My fiancé and I went here on a recommendation. «The best Italian food in the city!» they said. Coming from an Italian family with high expectations for food, my fiancé cautioned me that it might not live up to the hype. While the food was good, the service was the best I have ever seen. As soon as we arrived without a reservation, we were swiftly brought to a table. We were immediately offered something to drink. There was no menu for drinks; when asked the waiter exclaimed, «We have a full bar!» implying you can have whatever you’d like. We soon ordered a delicious eggplant parmigiana appetizer and I could not get enough of the sauce, which was definitely the highlight of that dish. I sopped the rest up with bread and it made me look forward to my entrée of fettuccine bolognese. My fiancé had fuselli with shrimp, which also was delicious. We finished the meal with a melting chocolate heat tortino alla mode. Everything was brought out in a timely way. Our drinks were never depleted. The owner chatted with us briefly on the way out and was truly delighted we had come by as if we were honored guests in his own house. Perfetto!

Enjoyed the cozy atmosphere but they don’t have a wine list, so there was no way to know the prices without explicity asking the waiter how much each one is. A few types of wine(e.g., merlot, cabernet sauvignon, etc.) were noted by the waiter to our table. It was a bit of a shock to see $ 27 + tax + tip for a glass of wine. We would not have spent that much had we known the prices. We deduct one star for the lack of prices for the wines. Other wines we had were about $ 12. We had a small case of sticker shock when we got the bill. Probably not going back.

We made a reservation for four at this cute UES spot and were seated promptly. The service was good. The food however was mediocre at best. Our table ordered eggplant rollatini appys and they were not impressed. Overcooked and maybe even previously frozen, not cool when you are charging decent prices. BTW… The prices on their website are outdated, also not cool for those who may care. The entrees, chicken contadina, good but could have used a small carb on the plate. Two veal dishes which were underwhelming and the rotelli pasta dish which was fair. All in all, pricey for what was served and just meh… We will not be back.

This place does a lot of things well. The food is marvelous. Have the fettuccini Alfredo here and you will never order it from anywhere else. Possibly the best salmon in Manhattan; Always super moist and served on spinach which is folded into a wonderful yellow sauce. Due is romantic, not loud– even with a full house– and very, very consistent. I should know. I’ve been there many times. The only compalint I have is the staff however which seems to have slipped recently. The guys seem disinterested even jaded. One of the waiters in particular has an attitude that can negitively effect your experience. In addition the manager is too aloof to be a greeter. Given all that, the food is very special

Due is a do! Went for dinner at 7PM on a beautiful Saturday evening looking for outdoor seating and was lucky to find this gem. We did not have reservations but were seated immediately. It’s a pretty, unpretentious place with a decent menu. The service was attentive and courteous. The food was great. We had a crispy, fresh salad and fried calamari, shrimp and artichoke for appetizers. The spinach and cheese stuffed ravioli came in a delicious pink sauce and tasted fresh and homemade and the salmon over spinach in a mustard sauce was cooked to perfection. The food was served quickly and hot. I recommend this restaurant for the service, food and atmosphere.

Stopped by here about 7pm on a mid-March Saturday evening looking for a courteous calm quiet great quality Upper East Side Italian restaurant. Like something out of a movie. Charming waiter, Saucer, who couldn’t believe his boss seated us without a reservation, but never showed it! Fabulous seafood and salads and bread. Can’t speak to pasta because we didn’t try it. The clientele seemed very comfortable, happy to be there. The décor is beautiful, wood paneled, lovely art and lighting. Owner was most solicitous. I will travel from far upper west side to come here often!

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I stopped nagging everyone about cleaning up their stuff, and instead we went out to lunch! I don’t think I could have offered a better gift. Here are my thoughts on Due: Ambiance: the restaurant is nice and cozy. I understand from other reviews that it gets busy at dinner but the place was almost empty during our Saturday afternoon lunch. Still, it’s clean and we had a nice table near the window. No complaints here. Service: Friendly and quick, food came out fast. Food: We ordered 4 items and shared. – Crab cakes are excellent and were substantial. I highly recommend ordering these. – Pasta with fresh mozzarella was just okay. The sauce was nothing great and the cheese could have been a bit more incorporated in the dish. I would avoid this dish. – Shrimp with white beans(sorry I don’t know the exact name) was just okay also. Shrimp were a bit rubbery, beans a bit overcooked. I wouldn’t order this again. – Salad with hearts of palm, beets, etc. was quite good. Fresh and a good portion. A lemon — olive oil dressing and some salt would have made this perfect. Maybe even some avocado? – Complimentary bread was excellent! Overall: We’ll probably return, if just for the crab cakes and cozy atmosphere.

