I love Dudley’s for many reasons. Number one is its an Australian café and that makes it automatically cool. Second, their brunches are pretty trendy and instagrammable. And third, of course, it’s the delicious food(this should have been first reason actually). My favorite dish for brunch is Norwegian eggs. The sourdough of that dish is unbelievable! The smoked salmon is fresh, eggs cooked excellently, the salad completes this dish to the perfection. Oh, brunch skillet is pretty awesome too. And once you pair these dishes with their phenomenal latte then you get a pure satisfaction. I also love the location of this cute café. The crowd is cool and MOSTIMPORTANTLY, the waiting time for brunch on weekends is not 2798641 hours like every other trendy little café in that area. The only downside is it’s too small.

I really love this place. I have ridiculously annoying food allergies/intolerances — gluten and soy, fear of god style, not for funsies. This place has it all. Open late, pricey but worth it, and can accommodate me without making me feel like I have to «prove it.» Add to that the wonderful bartender who has introduced me on multiple occasions to fantastic cocktails that I never would have known existed. Great for dates, great alone, watch your head in the bathroom, and try anything you can.

Really poor service unfortunately. Unattentive and rude. Went for Sunday brunch and we were told we could wait for a table at the bar(this was in the heart of winter so we rang in advance). We get there and apparently they serve at the bar so we were left to stand outside in the freezing cold. Things didn’t improve once we got a table. They squeezed three people into a two person table, so there was barely any space for our food to arrive as well as drinks. They suggested we move the drinks to this bench right behind us — later, we went to get a drink and they had cleared our drinks from the bench. Food wasn’t great either. Not sure what the fuss is about — not going back.

Brunch was excellent: we had the rice bowl, the avocado toast and the pistachio bread + smoothies. Everything was delicious and super healthy. We sat outside in the sun, which was also really nice. So why not 5 stars? Because of the waiting time! It took us 45 min to get served(because there were too many people at the same time, not due to service!)

Three of us for 1 pm Saturday brunch outside, 10 minute wait in mediocre weather wasn’t too bad. But I was fairly hungover and not drinking. Enter my mocha espresso… and it was the best I’ve ever had – Let me repeat for effect: MOCHA… BEST… EVER! Do it. Chocolate was infused with some sort of heat and miraculously cured my Irish flu. My ladies ordered cocktails and loved ‘em. And as an aside,(and not that I was looking honey)… but the patrons of the restaurant and denizens of the hood are really, really ridiculously good looking! You’ve been pleasantly warned. Dudley’s and Ruby’s are the same Aussie owners, and I have been savoring their Bronte Burger for years. The juicy meat combined with their sweet chili sauce is magical – especially when paired with those perfect fries and garlic aioli. My ladies devoured their Shooms Benedict & Brunch Skillet like it was their last meal. Staff was professional and managed their crowded confines with skill & humor. Clearly a lot of care goes into the place; from the iron & brick industrial décor to the cramped-but-cool bathroom, my hat goes off to them.

We went for Sat brunch around 3pm and sat by the window counter. Service was good but a bit of a wait. I had the pancakes. It was crispy on the edges and thin with hazelnuts and bananas. I only had the middle part with bananas. I’m currently still recovering from a wisdom tooth surgery. My diet is limited to soft foods and liquids as it’s only been a week. Hub and my sis had the big breakie– eggs, baked beans, hash brown, bacon, mushrooms, roasted tomatoes, and toast. It was def not as impressive as the pancakes. It reminded us of a simple English breakfast. Though, I did had a few bites of the roasted tomatoes and mushrooms that was good. I also had the pineapple and mint shake that was ok. It was more like a pressed juice chopped with bits of mints. This is a nice, cozy spot with outdoor seating to grab a no frills and simple brunch. Staff were friendly. As it is a really small spot, I would not recommend large groups(unless you don’t mind waiting). They also have a side window for coffee and a take-out counter for rotisserie chicken and other items. I would return for only the pancakes if I’m in the area.

