Omg. This place is by far THEBESTPLACETOEATINTHISNEIGHBORHOOD. It’s also the best Mexican/Spanish food you can find in this area. I just found this place today and let me tell you… THEFOODHEREISINCREDIBLYDELICIOUS. This is the closes any place can come to making GREAT Mexican food in this location. I ordered my version of a pollo asado quesadilla(which you can add or eliminate whatever you want: — I had yellow rice, black beans, cheese, Guac. and chicken: mind you, only the cheese and the chicken go in that order). EVERY single item I had in my quesadilla was perfect(which surprised me because a lot of Mexican spots around Wall Street doesn’t serve great Guac. And the rice and beans are a hit or miss in most places). The price was alittle up there(around $ 9.00) but dammit! ITWASTOTALLYWORTHIT!. The employee staff was very friendly & funny. This is now my new favorite spot. Chipotle and every other Mexican/Spanish restaurant needs to be very afraid because this place is gonna blow them all outta the water with their delicious dishes. I advise EVERY1 to try this place at least once and judge for yourselves YOUWILLNOTBEDISAPPOINTED!

Good burritos and without the e coli poisoning, lol. Sorry Chipotle but I had to. I have been to the midtown and downtown locations and both of them are great

I’m a huge fan of Mexican cuisine but what I noticed was, some of these places in the city tend to be so busy, they lack in overall quality. The chicken quesadilla was great but the cheese turned plastic in like 2 mins.

Similar to Chipotle except for the fact that Dos Toros is better in almost every way. Better tortillas, tastier meat, and friendlier employees. Place gets pretty busy during lunch hours but line moves quickly.

The fidi location has become my go-to local mex spot. Good food, decent prices, and the staff is always game to take the additional step to make you happy. I would definitely recommend.

I really like Dos Toros. Their tacos and burritos are all great, with delicious flavor and good variety. Even though there’s a chipotle across the street, I feel Dos Toros really holds their own. Their flavors are uniquely different to Chipotle’s, and it is nice to have another option for this type of Mexican food in the neighborhood. Definitely give it a try if you can — it’s worth it!

Edit: Kudos to this place for staying open and having such friendly service during a blizzard! I went to try this place on a Sunday. I was wondering why Does Toros was empty while a different burrito place across the street was quite busy. Turns out this one was completely out of lettuce and black beans. The burrito I had was still pretty good without these things, but I really hope this location can keep their ingredients stocked. I was impressed with the hot salsa here — it is actually very spicy which I liked.

I first tried Dos Toros a couple of years ago when I first heard about their location at Union Square. So when a Groupon deal came about($ 10 for a $ 25 gift card) I took it up. I’ve tried this place twice and its pretty good. I’ve tried the tacos(beef & chicken) and the chicken quesadilla. The service is fast and the food is fresh and tasty. Finally, we have a real alternative to Chipotle. However, Dos Toros gets a star deduction for the price of their tacos. $ 5 for ONE small taco is ridiculous.

They are taking authentic Mexican food chain store to the next level. Great atmosphere, cool modern decoration with Mexican elements. I can also feel that the staff is very proud of the brand. Very good quality of meat, sauce, veggies and brilliantly added piece of cheese — my perfect Saturday late noon bite burrito. Honestly, for same price, I’ll def go to Dos Toros Taqueria

Tasty place to grab a quick bite in FiDi. We don’t have a ton of places down here, so it’s nice to see a few new places to choose from. The set-up is similar to Chipotle where you choose what you want(burrito, taco, bowl) and then choose what goes on it. It’s a bit cheaper and a lot tastier than Chipotle. The line is usually long at lunch time but they move it fast. I got the carnitas bowl and it was flavorful and huge! Definitely had enough for leftovers. All in all a good place to stop for lunch.

Finally went to check this place out. Same game plan as their better-known competitor whose name rhymes with frito-lay. Pluses: their steak is not hard near-beef jerkey like cubes, option to add guac to your food for $ 1 vs. $ 3 as a side(vs. the no-arbitrage pricing at the other place), line moves quickly, and they offer hard taco«bits» that can be added for some extra crunch. The negs: rice is flavorless yellow and dry, you have to pick your hot sauce and let them put it on(vs. letting you pick your own when done), and the room(at least this particular location) is super smoky and so even if you get takeout, you come out with that smoky aroma. Overall, I didn’t find it that much more compelling than frito-lay. I guess when frito-lay gets over their problem with rhymes with«I’m not gonna lie», I’ll probably go back.

Dropped by the evening portion of their grand opening for a $ 1 carne asada salad, the skimpiest portions yet, with a bad explanation for plato vs salad, and all of the assemblynot understanding ‘carne asada’ as steak despite the menu listing it as such. That said, a nice space offering a better alternative to Chipotle.

Opened on November 17th, 2015. The line splits off so the check out is faster than one would expect. –The orange sauce in tangy and sweet. Definitely its signature sauce. I ordered braised pork which was bland without the sauce. –Guacamole for $ 1 is a steal. –The corn kernels are harder and less sweet than Chipotle’s. I’m indifferent between Chipotle and Dos Toros. I like Fields Good Chicken next door over both.

Definitely worth $ 12 for a steak burrito with guacamole, considering how gigantic AND delicious it was. The beans are good, the rice is good, the salsas are great, the cheese is good, and the steak is GREAT. I wish they offered cilantro & cotija cheese for more Mexican flavor, but it’s still pretty damn satisfying, and way better than Shi-potlé(located directly across the street)… Also, they sell cans of Tecate for $ 3!!!

