We went here for a birthday party as a group of 10 people and thankfully we were seated right on time which was great(we had a reservation). They treated us well, and even gave us complimentary shots at the end. What to get: — the cocktails are the real highlight here. All of the ones we ordered were great. — The meal for 4 is $ 35 a person but definitely worth it. My friends said they were unbelievably impressed with the quantity. TIP: this can be comfortably shared with 5 – 6 people if you are looking to save money ! — the steamed kimchi and beef dumplings were also delicious. What not to get: — the classic bibimbap wasn’t actually that flavorful and unfortunately we ordered it with tofu and it only came with 3 slices. — bulgogi is flavorful but honestly worth half the price. $ 27 was WAY overpriced. The main problem with this place is the high prices. Everyone agreed that this place is good, but the food isn’t good enough to explain why our bill came up to $ 50 a person.

I gave this place 1 star because it wouldn’t accept my review without at least 1 star. In reality it rates 0 stars. Where do I begin? Oh, ok I know, the service, after waiting almost ½ hour for a table for 4, we were finally seated. Another 15 mins. Before anyone came to table to ask what out drink order was. Food arrived cold, tasteless, over cooked. When we asked to speak to someone in charge, suddenly, no one spoke English. This has to be the worst resturant in Manhattan, save your money, if you want better food, go to the push cart vendor on the corner.

My second time trying this place out first time I thought that I may just have caught them on a bad night, the service was terrible and food was bland and not authentic. Came back a second time with some Korean friends thinking it has to be better. I was embarrassed as I suggested we try it out again being in the area. Food was called not authentic and flavorless by my Korean friends and to top it all off we found a hair in the rice and glasses were dirty and it seemed to annoy them that we didn’t want to drink from dirty glasses. My friends promised to take me out to Queens to a real Korean place so I can try real Korean food not this flavorless mush that Do Hwa is serving ! AVOIDTHISPLACE !!!

Went here last night and it was hopping. We had to wait 45 minutes for our reservation(my brother made it last minute) and they did end up buying us a shot at the bar. It was one of the first times i’ve eaten at a Korean restaurant, so perhaps my experience is a little different. For starters, we split the pan-fried beef dumplings which were DELICIOUS. I wish we ordered another round of them. I then ordered the Pad Thai of Korean food, a Classic Bibimbop(seasoned vegetables with beef topped with a fried egg). I really enjoyed my entrée. It was a lot of food and the pot was smoking hot so it took me some time to chow down on it. The beef was fairly juicy and combined with the rice, veggies, and egg I felt very satisfied after the meal. Would I return. probably not due to the price. I think I need an expert to take me to Koreatown next time.

Came in on a busy friday night, almost lost a star for making me wait almost an hour for the reservation, however I did make it last minute and they did give a free shot for waiting patiently at the bar, so all was forgiven. Started with some Pan-Fried Beef Dumplings that were greasy on the outside but well prepared and tasty on the inside. My main course was the Bulgogi, which at $ 27 wasnt cheap, but contained some savory and well sauteed ribeye beef with ssam, which was a lettuce leaf wrap. There was also some kimchee and other korean staples on the side. This restaurant was dark and quaint, and quite full on a friday evening. If I had to eat korean food again in the village, Id give it another try.