Dudley’s is one of my absolute favorite restaurants in NYC. It is a cute spot tucked away in the Lower East side on the corner of Orchard and Broome. I love everything about Dudley’s from the food to the ambiance. I have been a number of times for both dinner and brunch. Do know that it is a small space and is a popular spot, so there may be a wait– especially for weekend brunch. Onto the food… This place does avocado toast right. You have the option to add an egg– The last time I ordered it, the waiter even asked me how I wanted the egg prepared.(Sunny side up). The avocado toast is simple, yet delicious– not fussy.(I believe this is on the brunch menu– not dinner menu.) The Crispy rice salad is one of my favorite dishes ever.(This is on both the brunch and dinner menus). It is bowl of super crispy, crunchy rice along with pickled onions, watercress and a fried egg on top. I would probably eat this every day if I could. It’s amazing– Get it. For dinner, I usually order the chicken schnitzel as my entrée. It is a delicious piece of breaded thin chicken over a sweet corn purée of some sort. The salad that comes with this is so simple, but is such a tasty bibb lettuce salad. They also offer a rendition of this dish at brunch as well. If you like truffle and/or aioli, get the fries with truffled ailoi. It might be the best truffled aioli I have ever had. If you like to go to brunch on the weekends or are looking for a great spot for a small group(2 – 4 people) Dudley’s is a great option. I had brunch there just yesterday and writing this review makes me want to go back right now.

Bit of a long wait(close to 2 hours on a Friday night), but the food and drinks were so delicious. I dined with my boyfriend and a friend, and we ordered three mains and a side to split. The portion sizes are a bit on the smaller side but overall the prices are reasonable for NYC. We ordered the Pesto Pasta, Half Chicken, Mussels, and Brussels Sprouts. The brussels were cooked perfectly — crispy on the outside and well-seasoned. The pesto definitely tasted like it was freshly made and was loaded with a hearty topping of pine notes. Chicken fell right off the bone and was super juicy. Finally, the mussels were some of the best I’ve had; not chewy or rubbery at all and they weren’t baby mussels either! The menu does rotate from time to time but you can definitely tell that Dudley’s uses quality ingredients and places a lot of love in each plate. My only complaint is that the space is a little tight. We were seated at a table right next to the door with a curtain to help add some privacy — but other diners waiting would keep leaning on the curtain thinking that it was a wall… which got a bit annoying. Nonetheless, a very tasty and memorable meal, and would love to come back!

We ended up at Dudley’s for brunch at around 11am on a Saturday morning because there was a one-hour wait at Russ & Daughters. We were seated and served pretty quickly. I had a cappuccino and the Norwegian eggs while my friend had the Breakfast Skillet. I quite enjoyed my Norwegian eggs, which were a decent consolation prize for my missed Russ & Daughters brunch. It’s a large piece of toast topped with smoked salmon, Hollandaise sauce and two beautifully poached eggs, with a simple side salad of butter greens tossed in French vinaigrette. Capuccino was good too, particularly on this rainy Saturday morning. I scratched a star off just because of the very rigid no substitutions rule — my friend doesn’t eat meat and wanted to know if she could order the Big Breakfast with avocado instead of bacon, which is not entirely unreasonable in a city with a fair amount of vegetarians but it was a firm no on that. Having worked at a restaurant before, I know that substitutions can really mess up the flow of a busy spot, especially when slammed during weekend brunch. But I do think restaurants should make accommodations for certain dietary preferences, particularly on a slow morning.

I wanted to love this place because of all the good things I have heard but I just couldn’t. It was around 45 minutes wait for Saturday brunch. Three of us ordered two steak and egg and Norwegian Eggs. — 30 minutes later — The waiter came at our table told us that they did not have steak today… Yea… after 30 minutes we waited for our food. We got the Big Breakie and Bronte Burger instead. And an order of truffle fries. About another 20 minutes wait… Bronte Burger was very good, would suggest to try! Others are regular brunch dish. Truffle fries just tasted like regular fries.

