What a lovely surprise to find in my veggie Plato. Finding a piece of meat is unacceptable when I make my order vegan for a reason. This isn’t the first time I’ve had issues with Dos Toros messing up a simple order. Hopefully nobody else is being mislead into thinking they’re getting something which meets their dietary restrictions while getting the complete opposite. In NYC for a long weekend trip, meeting up with a friend tomorrow but today I spent time by myself in New York. I wanted something filling and delicious, but I did not want to go sit down at an eat in restaurant as I was enjoying my time exploring. I decided to stop in to Dos Toros. I am a lover of all Latin food, authentic or otherwise. I make it a mission to scope out great burritos and tacos everywhere I go. First off, the customer service at this location was phenomenal. The employees were very kind, upbeat, and friendly individuals. Right off the bat I knew it was going to be a pleasant visit. I had asked if the burritos were grilled after they were made and was told that they generally are not, however, they did that for me which was great. Not a ton of topping options, but sometimes you do not want to over-complicate things. I got the chicken burrito and it was delicious. The wrap was first steamed with cheese on it, creating a melted cheese gooey-deliciousness. I also topped it off with a cheap $ 2.74 beer, so I can’t complain. There was seating while I was there, so I grabbed a two person table for myself, but it is not a very big place and it began to fill up as I was eating. I noticed a gentleman looking around for a seat, so I invited him to sit across from me at my table. Two strangers enjoying a meal in peace! I would definitely recommend popping into Dos Toros! I will be back!

Great food! It was quick, tasty and fresh. I had the quesadilla and the tacos here and both were plentiful. The options are just right, not too many and not too few. I loved the habanero sauce that you can add to any dish. I loved it so much so that I bought a bottle to keep at home as well. This definitely hit my mexican craving that I was having.

By far the worst taco I’ve had in NYC. The chicken was charred and mostly fat, corn straight out of a can, and when the server accidentally added sour cream I didn’t want to my taco instead of starting over she simply scrapped it off and back into the vat of sour cream for the next customer’s order.

I bought a 10.79 plato pollo(chicken) with guac(1c) and(medium) hot sauce(which is not«hot» for me) for lunch with my kid: totally not worth the price compared to its portion, the chicken is good tho. But i prefer buy on the halal food truck for a chicken over rice.

Love that this stretch of park south is perking up. And welcome dos toros. The more organic more wholesome more homemade more environmentally friendly chipotle. Guac is 92c. I love this place. Usually I go for the basic taco with guac as ye olde afternoon snack. This thing will get you to dinner. They melt cheese on the soft taco before stuffing. Same for the Burrito. It’s there signature. But don’t fret, they can skip that if you want. Peppers and onions are fresh and wholesome. Corn is freshly roasted. Need I say more? Get thee over here. Xxx

I just had the Carne Asada Plato from Dos Toros today. I saw a lot of review comparing this place with Chipotle and I do see some resemblance. While they both serve the same type of food and the portion size is similar. The steak is marinated differently. The tomato salsa lack the acidity from the lemon in compare to Chipotle. Personally, I prefer chipotle but the food is still good. The reason why I gave this place two stars only was because I was a little disturbed by the cleanliness of the restaurant. While I was ordering food, one of the staff was cleaning the edges of where they put the container to scoop food for customers(like subways or chipotle). They mopped the edge with a dirty rag and some of the food that were on the edge fell down to the container where food is still being scooped out for customers. Essentially, some of the customers will be eating food that was on the edges and touched by the dirty rag. That’s just a bit disturbing for me to watch. I know I shouldn’t expect«clean» food if I eat outside but I never expect to see this in person.

Just finished eating here for lunch. Had to write this on a fresh experience because the food was really good. I can’t describe how satisfied I am after my meal and how awesome it is to finally have delicious«quick Mexican cuisine». A really good change of pace from«the chain». The service is quick and friendly. The food is of good quality. Everything about my lunch was enjoyable — I ordered the pollo asado burrito and my friend ordered the carnitas salad bowl. She is a regular here and I think she just got me hooked. The next time I have a burrito craving at work, I’ll be coming back here for sure.

I come here often and usually get the carnitas burrito. I went in here a few days ago and a few bites into the burrito, it smelled funny and the meat didn’t taste right. Don’t know if it was the recent batch of meat or what but I couldn’t finish it and felt pretty off.

Great alternative to Chipotle if you ever want to switch it up. Although similar, they definitely both have its own tastes so I don’t think I could pick one from the other. The marinated meat and the three different sauces makes the difference between the two, and I especially like how they melt the cheese on top of the tortilla before adding the fixings, and can add more cheese if you like as a fixing. My burrito was filled to the max and didn’t explode out of the tortilla which is always a plus. My only one(and personal preference) downside is that they do not have corn as an option.

