I debated whether to give two or three stars. Earth Café is a café on Upper West Side. Take the ½/3 train to 96th street. It’s a quick journey if you take the express. We strolled into Earth Café and there were plenty of seats on a Saturday afternoon. The space is quite open and casual, and we sat at the 6-person table. It’s a good place to study — there were two groups of people studying with books + tablets out on the table. The water cups our server gave us looked dirty/had visible residue. The menu is pretty small and overpriced. I was quite hungry but I ordered just a salad. The food was pretty good but in small portions. The salads are smaller than an entrée yet bigger than a side salad. Our server left during our meal. We had no idea and were waiting for a while until I walked up to the counter and gave someone else our check. I probably won’t be coming back.

Food is so-so, coffee is average, service is ok not great. The only good thing about this café perhaps is they get good lights and settings as a café. But I don’t want to come back again.

I meet a friend of mine here once a month. It’s a relaxing easy going place that recently started offering waiter service. I enjoy the earthiness of this café as well and the delicious salads and parties ain’t half bad either. It gets crowded but clears out quickly. I’d recommend!

This Starbucks is sometimes great but sometimes missed the mark. They tend to be very busy during the times I visit and are often understaffed. Some of the employees are top notch but others seem to lack basic customer service training. Today, while a long line snaked nearly out the door, one employee stood behind the counter and did nothing — literally. Perhaps she was a trainee but she did not wear anything indicating so. At one point she pulled out a cell phone and was interacting w it. Then she walked away(the line had since grown) and another person walked behind the counter, she appeared to be an employee based upon how the others interacted with her but she was not wearing a uniform. She was touching her face and nose and talking on her phone. She just stood behind the counter. It’s possible that her shift just ended — if so, I would imagine that the company/employee protocol is not to hang out behind the counter. I’d love to give this place more stars — we’re an amenity-poor neighborhood and I want them to be successful. I am hopeful that things will improve.

Used to love going here for coffee all the time and I’d like to support small businesses in NYC. However, when I went today and the outdoor area was empty! I had a 5lbs Yorkie with me and the worker said«my boss aka the owner does NOT want dogs. You have to leave the dog out in the sidewalk and you can sit.» I’m shocked even after NYC passed the law about dining with dogs in the outdoor seating areas? Really? After I left I went to another place, they welcomed my dog with a fresh water bowl and I was seated immediately outside.

I’m not one to post negative reviews, and I used to love coming here to do work and grab some good coffee and food. Came here recently on a week day, paid $ 8.00 for a bacon egg and cheese croissant with barely any bacon. The cortado was fine but the barista was SO rude! Apparently the wifi was out«for the entire city» the hour that I happened to be here. Which obviously, is not true. Since customers were using it at the time… And I had wifi at my apartment near by. And everywhere else. The wifi(when available) is only free for one hour now. It seems like the rude service is a trend amongst other reviewers as well. I will absolutely not be returning and go to the nearby cafes(Filicori, Birch, Double Dutch, Café Frederick) with friendly service and actual wifi.

Had an excellent cortado. Decent pastry. Really nice natural light from the big windows and the staff was quite friendly. And it’s nice to have a no-wifi option to limit distractions(and keep the internet-dependent folks away).

Décor: So cute! A lot of natural light with lots of french door type of accents. Woodsy feel and clean place! Main reason I come back. Workspace: There’s a «bar» by front window, one long table, and a few tables for two(which is basically table for one if you mean to work on the table with a laptop). Seats are limited. Good for meetups?: Yep! you can meet a friend for coffee and for wine night because in the evening it becomes a dimly lit. Kind of a cute, low key date type of place at night. Desserts: Haven’t tried them personally but they look decent. Coffee: Pretty great if you ask me. I took off one star for this review though because i recently asked for a flat white and was assured that they knew how to make it(which is an art and very difficult to master) only to be disappointed because i got a cappuccino. Sorry guys, that ain’t the same thing. Mocha and coffee is good though. Overall will def come often, and recommend to a friend.

