With drybar, your experience depends on who you see. I am a black woman and the person who blew me out was black; but clearly not experienced blowing out black hair. The blowout was shockingly bad. Typically, I go to Angie at the drybar in TriBeCa, but this is in my building. The dryer was too hot, she kept burning me, caused split ends, yanked a comb though my hair in the bowl (no one does that, the stylists detangle conditioned hair at the chair immediately prior to blowing it out). Additionally, I was one week post relaxer so this should have gone smoothly. I would hate to see her at week 10. It was such a complete mess, I would never go back. I wish had been impolite enough to walk out and save my hair the stress.

I’ve never been to Dry Bar and stopped in to buy a gift card for a friend’s birthday. The first employee I spoke with handed me a stack of cardboard cut-​outs with little phrases on them telling me I could pick from one and walked away. I asked the second employee the price of a blowout and was given a really indirect answer. This further confused me when she told me my total for 2 blowouts was over $ 90 (more than twice the price she provided me with), to which I figured out she was also charging the price of tax in addition to the cost of the blowouts. I left with the gift card in hand and it wasn’t until I got home that I realized she didn’t even give me a receipt for my purchase!
For the future, it would be helpful to kindly break down this information to a new customer who is dropping almost $ 100 on a service for someone else. You never know, I could have be converted to a client…

Glad there’s a location in this area. I ended up going for a blow dry during their grand opening. Loved the cupcakes! And customers got a free goody bag with products! My stylist was great. I told her I needed my Mai tai to last for a couple of days so she suggested a tight Mai tai. And it lasted 4 days!

AMAZING PEOPLE! I was in the Brookfield Place mall with family from out of town, and the staff here made my sister’s day. She wandered in because it was such a nice place, ended up having something done, and they went above and beyond taking care of her. Despite a 2 day vacation in the city seeing different things, they made a trip to the salon the highlight of her trip. I seldom write reviews, and had to actually add this location to Unilocal to be able to write this one, but the people at this location absolutely deserve to be reviewed on here. Exceptional service, genuinely nice people and an awesome result. Highly, highly recommend this place and the people working here.