I FINALLY got to try this place after waiting months, and I went twice in a week. No shame ^_^ The first time I went on a Friday around 1:00PM so the restaurant was packed but we luckily got to sit outside to enjoy a nice day, and a bonus was the excellent lighting for our Instagram photos. Prior to coming, I looked through all of the Unilocal photos as well as Instagram photos and was stuck between whether I should get the crispy rice salad or the chicken schnitzel and when it was time to order I chose the crispy rice salad, with chicken. I think you can specify what type of chicken you want because when I ordered it, my chicken was more of a fried/crispy chicken and when my friend ordered it the second day I went, it was grilled so be sure to ask your server about that if you have a preference. The dish is definitely something very different and unlike anything I’ve tasted before. It does have a sour taste to it, but I enjoyed it! I also felt like I was eating very healthy so that’s always a plus. The FRIES!!! You MUST get the fries when you come here, you can share this between two people and it should be enough along with your entrée. It is more on the salty side, but they are crispy and delicious but I think the best part is the sauce! It is so addicting(craving some right now.) The second time I went was on a Thursday around 12:30 and all the tables were taken inside but counter seats were available as well as outside seating, but it was too cold that day. This time I settled on getting the chicken schnitzel. It was pretty much a piece of crispy chicken with a unique sauce that had a kick of wasabi? which I am not a fan of wasabi, but the dish was still delicious and enjoyable! The dish comes with a side of salad and a poached egg. Ordered the fries again and they obviously did not disappoint. However, this time, the service was not too great. We got seated only a few seconds before the table next to us so our waitress asked both of us which water we wanted: tap or sparkling. My friend and I both said tap, while the table next to us asked for sparkling. We then received our water, but it was sparkling, which we both clearly did not say so we told our waitress and she replied«really?.. i’m pretty sure you asked for sparkling.» That was already a rude comment as a waitress because we know what we ordered and it was not sparkling. We then asked if we could get tap water because we both don’t like sparkling and it just wasn’t what we asked for, but she didn’t take it away and said she’ll see what she can do. Time passed, our thirst was building up and we still didn’t get our tap water. We gave up on her, because she didn’t seem like she wanted to deal with our water issue, so we asked another waiter and he switched it out for us with no problem at all. The waitress then saw that we got our tap water and said«oh he actually switched it for you?» uhm??? it SHOULD be switched since we did not ask for sparkling and just want some damn tap water! I also asked for a napkin THREE times before I actually got one. The service I received during my first visit was great, but the second time deserved 1 star. I’m hoping that was just a bad day with that waitress, but I will be back to try more of their dishes and get my fix of their addicting fries!

After hearing so many good things about this place, we came here to get some brunch. First of all, I think they need to hire one more waiter or waitress. We were told it would be about a ten minute wait, but I think we waited 20 minute. It took so long for them to clear a table. And when I saw that it was ready, it took more time for them to seat us. I would understand if it was busy, but that wasn’t the case. But putting that all aside, I got the infamous avocado toast. Everyone else got the brussel sprouts, truffle fries, and the pancakes. I fell INLOVE with the brussel sprouts and truffle fries. The brussel sprouts were vinegary and delicious. The fries are self-explanatory. But the avocado toast was subpar. It was super salty. I couldn’t eat all of it because it was so salty. I don’t think it was worth the hype. Definitely get the brussel sprouts and the fries though!

Been wanting to try this place and finally got the chance! My friend and I came on a Thursday and there wasn’t a line. We did have to wait for a table for 5 minutes but no biggie. I have heard great things about their fries so it was a no brainier I was gonna order that. For my main dish, I ordered the crispy rice salad and added a chicken. My friend ordered the schnitzel dish and I personally liked hers better than my dish. The sauce for my dish was more sour while my friends dish has a bit of an interesting taste — kinda reminds me of wasabi. If I come here again, I’ll be getting the schnitzel. And the fries. Can’t forget the fries. Service was weird for us when we went but I feel like it was just that day that the service was a bit meh. The waitress got our request for water wrong and when we told her about it, she didn’t change it but another waiter helped us change the water and took it off our bill. Just little things here and there but nothing that makes me think I won’t come back here. I’m sure the service was just meh that day. For the two salads and the fries, the total came out to be $ 51 including tip and tax. Not the cheapest lunch I can get but definitely worth trying and would come back again!

For my 300th review(!!!) I couldn’t be more thrilled that it is for Dudley’s! I had a great time grabbing some lunch here with family a couple of days ago. The weather was great so all the windows were open and it was really nice, felt like vacation. I loved the décor, the staff were really friendly and the menu was great. Lots of choice with a great variety of healthy things and treats. I went for the avocado smash and a side of brussels sprouts and quinoa. My fellow diners both went for the bronte burger. We had a great experience. My sprouts were delicious and a much larger portion size than I had expected. I really enjoyed the avocado smash, but the lemon was slightly overpowering and the dish was a bit oily. My family enjoyed their burgers and I tried some of the garlic aioli that came with it, it was crazy delicious. There were just so many great options on the menu, I could eat there again and again. It also has a perfect spot on the corner for people watching. I recommend you get down there and try it, it is a great find!

