Whenever I’m in the area I have to stop by for a burrito. It’s a small location, only a few places to sit, so it’s more of a ‘pay and go’ kind of joint. I read on reviews it was like an upscale Chipotle and they were right. It’s definitely good in my book!

Think of this place as Chipotle but with a bit of a hipster twist. I have had the salad with all three meat choices(pork, chicken, steak). All are good. The hot sauce is fantastic and very spicey. I grab take-out for work and the food is consistently good and under $ 11.

Can’t think of a better place to get a burrito. Getting the non important out of the way the staff is incredibly friendly, place is very clean but seating is limited. Now the burrito itself puts chipotle to shame. It’s a modern commercial style in the sense you get to pick your own meat, beans, toppings, salsas, etc. If your deciding between chipotle or Dos Torros, rest assured Dos Torres will deliver for those who can tell between authentic and an imposter

This is one place that my wife and sister were raving about because my sister was going to deliver my niece at Lennox Hill hospital soon so I had a bite of a leftover and cold chicken quesadilla and i said…“daamn that’s good chicken!” And I knew I had to go in and order myself. Upon entering it gives you a «Chipotle feel» but a little more intimate. the selections are similar(Burrito, tacos, salad bowls etc.) but if your not a big beans and rice person(like me) but want more meat and cheese? Go Quesadilla! The meats are served warm(hot even!) unlike Chipotle’s cold and dry meats they plop into your food. Nice selection of add ons and sauces they will explain all the choices too which was cool my first time. Guacamole was above average and very fresh. The chips are a bit too salty if your trying to avoid heavy salt intake but wash it down with a beer or Jarrito(delicious Mexican flavored soda) and you’ll be coming back for more! Customer for life!

The food was great. It’s very similar to chipotle, but the food is of better quality. The price is very reasonable and there are plenty of chairs and tables to go around. Guac is free for 1st timers.

The burritos here are solid. The owners’ stated mission is to produce Bay Area style Mexican. Having lived in the Bay Area for about five years and eaten many, many burritos, I can say that the burritos are pretty comparable to those at decent neighborhood taquerias in both SF and Oakland. The burritos are definitely not on the level El Farolito/Papalote/Cancun/Little Chihuahua(top-notch spots in the Bay), but you gotta give these dudes propers for producing pretty consistent and tasty Bay Area burritos in NYC. I say go for a carnitas burrito with rice, pinto beans, pico, guac, maybe some onions and peppers, both the smokey and the verde salsas, and then ask if they’ll throw it on the grill for you for a couple minutes. If you aren’t satisfied by the product, then we can’t be friends. Their guac is outstanding btw. Also, why does everyone have to mention Chipotle in their reviews? That place is garbage and they can’t even craft tacos/burritos(food meant to be eaten with your hands) that can actually be eaten with your hands. Chipotle’s burritos are goddamn spheres of food that leak copious amounts of liquid and fall apart with the merest poke or prod. Shameful.

Great alternative to Chipotle! Quality ingredients and your typical selections for a fast food Mexican place: Burritos, Platos, Tacos etc. Not a ton of seating but people tend to eat quickly and move on.

PLEASESTOPBURNINGYOURMEAT!!! Let me start this by saying that I really like Dos Toros. I don’t care about the whole Dos Toros vs. Chipotle thing… they are both good, but obviously not something you can compare to authentic Mexican food restaurant. But I really just can’t get past the fact that you burn your meats on purpose. It’s soooo bad for you – so many studies prove that anything burnt is carcinogenic… it’s become a huge turn off to be honest. I tried to get a bowl with no meat and it’s just not the same. Mr. or Mrs. Dos Toros– if you’re out there and reading this, know you might lose a loyal customer if you don’t stop :( Other than that, I would give this place a 5 out of 5… but I just can’t because of the health concerns of burnt meat.

Compared to Chipotle, the price point is similar but the portion size is smaller. Here’s a breakdown of the comparison: PROS: — Lighter seasoning: the steak is less salty, the chicken is not spicy — the natural flavor of the meat comes through better. I avoid the steak at Chipotle because it leaves me loaded with sodium. CONS: — Small portion size: it’s satisfying but not too filling, whereas I always have leftover for the next meal from Chipotle. — No corns. :(The roasted sweet corns at Chipotle are definitely missed!