They don’t have WiFi on weekends and the cashier hates you before you even say«Hi.» But, get past that, and it isn’t so bad. The salmon sandwich is bomb! It’s a cute ambiance and work-friendly with plenty of space for all. But, unless you can use Time Warner Cable’s internet, save your work for the weekdays!

The avocado toast is crazy overpriced. Was really looking forward to it and don’t know what I expected other than what it was. Could and should have made it at home! However, when my friend and I got there we were distracted by the croissant options. I got the goat cheese, walnut and honey. He got the prosciutto. We were totally satisfied with those. So yummy! And filling as well. Good price too. Minimal seating to really get in there but they replaced a Blimpies so can’t really hope for exceptional seating. People working were nice, and they are every time I’ve been in there. Have gotten a scone which was amazing and an obviously over-priced freshly squeezed OJ which was obviously amazing too. But drank it in one go. Womp womp.

I make sure to get to this spot once a week for lunch. It’s a great atmosphere to catch up on some phone calls, read, or just chill. My go-to is a glass of Malbec and the avocado toast. They have indoor and outdoor seating. The staff is very friendly and makes you feel at home. This place is perfect for a quick getaway from work. Could be good by yourself or with a friend!

Real good coffee but that’s about it. They don’t have a lot of pastry selections neither they are something worth ordering. I really like their coffee but with so many options within a few blocks the competition beats this place. Paris baguette, Filicori, Birch… those are my first choices.

This neighborhood is lacking in honest — to — goodness cafes. Starbucks is convenient, but a place to sit down, unwind, relax, and have a good cup of something hot? You’ll have to walk several blocks. I’ve visited Earth Café a few times since last December, first for teas, but later for breakfasts to go, and, most recently, a nice simple sit-down Sunday Brunch al fresco. The outdoor seating area is welcomed, though I prefer the indoor seating: though not Earth Café’s fault by any means, many residents of the local SROs did ask us and other patrons for money. *shrug* It’s New York, I suppose. They’ve grown their menu since they first opened at the end of last autumn; once just teas, coffees, and small pastries, they’ve expanded their menu to sandwiches, salads, breakfasts to go(such as chia seed puddings), and cheese and meat plates, along with a small wine menu. That’s a great move on their part! For brunch, we each got croissant sandwiches(egg, cheese, and bacon for him; goat cheese, honey, and walnuts for me) and they were delicious. Though I am seeing other reviews of staff being downright rude towards customers, I have never seen such a thing in the ten or so months I’ve patronized this place; I’m guessing I’ve been there about 6 or 7 times. I can only say good things about the staff; they’ve been nothing but kind and courteous.(That being said… I’ll be curious how future encounters may turn out!) This is a great café to sit and unwind at, as well as a laid-back option for a light weekend brunch. Earth Café has really developed into a wonderful little oasis on the Upper West Side.

I LOVE this place. My favorite coffee shop in the UWS. Have been here many times and I just keep coming back. Love the cortado and the salmon croissant sandwich. Tons of natural light, Wifi works great and the whole place has a great vibe. ONCE, one of the baristas was oddly rude and tried to kick out all peeps sitting in a table {me included} because«there is a big party coming and they need this table». It was very strange as most of us {even thou obviously sitting at that table for a while doing work} still had drinks and were consuming food. Regardless that was the only incident with a staff member here {and the reason for a 4 stars}. All the other baristas are awesome and super-friendly. Super-recommended.

Earth Café has a great vibe. It’s definitely a popular place and has a small menu. I can see why people like staying here a while. With that said, the owner(I assume) was not friendly. He chewed me out for bringing in a coffee I was nearly done with — which I guess I understand — but then he went as far as to insult the place(their music, their beans… and I assume me?) where I got the coffee. He also kept walking around and scanning the tables, inevitably hoping for people to leave so others could stay. Maybe it was just his demeanor or the verbal encounter, but he did not make me want to stay. The avocado toast($ 10.95) was good but way over priced. The cold brew was good but didn’t necessarily stand out to me. Nice addition to the neighborhood, but I would definitely not stay next time.