We were walking around the neighborhood and happened to stumble upon this gem of a place. It reminded me of restaurants in Paris. Seeing if we were lucky, we walked inside. They told us that they will have a table soon and to wait outside, as they will call us in when it was ready. The wait must have been like 10 minutes! SCORE! They do have outdoor seating, which is great when it gets warm outside. There is a bar area when you walk in and they really try to make the best out of the space they have, as there is not much seating. We were kind of squished into the corner, but I didn’t mind. They also have a long table downstairs for big parties of people(there was a big party of people down there). The bathroom is downstairs and it is only 1 stall for both women and men. I wish they would improve in that area, as we all know that some women take a long time in the bathroom doing god knows what. Since the bathroom is behind the stairwell, be careful of the stairwell outline in the bathroom. You can bump your head, which is what happened to my friend. They do have some cushioning for the outline. The décor and the ambiance place is modern and trendy. For drinks, me and my friend ordered a latte and my other friend ordered a cappuccino. When the drinks came, the lattes were in a glass instead of a coffee cup. I guess they ran out of those cups? My friend said her cappuccino was too strong and I also felt like the latte was too strong, as well. However, if you love it strong, great. If you don’t, they do have some sugar/sweeteners on the table. For food, I ordered the Wild Shroom Benedict(I love me some mushrooms!) and my other two friends ordered the Poached Norwegian Eggs. When they came, they looked so good!(Although one of my friend’s plate looked like it missed some salad, since there was an empty space on the plate) They tasted so goood! Even the salad was on point. Strongly recommend trying either one of them! There was a struggle of putting all these items on the table, as I think the table was for 2 people. I had to hold my utensils and napkin on my lap, but I didn’t mind since the food was amazeballs. Will definitely come back and service was great! If the wait is too long at any brunch place, check this place out! Although this place seems to be popular and can get crowded, people move relatively fast in and out! However, I wouldn’t recommend this place to large groups. The max of two other people, I would say is best. However, this seriously has to be one of the best brunch places I have been so far.

Food is excellent, flavors aren’t extremely overpowering or too salty, but just right. I would highly recommend this place and the service is exceptional. We got lucky because it was a 45 minute wait, but we got in immediately.

Came here today around 2pm and it wasn’t that packed(probably due to the freezing NY weather). It is kind of out of the way but not too far from the F on Delancey and a few more blocks further from the D on Grand St. Was with a party of 3 and our waiter was extremely nice. There’s not too many items on the menu to choose from, but there are enough categories to get what you’re feeling for(breakfast, salads, and sandwiches). I had looked at all the Unilocal photos beforehand and decided to order the famous avocado toast with a sunny side fried egg(extra $ 3) topped with some tomatoes. I didn’t expect the meal to be filling, but was surprised at how large the toast turned out to be. There is definitely something different in this avocado toast from the others I’ve tried at numerous cafes; the previous ones were too dry or lacked any special flavor. This, however, was just about salty enough, smoothly covered with avocado, and I guess the fried egg added an extra«spark» to it. My friends ordered burgers accompanied with some fries. I tried the fries with the sauce that comes with them and it was so good. I couldn’t figure out the exact taste to describe the fries, but it was a mix of sweet and salty. Didn’t give this place a 5 because I haven’t tried anything else on the menu but enjoyed my first time here. Would definitely come back next time for brunch.

Great service, cute and cozy place! My friend and I snagged two seats at the bar. He ordered a side of fries and I had the granola with Greek yogurt and it was surprisingly full of very tasty nuts and granola that I was not expecting to be that good! Definitely want to come back to try out the avocado toast!

Any fan of the popular Nolita spot, Ruby’s, will likely enjoy the offerings of this sister restaurant located in the Lower East Side. Australian bistro/cafes have been trending all over Manhattan, and the fad is spreading South. The food is good, if not memorable, with an unavoidable best seller in the avocado toast with a fried egg on top. The chicken schnitzel salad is worth trying as a heartier alternative on a chilly Sunday morning/afternoon. After all, if you have the patience to wait in the cold for an hour to get a table, you might as well get a full meal to reward your perseverance. At the end of the day, the dish you might enjoy most would be a plate of them crispy fries! As far as the experience goes, I can only say that my own will be forever marred by the excessively long wait time coupled with the torture of being drowned out by the unpleasantly loud cackling of four American hipster females. All of them appeared to have inspired one another’s fashion by each sporting a variation of the overplayed, cropped, black, faux-leather moto-jacket.

Food was really great, but I think service could have been better. The tables are super close together to the point that there’s no reason to leave the five inch gap between each table since it feels like we’re all dining together. The pesto rice bowl was amazing, I had never tried anything like it before. poached egg was a nice touch. Would highly recommend trying that one out. The classic burger, which was supposed to come with pickles, did not come with pickles. We asked for no bun, but it came with a bun. When we asked for the pickles, the wait staff said they’d get them for us. We waited a bit before asking again — to which we were told that they were out of pickles. No-one had come back to tell us that, so it was a bit frustrating to having to keep getting the waitstaff’s attention. The rose sangria drink was fabulous — lighter than your standard sangria so it was perfect for a lunch drink. A downside was the service again; one of the waiters took the drink away without even asking. There was about a third of the drink left in the glass… … All in all, a solid lunch option. Really cute atmosphere and a big bar. But I do think the service has to improve.
