took advantage of the free banana fried tacos(would never try it) but it was good and taste better because it was free. Will definitely stop by again for another round of good food and drinks. Came here on a Tuesday evening.

Salsa is SPICY! Happy hour margaritas are the BEST, you can’t beat the price. Staff is so friendly. Told us to take our time– it’s Friday. We never felt rushed. Food very tasty, generous portions. We all had enough to take to work the next day.

This is one of the best kept secrets in Manhattan. A true gem — great food and drinks, and fun and sweet staff. My friends and I decided to celebrate New Year there in the last minute since we wanted something different. The owner Maria was extremely accommodating to us, and made sure that we the best time! I will be a regular — they won my heart, palette, and wallet!

Came here with the roomies for happy hour. Loved the hole in the wall feel and sat up at the bar. For $ 5 during happy hour you have a choice of margs, well drinks, wine and/or beer. Complementary chips and salsa are great, super fresh and the salsa has a great kick too it. Everything tasted homemade. My roommates ordered chicken and beef fajitas and a chicken fajita salad. The portions were very generous and food was flavorful. Not only was the bartender friendly, he even offered to split our checks, love it!!!

Really enjoyed happy hour here last night(Wednesday). $ 5 margaritas, beer and wine are great and the free salsa and chips are actually good! I had the fajitas which was a healthy portion and we tried the taco salad as well which was good. The décor is lacking a little but service was very good.

Restaurant is great! Interior looks are a bit deceiving but food and drinks are delicious! One negative is that the guac that came with salad is mediocre, but all other food was great and place is good value. Happy hour is great deal and covers well drinks, beer and wine.

Whether it’s summer, fall, or winter, I’m always up for a good frozen margarita. Hell’s Kitchen has lots of places to choose from, but the best in my humble opinion is El Azteca. I’ve been a loyal customer of theirs for many years. Their margaritas are great and their prices unbeatable. They have a happy hour every day from 4−7pm($ 3.50 Domestic Beers, $ 4 Imported Beers, $ 5 Frozen Margaritas, Well Drinks, & Wines). Sit up at the bar and get free chips and salsa(the salsa is outstanding). The food is excellent too and the portions larger than average. I recommend getting the 3-choice combination platter. My staple is a chicken burrito, cheese enchilada, and beef taco. It all comes with rice and beans and for $ 14 you simply can’t beat it. My girlfriend loves their Chile Rellenos too, and their Chili Con Carne is a winner as well. Maria Diaz and her family have been running the restaurant since 1988. She’s a really nice woman who always takes the time to come say hello to her customers. Maria and her family restaurant is a truly refreshing spot. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as much as I have.

El Azteca sits in the middle block off on 9th Avenue. We came here for a late luncheon, and while they were almost closing, our very nice waitress was extremely very kind to sit us, take our order, and even provided us with their best margaritas! Woo-woot! What I like about El Azteca was how they cooked each of our meal fresh. While it may have been a bit of a wait for us, we did not mind because we were too busy admiring their drinks and their hot homemade chips that they kept bringing out to our table. One dish I would defiintely order again is their steak quesadilla. It was grilled nicely and very flavorful. Thank you El Ateca for your awesome service and for keeping your doors open for us so that our team can have a nice luncheon in the heart of Manhattan! Until then, Cheers! ~ :p

Service is very nice and atmosphere is festive. Definitely feels like a real neighborhood place. Margaritas are huge, though nothing super special. Food is descent. Come for the love. Three and half stars!

Found this place on Unilocal and did not disappoint. Very good margaritas at happy hour and excellent food at good prices. Happy we walked over. All 4 of us had a great meal. My taco was stuffed with meat and tostada piled high with chicken. Try the grande margarita!

Cucumber margarita with papers is the best ;) i tried crab meet enchilada and it is delicious ;) i would say now it is my favorite place in the area. Great food drinks, happy hour and good prices.

There are a number of Mexican restaurants in the neighborhood, but this is my favorite. Their green sauce is wonderful, and my friend can’t stop raving about the enchiladas he had. My meals here have been consistently excellent. If I had to pick a favorite, I’d probably go with the mushroom fajitas, but ask me again tomorrow and I may have a different answer. It’s fun to just sit at the bar(great margaritas and chips with salsa) and chat with the bartender and the regulars – this place attracts fun people.

I ordered their lunch special — Chicken Taco and Enchilada combination platter. My first bite of that Chicken Enchilada was absolutely delicious. The chicken was juicy and very tender and the amount of cheese they used was just right. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of my lunch, & every sip of cup of my coffee that came with the lunch special. Not to forget, the waiter was very courteous. Recommendation(s): Chicken Enchilada

I usually judge a Mexican place by how well they make their guacamole. It’s probably not a very fair process but I feel like if you can’t make something as simple as guacamole right, then there’s a good chance that the rest of the food might not be that great either. I had a taco salad with shredded chicken. It comes with a dollop of guacamole. The guacamole tasted like those pre-made ones that you would find at the supermarket. The tortilla shell that the salad came in was bogged down with grease. I had one piece and couldn’t eat any more of it. Other than that, it was just your average salad. Nothing to write home about. They have happy hour until 7. $ 5 beers, house wines, mixed drinks, and small frozen margaritas. It’s $ 7 if you want a medium, and +$ 1.50 if you want to add flavoring. I’m normally not a huge fan of margaritas since tequila has been the death of me many, many times, but this one was pretty good. Not overly sweet with the flavoring. I would recommend the pineapple. But stay away from the strawberry — it tastes like you’re drinking strawberry syrup. Tip — check in for free banana taquitos for dessert. They’re rolled up tortillas with a banana filling, then fried, and drizzled with honey and whipped cream.

Met my homeboys here on a Wednesday evening. Packed bar and filled tables. Rightfully so… The place has this very authentic Mexican vibe and feel. From the décor to the music. Staff was friendly and attentive. The bartender was quick, fast, and on point. The drinks were good and tasty, especially the piña coladas. We ordered the quesadillas which was small in portion but great in quality. I can imagine myself definiteky sliding through here another time I find myself in Hells Kitchen.

Had a great time here for girls night! Since I had a Unilocal account, when I checked in an offer for free banana taquitos popped up. HOWAWESOME… no seriously the taquitos were awesome. And they gave me a free full order, they did not skimp. my friends were thankful for my Unilocaling! The ladies and I had a few drinks, which were pretty good. I also ordered a beef burrito, which was incredibly filling. It had a lot of meat in it. But it was super yummy. Came with a side of tasty guacamole and sour cream. The restaurant is in a great location, but the good food is enough to make us come back!

Mexican We were in the area for a show and had some time to kill so we popped into El Azteca for some pre-show margaritas and food. The server was pleasant and got us rolling with margaritas right away — they were made well and we got busy sucking those down while we ordered. Comp chips and salsa were good — nice and spicy on the salsa. Food came out and it was solid Mexican food– all beans etc were made properly. we both enjoyed our meals and washed it all down with another margarita each. All in all a good spot for Mexican and /or margaritas. Give it a shot.
