This is a little hidden gem! You’d never find it unless you’re looking for it. Tucked away on 62nd street, Dopo East is an elegant little Italian restaurant. They serve somewhat traditional italian fare, and the staff is all very attentive. There is a garden out back to dine outside when it’s nice. We opted to do this on a chillier evening in the summer and we were the only patrons outside, but it was still a great meal and the waitstaff never forgot about us.

Our second visit to this lovely restaurant was excellent on every level(as was the first). The food was perfect in every way. We started with the octopus appetizer, served over baby spinach with fingerling potatoes. So tender and delicious– out of this world. The ravioli with a light black truffle cream sauce was our second course. Perfect and so flavorful. Our main course was branzino– melt in your mouth delicious. Great service, nice wines. Atmosphere is cozy and romantic. Lovely dining room with nice artwork. They have a glass roofed garden area, which was open the first time we dined here– today it was hot and humid, and the roof was closed so it was air-conditioned garden seating. Highly recommend!

This is a cool Italian little spot. This place came recommended by the hotel I was staying at as the best most traditional Italian food in NY. I did not find it at all traditional Italian. But thought it was just OK. I think I was expecting too much. The ambiance was very quite and romantic so that is always a plus. Also, they have a beautiful garden thing location quasi outdoor seating. If not for the wait staff and ambiance, this place would have received 3 stars. Overall I’m a fan but I think I expected too much.

Loved this restaurant. Ambiance was great… went on a Saturday night and they had a piano player and live music. The garden area is super cute. The food was delicious! Had the burrata, which was way better than burrata I’ve had at other Italian restaurants, the osso bucco and the veal scallopine. Everything was delicious! Would definitely go back. It was pretty empty on Saturday night, so I hope they don’t close down any time soon. This place is great!

My boyfriend and I got a coupon on 1 Appetizer to share, 2 Entrees, 1 Dessert and 1 Bottle of wine. The deal was great and the service was even better. My boyfriend and I sat in the back portion which has a beautiful intimate set up. The food was simply amazing! My boyfriend had the lamb and I had the steak and we were both happy. They have a great selection of entrees. I highly recommend.

I bought an deal for $ 30 brunch that included an entrée, side, and unlimited mimosas for 2 hrs. The venue was adorable. Upscale, fancy, and cute. My group got to sit outside the heated patio area. The staff was very friendly and catered to all of our different mimosa requests. The food was very good too. I can vouch for the omelets and the pasta off of the brunch menu. The breadbasket was amazing as well. Very fitting venue for a less crowded, fancy girl brunch!

Good place for a first date. Romantic with a live singer. It’s pretty cheap and has big portions. Nice service too.

Used a GILT city offer here and could not have been happier. Small little restaurant with a nice lady singing in the background while you dine in a small intimate setting. had a patio which would have been lovely in the summertime. Food was awesome and portions are generous. Went home and immediately bought another Gilt offer. Definitely go try this place. I would wear something nice upon my next visit.

Went here yesterday for a brunch that was purchased thru UrbanDaddy. The location is a place you don’t see much foot traffic in so it is not terribly busy. When a group of us four went it was relatively quiet, there was one waiter and i think he doubled as the bartender as well. We sat down at 1pm, ordered a Caprese salad and a round of mimosas right away. 30 mins later we asked if the salad was coming out and the waiter informed us everything comes out at once in brunch, makes no sense since we wanted the salad BEFORE the entrees. Once the salad came out, it was only mozzarella and tomatoe. There were no brussel sprouts or anything else on the plate. So many things wrong here, my overall experience is that it was a good place to try but I would NOT recommend to any other friends and will not be going back. There are better brunches you can go to.

After I read on page six in the Post that Mick Jagger had eaten here with his family a few weeks ago I thought I should try it. Also, my Italian friends suggested we go here for brunch. The waitstaff was very friendly and accommodating. We ate on the terrace, an unusually delightful experience to have on a warm Sunday afternoon in NYC. Reminded me of lunch in an Osteria in Calbria. Food was incredible! I highly recommend the Carbonara pasta dish on the Brunch menu.

