Doron and Manny did my hair for my wedding(and the rest of the bridal party) and I cannot say enough about how amazing these two are. They clearly love their work and their clients — I met with them several times to go over ideas for my hair and every time Doron would try a new technique to make the style better and better. I even came in to have them trim and color my hair a few days before the wedding because they had suggestions on how to make the styling stand out with more volume(by adding layers) and with brighter color(by doing a very natural looking glaze). I cried when I saw the finished product the day of the wedding. I don’t normally do my hair or dress up, and they made me look amazing. It was an updo with a lot of curls and texture and it stayed put the entire night(I jump around a lot when I dance!). The rest of my girls looked amazing and loved their hairstyles also. Honestly, I could not have had a better experience. I am so thankful they were a part of my special day.

I have had the same stylist for over 15 years in my home state, but have had nothing but horrid experiences in NYC since I moved here four years ago… until Doron! I have extremely long and thick hair and get medium to fine partial highlights. I just had my second appointment and it is perfect again!

Despite asking for a very specific an inclined cut, they gave me something different, a dutchboy with short bangs. Frumpy, not my style. This place was recommended and I was very specific about shoulder length in the front and a few inches shorter in the back. Something a little edgy is what I was hoping for. Not a chin-length bob, — same length front & back. Technically, it’s a well done bob, but not what I had requested. Also said bangs should never be higher than my eyebrows. They cut my bangs ½ in” above my eyebrows. Seems they blow dried the back to kinda look like what I asked for, although the front was obviously too short. Weird they would do this and not actually cut hair shorter in the back. Once I washed it at home it was a dutchboy bob. I’m disappointed as this place was highly recommended by an acquaintance with EXACTLY the haircut I had asked for. So I know they are capable of doing an inclined cut. No idea why they didn’t give me one. It will take months to grow my hair long enough in front again.

Quick Update: Aside from their continuing good work, I felt I needed to update with a little extra kudos for Manny and Doron. I had an event to go to and, after their doing my hair beautifully, I got dressed at the salon and in running around I got sweaty and messed up my hair a little. It wouldn’t have occurred to me to say, «help!», but Manny took one look and said, «Stop!» He insisted on giving it a quick re-blowdry and fluff just because he knew the event mattered to me and he wanted me to look my best. It was, of course, beautiful again. That kind of attention and caring is rare and special.

Domel is a great hair salon with two talented dressers who have been treating my hair for over 10 years now — Doron and Manny. Doron cuts my hair with creativity and mastery, and Manny applies amazing highlights on my hair and also blow-dry. Every time I come out of Domel, I get compliments on how glamorous and fabulous I look. Manny and Doron are experts in designing the right look for my preference and lifestyle, and they keep me smiling :)

I’ve been going to Domel for the last 3 years but, after my highlights last Thursday, I will never set foot in there again. I started going to Manny for haircuts in 2011 and loved how he styled my hair. However, trouble started once I began getting highlights a couple of years ago. They looked great the first time, but went downhill from there. I would describe or show Manny pictures of the color I wanted, but would find out once my hair was dried that he ignored these requests. My hair would be blatantly streaky, with little bits of light blonde through my dark blonde hair. These stuck out like a sore thumb, and reminded me of that awful trend from several years ago. It would also turn out yellow-y or brassy, which I hated. I foolishly put up with this, because I liked and was loyal to Manny(and I only get my hair colored every few months). This past Thursday though, my hair came out with whitish-yellow chunks in the front(see picture). He also didn’t get highlights to the top of my scalp, so I left with half an inch of roots in some places. Between the super light parts, the yellow-y parts, the many parts he left dark, and the obvious roots, my hair looked ridiculous. I didn’t make it home without crying, so I called Manny to let him know that I didn’t like the extremely light streaks in front. He played dumb, acted like I was an idiot, and didn’t even offer to fix it. I went to a different salon, where they fixed my hair for $ 80. And they happen to have a policy where unsatisfied customers can get their hair fixed for free within a week. Amen to that.

My fiancé went in to get his hair cut. We did a walk in. We waited for about five minutes but not too long. First off there was one old guy I just did not want to cut his hair, but randomly they appointed him to cut his hair. Now My fiancé has a picture of the exact haircut that he wanted, and showed it to the guy and asked if he could do it, He says yes so he get his hair cut, and Im watching from my seat and the guy spends about 20 minutes doing nothing. My boyfriend got out of that chair the exact same way he sat down. The guy cut one of his sideburns off and left one longer than the other(I guess he forgot one side), and I noticed this after we left, that he had only one sideburn. and he didn’t even cut the back side of his hair. The best thing he did was put gel in his hair, but he could of done that himself –__– So we paid $ 50 basically nothing. A crappy haircut. My advice is to watch what they are doing when cutting your hair. Now we know where NOT to go. P.S-Maybe it was just that one hair stylist(they need to hire experienced ones), but another guy with white hair did an awesome job on a womans hair as I watched what he did., and the other guy with the long black hair up to his neck also did a good job on his client. I just wish we didn’t get this old guy.

Doron is amazing with Blonde highlights. I have been to at least 5 people in the city and I can say that I will be staying with him. Such a great deal you can not beat it. $ 100 for partial highlights and $ 150 for a full head! It might depend on your length and what you get done. I received a haircut also the last time I was there and let me tell you, AMAZING as well! He listens to what you want and give a great blowout after!

I’ve been going to Domel for years — first at their 23rd street location, now on 21st. He’s been giving me the best haircuts, regardless of the style, and I always get the best compliments once Doron is thru with me. Highly recommend!

This gem of a salon offers a fantastic Brazilian Blowout! My hair was not damaged, it was incredibly improved! Manny did my blowouts. Doron cuts and colors my hair. If he is not there, then Manny styles my hair. They are both geniuses! If you want the Brazilian keratin treatment blowout this is the place to go. This is just one more reason to go to Domel!

I got the Brazilian Keratin wash and also updated my color here a few days ago. The color is amazing — Doron mixed it for me, and it’s so flattering with my coloring! I’m loving my new straight hair, and I really love how easy it has been to take care of! The staff at Domel were all very sweet, and I will be back!