Can I please tell you the number one way to have the ultimate Netflix and Chill sesh? DO get takeout from DO Hwa and let the aphrodisiac Korean meats from the Gods send you off into Pleasureville, USA, population two. A restaurant basically does one of two things. 1) It makes you hate life and want to sit on your phone the whole time not talking to the babe sitting across from you(ie that garbage-oasis Guy Fieri’s American Kitchen & Bar) OR2) It transforms your life overnight like the movie«Weird Science.» DO Hwa is my Weird Science. Lemme take you through it. On a Thursday night, I basically put a bra on my head and prayed for a sweet date. Next thing I know, it’s Friday night — date night to be exact — and I’m having takeout with this babe. WEIRDSCIENCE! So in addition to the praying and the bra wearing, I hit up this babe. Gave her a ring aka I called her aka used my cell phone. Chicks above 27 love when you call them. It’s like a guaranteed hook up. They get all nostalgic for middle school and high school plus they tell you«guys never call, and I was so impressed that you called.» Basically calling a babe makes you THEMAN. So we were gabbing on the phone, just like a couple of kids. It was just like we were in middle school except mom didn’t butt in on the phone call asking when I’d be off cuz she needed to call grandpa and make sure he took his butt medication. We talked about so much I don’t even remember it all. Kept it real casual. And then toward the end, I throw up the softball, «hey, so I’m just planning on chilling tomorrow night, not in the mood for much. I’m down to chill if you are.» And BAM! She swung and knocked that ball outta the park. «Yeah, I wasn’t going to do anything either. We should do nothing together. Want to come over?» Friday couldn’t have come soon enough. Friday comes, and I’m headed to her place, like a boss. I rolled through with two bottles of wine. Why two? Because only an amateur brings one. When you bring two bottles of wine, it lets her know you are a classy guy and a guy who thinks smart. We both know we are going to settle in for a long night, so we better not get caught with an empty wine glass at midnight. What do I know when I arrive, but she’s already got a couple bottles of wine pulled for us. Oh hello the future ex Mrs. Wagner! We instantly popped a bottle of red. She’d already order the food. Said it was a Korean BBQ place. I’d never heard of it but was up for a little adventure, even at the potential risk of all the spices lighting my ass on fire the next morning. One bottle of wine later, and I think the food was finally delivered. Dinner was a blur. The next morning, I woke up to three empty wine bottles, seven empty food containers, two texts to a buddy of mine around 4AM and zero clothes on my body. The rest of the details are not for you. Get your own life! I do vaguely remember the food being the dankest of dank. Pretty sure we had the pan-fried beef dumplings, sautéed sesame, sweet potato glass noods, the bulgogi and something with chicken in it, I think. The dumps were so on point and man, oh man, were the potato glass noodles. I remember there not being much left and so I asked my babe if I could finish them. I didn’t even want to ask, but felt it was the gentlemanly thing to do. Luckily, she told me, «They’re all yours babe.» I wasn’t sure if she was talking about the food or her bod, but I didn’t care, I ate the noodles! DO yourself a favor and go to DO Hwa. If you are going to Netflix and Chill don’t even think about ordering pizza or some lame-ass Chinese food. Kick it up a notch, treat yo self and impress. The only way to do it up is with DO Hwa. And 3.5 stars average? You people obviously have zero taste.

Stumbled in here on Halloween night unsuccessfully trying to get to the original restaurant of my choice.(Road closures from the parade sucked!) But me and my friend were glad we came. The grill table menu was slightly expensive than what I usually pay but it was a good portion for two. We got the marinated boneless beef short ribs and the pork belly. I got a seafood udon which was delicioussssss and my friend got a cold buckwheat noodle; she liked it. From her raving, definitely try the Saint Rose cocktail! Friendly staff, great service. Will definitely come va k for happy hour!

Really cool, trendy Korean restaurant in the west village. A coworker friend of mine knows the owners and took a couple of us to have dinner after work. They have a pretty awesome happy hour of half priced cocktails until 7 and they are quality, mixology type cocktails. Ginger cinnamon tea and Yuzu martini with lemon sorbet were fantastic. For food, we started with the salmon sashimi salad, which was delicious and fresh. Also had the pork ribs starter, which was great. We had Korean Bbq and ordered a couple orders of both types of Kalbi. Delicious! Super flavorful and cooked well. It’s definitely on the pricier side but it comes with the quality. Would go back.

I really enjoyed this hidden gem in the west village. We did not sit at a grill table but it was just good solid Korean food. We had 30% off, so that may have helped us enjoy even more. We had the pork bulgogi and bimbimbap. Both were very enjoyable and good size.

Cool little Korean restaurant actually outisde of K-Town. The establishment is trendy, a little dark, and has a relaxed lounge feel to it. The cocktail menu is creative and good, with happy hour prices on many items. There are only 5 «grill tables» so if you want to play it safe make a reservation if you plan on grilling. We enjoyed both pork and beef and both were delicious. Our waitress was very helpful in assisting us in making a decision as to what to get and how much. She also gave us a thorough run-down of each of the side dishes that come with the grill order.(A benefit that is not always offered in K-Town.) Korean BBQ prices are generally similar everywhere, and by that I mean not cheap. Per entrée plan on paying around $ 30, and if you’re sitting at a grill table at least 2 of you need to buy that sort of entrée.

I came here with the understanding that the food was going to be exceptional and upscale. However, the food was average, at best, and very overpriced for what it was. My bf and I had kimchi pajun for starters, he had the dwenjang jjigae, and I had the yukae jang. Everything tasted fine but it wasn’t that outstanding. Staff was very friendly, attentive, and prompt.