Everything about our dining experience was exceptional! Not only was the food delicious but portions were appropriate for sharing! The wait staff was very helpful in that their suggestions and knowledge of the menu resulted in each course exceeding our expectations. Because the restaurant is small, the jazz singer(Friday & Saturday nights) is rather loud. If this is a concern, be sure to ask for a table at the other end of the dining room; or if the weather is lovely, be sure to dine in the Garden Room. Can’t wait to return!

I came here on a Friday night for dinner. Unfortunately, I was quite disappointed by the food. I enjoyed the service — very attentive and friendly. Live music was enjoyable. I didn’t have any high expectations coming in. I think the food pictures on Unilocal are misleading. Tomato bruschetta came automatically with the bread. The bread it sat on tasted hard and old, and a little soggy as it was probably made a few hours ago. I had the lamb gnocchi and lamb main. The gnocchi was soggy and mushy. The sauce did’t taste like much. The lamb was cooked medium rare and tasted more of char than lamb. I love lamb and for some reason, this lamb tasted like… not good beef… chewy. I had the tiramisu for dessert, which tasted a little old/off. I had that weird plastic coating in my mouth after I had finished. I hate to be so negative in a review because the place was adorable. It had a beautiful patio outside and the couples around us looked like they were having a nice time. I think this place can be really nice, but they really need to step it up in the food department.

Restaurant is new and clean. Food is delicious, great wine and cocktails, amazing ambience with live music, professional and attentive service . I recommend this place for a romantic night out since it is quiet, soft lighting, live piano player. Relaxing.

If you’ve ever been to an all inclusive resort this restaurant will look familiar. The white linens and dim lighting belie the true nature of this sub-par, poor excuse for fine NYC dining. After waiting for about 30 minutes before someone came to our table for the first time, keep in mind, it was hardly crowded in the dining room, we were greeted by a waiter who proceeded to inform us that numerous items on the already thin menu were not available for one reason or another. In fact, many of the items on the menu were either changed or removed altogether. We were then left to contemplate our options over a basket of very stale, reheated bread. Bad form Dopo. The waiter eventually returned to take our order. I selected the artisan tube pasta(whatever that is) with seared tuna. However, come to find out, the tuna was not yet ready to be seared in the kitchen. Now, if we were sitting down to dinner at 5:30 or even 6PM I could understand this, but it was now nearly 8PM on a Friday night and the kitchen was still not prepared for dinner. Ugh. I ended up having the pan seared sea bass — it was fine, nice crust, decent array of vegetables. Not bad — only there were a number of bones in the fish. Finally, after all of this, just for fun we asked to see the desert menu. Sure enough, yet again, there were a number of items on the menu that were no longer available. Who is eating all these deserts? The place was practically empty on a Friday night! Bottom line — skip it.

What a cute place. I don’t normally like to take my mom places I’ve never tried before but she was in town and I managed to get a reservation. Plus, you can’t go wrong with Italian. My mom asked me, «why do we always go to Italian places?» I ordered the beet salad to start and the mussel and gnocchi special. I still think Apizz does gnocchi best but… live piano player and singer in an intimate space that fits about 20? My plus one and my mom ordered the sea bass. My mom thought her dish(the sea bass special on potatoes) was a bit oily/greasy. My plus one’s sea bass was grilled, so it was a bit, dry, but I liked the mixed vegetables. Again, cute. I’d come back.

My husband and I had dinner here last Saturday. It was a lovely, romantic and elegant restaurant with excellent service and very good food. We had Calamari Fritto as a starter. It was very crispy, not greasy– very good. As our main course, we both got the Grilled Rack of Lamb with zucchini, potatoes and fresh mint. It was very tender and nicely cooked to a rosy medium rare. I actually would have liked mine a little more toward the rare side– but that was my fault for not expressing that desire. I’d recommend it if you want a good italian meal in a place with nice atmosphere/ambience, warm and welcoming staff, excellent, professional and attentive service and really good food.