Great traditional pasta. Old school italian restaurant. Salads are amazing. Polenta and Artichoke appetizers are a must. Tomato sauce has the right consistency and taste. Have gone more than 20 times.

Decent pasta but nothing extraordinary. Menu was pretty standard, with nothing that stood out to me as particularly exciting or unique. Bread was cold and hard. Yes, I judge a restaurant by its bread, how hard is it to stick it in the oven for a few seconds? The ambiance is cute but be fore-warned that the clientele is on the more *ahem* mature side. The place also gets surprisingly crowded so you may want to come by earlier for dinner. We felt a little bit rushed out as well, so service was a tad sub-par. Wouldn’t go out of my way to come here!

This is my second visit to Due and I am an absolute fan of this place. Nice Neighborhood restaurant, not big or noisy, with outdoor seating and open front windows during the summer. I highly recommend this place for its food(which is outstanding), service(clean and professional), and the prices. I tried their OssoBuco Special entrée, which was a very large portion with a huge bone and the meat was so tender, it could be cut with a butter knife. The place has a traditional Rustic italian décor and sharp looking staff, who aim to please I might add. If at all it matters to anyone, the crowd ranges with a higher population of elderly customers, but with the weather change and the outdoor seating, much more young faces. Foods to Try: Mosaico Salad, Pollo Contadino, OssoBuco You wont leave hungry

The restaurant is classic Italian and has been around for years. It is consistent, good and doesn’t disappoint. The clientele does tend to be a bit older probably, because you can actually, hear the person at the table. The service is excellent and not rushed. We shared two appetizers and an entrée. Unlike many other restaurants in NYC, they happily, served them as courses and brought two plates. The restaurant graciously allowed us to sit at a table for four rather than a two-top so that we could sit next to each other. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Everything that I have ever eaten here has been wonderful. The Mozzarella Di Bufala was so milky that it melted in my mouth. The Guazzetto Toscana was absolutely delicious as was the chicken special with eggplant. Thank you for another lovely meal.

Tried this place out for dinner on a Monday and it was surprisingly pretty crowded at 7:15pm. It seems to cater more towards an older crowd, but that didn’t bother us. They gave us bread while we waited, though the crust was super hard(and I think we got a smaller loaf than the other tables… was this because we were younger customers?). I ordered the fettucine bolognese and my friend got the conchiglie. Both were pretty good, though I didn’t like the sausage used in my friend’s as much. The fettucine came with big chunks of meat and was pretty good. I could have probably finished in one meal but would have been stuffed so their portions are decent sizes. The waitstaff was good about keeping our water glasses filled, but towards the end I felt a bit rushed, like they were pushing us out(even though we saw an open table).

My family comes here at lunchtime on a Saturday or Sunday and it’s a beautiful thing. Always quiet. Staff excellent. Salads so fresh with amazing dressing. Pastas(and I’m told good other entrees) amazing. And great cheesecake dessert. Keep up the neighborhood Italian tradition!

I can think of few things as delightful as sitting outside at Due, with a stack of magazines, and ordering a glass of Gavi while waiting for the grilled cornish hen. This is the best self-imposed relaxation on a sunny afternoon. Due’s owner has gone to great trouble to provide an extensive wine list and a welcoming atmosphere. Cash only, but worth the trip to the ATM. Pastas are excellent, and many are unique(rollatini).

Wonderful ambience, good food and service, modest noise level, reasonable prices(for the upper east side). The patrons are an older crowd. You will not find many diners less than 40, perhaps because it has a very sedate traditional setting. Nothing trendy. If you want to dine and be able to have quiet conversation this is the place. Tables are a bit small.

First time here. The menu was fairly conventional so if you are looking for some edgy or creative takes on Italian look elsewhere. If you desire some very well prepared and fresh(as in ingredients) standard favorites you are in the right place. I was very pleasantly surprised. The mussel app. in a spicy tomato sauce was exceptional as was the eggplant parm. app. Unfortunately the white wines by the glass were mediocre… I could not drink mine. There is no wine list by the glass. The service was a bit lax but ok. ok so three stars or four. maybe 3.5 would work? Well we will have to settle on three