Beyond disappointed. Ordered a chicken bowl with salsa chicken extra steak lettuce and guacamole. When food was delivered it was barley anything and a total mess(see picture). Didn’t have any guac steak lettuce hot sauce or tomatoes. Basically half of what I ordered. Usually I love this place. But this was just atrocious.

Tip: Stick with the bowl/salad over the tacos/burritos This place is basically a scaled down chipotle. This location is rather tight, so not the best for dining in, but good for grabbing a quick lunch to go. I like the carnitas bowl with the chipotle sauce and the chicken bowl with the verde. The staff is usually pretty nice and the food seems fresh. A little overpriced, but I’d recommend it if you’re looking to quickly grab a quick lunch in the area.

I used to frequent the Carmine St. location when I lived downtown, and now that I live uptown, this is my local spot. I’m here usually once a week to grab a dinner burrito, and they’re consistently fantastic. My personal favorite protein is the grilled chicken, as I find the steak to be too chewy. However, the carnitas is strong too. I also love the guacamole and smoky salsa for my accoutrements, as well as the homemade salted tortilla chips. The line is longest after the uptown 6 drops off, so here’s a pro-tip if you’re one of the passengers: bypass the standard turnstile in favor of the emergency exit door, and squeeze up the left side of the staircase in order to get a jump! But if you’re more patient and less(borderline?) rude than me, don’t worry. The line moves pretty fast.

I ordered food here on national taco day and they ran out of tacos. When they finally called me an hour after placing my order to tell me they were out of tacos and replaced with quesadillas and sent it out without checking with me first to see if that was OK. Then when they finally showed up and hour after. That’s a total of 2hrs after arose ring. The quesadillas were just greasy meat in wraps. No lettuce cheese or tomato. Because of them I had pizza on national taco day.

Come in for lunch. For a veggie bowl, the menu says $ 7.35. U don’t get free guacamole like chipotle if u order a veggie bowl. My receipt says $ 8. No where on the receipt does it mention tax. I spoke with the manager and she said tax included. Put it on the receipt or put it on the menu. False advertisement and I won’t be back. I will stick with chipotle.

Glad I didn’t check their reviews before going in. We ordered quesadilla and though it looked more like a burrito, we both loved it! The tortilla was crispy and delicious!

I give Dis Toros: Food 2 stars, it is very blend and only one choice of rice. Service 1star, The staff is not friendly, if you change your mind they act like it is the end of the world and that you are annoying them. Stick to Chipotle, it is much, much better.

This is a review for catering only. This is basically chipotle. The food itself probably was slightly worse(dry meat, unremarkable beans, plain rice) but the salsas were much better. The guacamole here was much better than any ice had at chipotle. The habenero salsa has no equivalent at other similar chains and is great if you want a fairly strong habanero flavor and a lot of heat. The red and green salsas were also good. So while the food was slightly worse the salsas were much better and that’s what really makes you want to eat Mexican anyways right? Also since this was catered maybe the meat and rice had just been out too long? I definitely want to give a real location(it’s s chain) a try.

Came here last night to their new midtown location where they were offering $ 1 burritos, platos, etc. Got a carne asada plato to go. The service was great, despite the super long lines. And, they were VERY efficient at maintaining order the whole time, and even had 2 separate lines going to move things along. However, the food was bland. They have 3 sauces you can add, smokey, mild, and spicy. I got the green mild sauce. There was no pop in the dish. The steak had a nice char flavor, but there were some chunks of fat in mine. I couldn’t help but compare it to chipotle, and it just didn’t have the yum factor – I think it was due to their bland rice. Maybe it was an off night. Maybe it had to do with the crowds, and that fact it was their first night opened, but very unimpressed.

It’s a little pricey here, but the tacos we got were delicious. I really liked how they melted the cheese onto the corn tortilla before they stuffed it with meat, etc. Get the habanero sauce if you can handle the heat.