Personally I like Dos Toros over the other popular national chain burrito place. I like the meat better at Dos Toros. I also think the food at the chain burrito place way too salty. I like the seasoning at Dos Toros better. It’s definitely not as salty at Dos Toros. It’s an assembly line for your meal. You start at one end of the line and as your burrito moves down the line, it gets more fillings. I opted for a mix of the pork and steak burrito with guacamole. I told them no dairy so I didn’t get any cheese with my burrito. I am just not into cheese on rice and besides, I’m lactose intolerant. If you are okay with cheese, not only do they melt cheese into your tortilla, they also put more cheese in at the end of the assembly line if you want more… looking at the bin of cheese made me cringe! That is a lot of cheese. I love how big the burrito is at Dos Toros. I usually save half of it for the next day or share my burrito with my BF but I have seen people eat the whole thing, dang! I know I do not eat it properly, you’re supposed to peel the aluminum foil on one end and hold the burrito while eating it from one end to the other. Sorry Dos Toros, I like eat my burritos with a knife and fork, I like dissecting it! Then again I eat burgers with knife and fork and potato chips with chopsticks, doesn’t everyone?! Try Dos Toros, it’s pretty yummy! I would come back… actually, I have. I have tried it at the West Village and Union Square location already.

I’m always skeptical of new, «better» versions of Chipotle(especially since I don’t even like Chipotle itself), but I’m a total fan of this place! Lined up for their Grand Opening lunch today(everything for a $ 1)! Although the line was long, this place opened right on time and everything moved super quickly. Love efficiency and this place definitely knows what it’s doing. I tried one of their platos with half carnitas and half pollo asado. DELICIOUS. This is definitely some of the freshest fast-casual I’ve ever had. Definitely beats out Chipotle and even Fields Good Chicken next door in my opinion. Also love how for one of the toppings they have mashed up chips, which add a great crunch to the plato. Super friendly service too!

What a great new addition to Fidi! I ordered a carnitas quesadilla and it is absolutely delicious, so delicious that I am writing this review as I am eating it. I can’t get over how crunchy and flavorful the tortilla is, how juicy and tender the carnitas is, and how just right the medium spicy salsa is. The service here is super efficient! I came during grand opening, and the line literally stretched three stores worth of distance, but I was out with the food in less than 10 minutes. The workers here are super friendly. Just all around great experience!

My burrito was delicious. I guess that’s all I need to write… Joking. I’m a Unilocal Elite… The atmosphere was so enlightening, the staff was pleasant, and the people standing in line were actually pretty nice and happy! The crowd was raving about the food when they walked out. I approach the lines(2 different assembly lines); I loved the energy. I walked up to the lady greeting in the front and she was clearly the manager. We were just chatting away about Unilocal not having a check in for me, so I created one. I didn’t know how to do it, but I «think» I made it happen. I wanted to check in really bad. I waited about 35 mins in line for my 1.00 burrito(YES my friends they were giving away other things for a dollar… tacos, burritos, quesadillas). They were really prepared for the grand opening which was perfect. I know they have many locations, but I’ve only been to the Union Square one recently and had the same AMAZING service. Overall I’m a happy camper. Enjoy. Happy Taco Tuesday you all…

Dos Toros Taqueria NY Manhattan FiDi 11:30am Tuesday 11th November 2015 Five Stars Here is a first legitimate review of this place. It’s Opening Day at Dos Toros and in honor of this momentous occasion, they are selling $ 1 Burritos, Quesadillas, etc. On this chilly November morning, you could smell the delicious smoke billowing out of the vents. The line extended down the block but seemed to move quite quickly. I am was in the building within 10 minutes and ordering by 15. They had two food lines to expedite the process. They melt a slice of cheese into your steamed tortilla. You get a choice of black or pinto beans but I always opt for both. The seasoned spanish rice was mildly flavored but cooked well. They have peppers & onions and corn. Then the choice of meat: chicken, pork, and beef. I did a combo of Pollo Asado and Carne Asada. The meat is cut into smaller chunks. Next you get a choice of sauces ranging in spiciness. I had to try to super hot which delivered. My mouth was pretty warm by the end. They also have pico de gallo(tomatoes were a bit mealy), cheese, sour cream, and guacamole(extra $ but not today). The total cost was $ 1. The service was spot on. They were fully staffed, friendly, and most importantly efficient. With Chipotle across the street, Dos Toros will do just fine if they keep up the customer service and high quality food. As for the chipotle comparison. It has more flavor than chipotle especially on the spice scale. I also liked the steamed tortilla with melted cheese. Everything else including the price point is very similar. However, Chipotle definitely has better meat and hot salsa.

Just like chipolote and field good chicken except tastier. The flavor is more authentic. The workers are also proud of the brand. Which makes the experience better. I wonder who will stay open longer? Actually, the question should be which will close first. chipolote, field goods chicken or dos toro. I hope all can endure. I don’t wish any ill will. But seriously do we need 3 rice bowl Latin-like buritto store next door to each other? Dos Toros(2 bulls) came to eat someone’s lunch. Chipolote, Field Good… get you act together cause both your guacamoles are grossly over priced. And I’ll run to Dos Toros before any of the other.