I frequent this Dos Toros because it is close-by to my school and it provides a quick remedy after classes and it is right by the train station. I’ve been here numerous time before and didn’t have any problems. But the last time I came here, there was a slight miscommunication. All is forgiven because new trainees were working and they were just getting the hang of things. I personally think Dos Toros is way better than Chipotle mainly because of its true San Francisco authentic Mexican burritos. I usually settle for the carne asada burrito as the steak is extremely tender and I like to get mine with the hottest sauce to complement the taste. I also like how they put the cheese on the wrap and then they dump it on the grill so it melts with the wrap every bite you take. The chips and quac on the other hand were a bit on the oily side. The chips were also a bit on the salty side. Maybe go a little easier on the salt? But overall, I loved it. The guac was great. Would I be back again? Sure.

Dos Toros is not the«best» Mexican food I have ever had. But it IS a pretty damned solid mission-style burrito, reliably executed, by nice people, quickly, for a reasonable price. They have never once committed the mortal sin of ruining my lunch break by making me wait in line for 20 min. Even on the worst hour, the most intense day, they are fast and good. A+ lunch spot. Chipotle always manages to pull rookie moves like overstuffing a burrito, or serving meat that’s too«wet» and causes burrito blowouts. I have NONE of those problems here. It’s a burrito place. Don’t get the tacos, they don’t look that good. Just get a burrito and get out. I’m probably behind you in line.

Redeemed part of a no-more-LevelUp gift card for a really bland carnitas taco after a painful ordering experience without a single other soul there: «1 Carnitas taco, please» «Yes, we have carnitas» «OK, 1 taco please» «OK, 1 or 2 tacos?» «One…please…» :taco is slowly prepared:

Needed a quick bite before I got home and saw this on my way to the train. As much as I want to give this place one star, I have to give it two since the food was actually decent. Pet peeves 1. All the workers were taking up space and sitting in the seats that could have gone to patrons who actually had to leave since there was no place to sit. That patron was me. 2. After failure to search for a seat, I asked the register to take it to go. Instead of saying ok, giving me a lid for my food and a to go bag, she tells me to sit in the back. The same back where she realized all her colleagues were sitting. Why can’t you just give me a lid and pack it up? Another worker saw it and covered it for me immediately but I had to put it in a bag myself. 3. No corn salsa. Weak. Doesn’t have cilantro rice like chipotle but it was good.

Confession: I came here for the first time on the day of their opening because they were doing $ 1 burritos. And it was so worth it. I’ve come back to Dos Toros(not just this location) a couple of times now and I’ve been very pleased with it. As a Californian, I’ve had a very disappointing time of finding Mexican food in NYC, and this is the first place that I’ve been to that makes me feel like I’m eating something that deserves to be called Mexican food. The meat is very flavorful, and all the ingredients seem very fresh. A word of warning — their hot sauce is INCREDIBLY spicy. I suggest getting the medium sauce rather than the hot, unless you’re a huge fan of spice. This location is pretty limited seating-wise, so just be aware of that. Otherwise, top notch.

All hail the newest member of the Dos Toros family! This location opened today(1÷13÷15) with the tantalizing promise of $ 1 burritos. Already a DTF(Dos Toros fan… what did you think?), I hopped on the DT(downtown!) 6 train and headed to check it out. This was the most orderly first day lunch rush I’ve ever seen — the line moved quickly, the staff was so excited about their big day, and owner/founder/uno toro Oliver was at the helm showing off their special burrito folding technique. The food was great, as it is at the rest of the locations. I opted for a carne asada(steak) burrito, with pinto beans and all the toppings, with the smoky sauce. Hit the spot, and was the perfect amount. If you haven’t had a burrito here before, they’re worth checking out because they spread all the ingredients in a line… gone are the one bite of rice, one bite of guac, one bite of meat days!

Grand Opening today 1÷13÷15. Lines were out the door and around the block. They honored their offer of $ 1 burritos for opening day, limit 1 per customer. It’s like they know their food is crack and this is their way of hooking everyone to come back daily. I ordered the Carnitas(Raised Pork) burrito: $ 8.96. The pork was moist and not over cooked and the toppings worked well with the whole burrito. The yellow rice paired with black beans and sour cream. Add the guac for .92 cents. Their hotsauce is amazingly hot too! I suggest getting this on the side, the Habanero Sauce is Super Duper Hot! My co workers and I were all huffing and hissing after we had some. The restaurant is small but the army of staff behind the counter were all working fast and all had a smile on their faces. I’m hooked, This may be my replacement for Chipotle.

Grand Opening today! I can’t believe they are now down the block from me. No more running down to Union Square for their tacos and burritos. Their burritos are delicious.
