LOVELOVELOVE this place. There is a bit of a language barrier, but all you ever need to order are the dumplings and of course the hand pulled noodle soups. People think this place is ghetto, but you have to get over its appearance and set up and just enjoy the delicious food. Also, make sure you try their special hot sauce on their tables. Use only a little though, otherwise you’re mouth will be on fire.

Very solid hand pulled noodle spot, in my top 3 in the area. Dan Dan Noodles are great but as with all of these spots, they go light on the meat. You will leave full and satisfied for 4.25, not too many places you can say that for.

Ghetto. Ghetto and good is one thing, but ghetto and not good, now that’s just the worst of both worlds. Ordering food at Eastern Authentic requires a decent knowledge of Chinese character reading ability and Mandarin speaking ability. The front side and the back side of the restaurant share the same kitchen, however cigarette smoke permeates on one side as this restaurant looks the other way when it comes to people smoking inside. Most of the guilty cancer stick inhalants are the cooks themselves.

The five of us ordered four different types of noodles: 2 taro & duck, a lamb stomach, a beef, and a fried noodle(beef). Noodles may have been handmade fresh, but were limp and clumped within our broth soup, which was tasteless. The duck must have been horrible since a full bowl was left behind. Beef was okay, nothing exceptional. Lamb stomach and fried noodles were consumed with the least complaints. Dumplings were quite good. The waitresses were patient and kind.

I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while. it got great reviews and a write up in the NYT, AND its one of a few places that will hand make their noodles right in front of you. So i went here today and got beef and noodle soup, dumplings, and sesame and peanut noodles. The broth at japanese ramen shops is better, but the noodles here are certainly good. $ 4.50 for soup. the dumplings were pretty good, i think we got 10 and they were steamed chive and pork dumplings. the sesame noodles were great, really tasty with soy sauce and maybe a little peanut butter?($ 1.75). Altogether for 2 of us it was $ 14.25. There is zero ambiance here and no one speaks english. I repeat. NO one speaks english here.

I loooooooooooove noodles! This is the only Chinese place that I know of that actually makes their own noodles on location. The restaurant is definitely not about ambiance. They have a rotating electric fan hung from the corner of the room, they use plastic spoons, and the table at which I sat had a pile of bones on it before the woman cleared them off. No biggie, I didn’t come for the atmosphere anyway. What I came for, and got, were the hand pulled noodles. They have just the right around of squishiness and springiness to them. The soup is delicious, but I would avoid the siu long bao(soup dumplings), because they’re far from amazing.

oh yeah baby, noodles, noodles, and oodles of noodles! noodles and tendon, noodles and brisket, noodles and pork bone, noodles and fish balls, noodles and wontons, noodles and spice, and everything in a huge-as-your-face bowl of savory soup. watch the guy who hand pulls the noodles to order, watch the guy as he runs back and forth taking orders, getting drinks, and offering menus. watch the guy as he shouts back and forth to customers, keeping an eye on everything while seeming like he’s completely oblivious to everything. watch the guy as he speedily hands you the check and returns your change. watch the guy because it’s the same guy who’s carrying out all these tasks simultaneously! we blatantly stared incredulously. this little shop is right next to the manhattan bridge in the Fuzhou region of Chinatown. GO. wait, don’t go, because there’s really only enough seating for 20 people and i’ll need my space by the front window ;)

A hand pulled noodle shop. Apparently they’ve been written up in NY Times before moving around corner to the current location. This small shop is about noodles, noodles and noodles. To be specific: hand-pulled noodles, vermicelli(bean thread noodles) and rice noodles. The stars of the show are the hand-pulled noodles in soup. The house soup had everything thrown in there. Also good is the beef. The hand pulled noodles are probably the best around, and the soup is definitely one of the best(may be a bit strong tasting for some).