Have gotten food delivered to my friend’s apartment in Soho from here. Has always arrived quickly and hot! Basically everything I’ve eaten from here has been great — fried chicken, rice noodles, obviously the bibimbap. An enjoyable treat for me since I never usually do delivery!

Really cool little place in the west village that serves up some pretty good Korean dishes. The restaurant looks more like a lounge than a dining establishment, but aside from that, the food a service are very good. I’ve come here on a few occasions and both times I’ve ordered the Kimchi Bokum. It’s sautéed kimchi mixed with a choice of beef, pork or tofu. I’ve always gone with the tofu and it was excellent. The tofu pieces aren’t too big and it mixes very nicely with the sauce from the kimchi and the taste of the rice. Also, the mini appetizer plates that they bring out before the meal are delicious. Specifically the noodles and kimchi. Worth noting, the service here is really good. Each time I’ve come, the food is always served in short order and you’re usually closely tended to. All of which makes for a great dining experience and a place that has certainly been incorporated into my rotation.

Glad I finally tried this spot. It was fun to have good Korean food in a place that was not on 32nd b/w 5th and 6th. Plus, it’s cool/trendy spot with a good scene and ambiance. The cocktails here are pretty yummy too. Looking forward to coming back to try out other dishes.

My friends and I showed up and luckily scored a grill table without a reservation. The place filled up fast though so I think that I would make a reservation next time. It’s expensive and a bit overpriced but it could easily go either way as a casual get together with friends or a fairly fancy dinner. Plus it is in the West Village so it makes sense that it’s going to be pricey. The thin metal chopsticks were hard to use. The food was really good but I have to admit as an American I probably enjoyed that it wasn’t 100% authenticate. I think the venue is on point for the clientele. All the veggies and meat for grilling were fresh. Our sever was great and took the time to explain the menu and how to grill our food. Two of us got the BBQ entrees(a requirement to sit at a table with a grill). The other two got regular meals but we all just shared. There was plenty of food for four people but we didn’t walk away with any leftovers.

Do Hwa is an overpriced Korean restaurant that makes people feel like they are doing something cool and worldly for themselves by eating exotic Korean food, but the food isn’t really delicious, nor was it very authentic. I second Diogenes W’s opinion that the thin metal chopsticks were difficult to use. In fact, they symbolize all that was wrong with the restaurant: beautiful but not substantial. The best dish I got was the battered codfish appetizer. I got the kimchi chigae with beef, and there was barely any beef in the soup. It also tasted bland for kimchi chigae. The restaurant is also loud and overpriced. A bulgogi entrée was $ 27 — that’s pretty ridiculous.

Came here the other night for dinner and drinks. We had a really great time! Kevin, was amazing he made our experience really exceptional. My friend is a huge bourbon fan, and typically super picky when he orders an old fashioned– kind of a snob really ;) but he was so impressed by the bartender’s knowledge of whiskey and bourbon. The place is cute, definitely small but we were reservation less and they accommodated our party of 5. We ordered a bunch of items but the fan fave was the jalapeño chicken. Everyone had some soju because you can’t go to Korean without a little soju to spice up the night. The service was awesome and I’ll definitely be coming back soon!

Korean BBQ? Yes, please. I really do love Korean food, and, while K-Town does have a number of options, I really like Do Hwa in the West Village. This authentic Korean restaurant offers two types of tables, regular, of course, and grilling tables where you can cook your own food. I’m always up for a cooking experience, but, I figured I’d let Do Hwa cook for me this time. To start, I had the Seng Sun Jun(bite size cod fish in light egg batter). Then for an entrée, I ordered Ojingo Bibimbop(rice, 7 seasoned vegetables, topped with spicy sautéed squid and sliced chilies in a hot stone bowl). I’ve had bibimbop plenty of times, but I’ve never had it served with spicy squid, so, naturally, I had to try that variation. And, I’m certainly glad I did. This dish itself is pretty hot, both temperature and spice wise, but I do enjoy a spicy dish. The veggies are fresh, and have a combination of textures from the soft shredded carrots, to the crunchy sprouts. The squid is tender and has that pleasant chewy texture, which is also a nice contrast from the crispness of the veggies. And then, of course, the best part is found at the bottom of the hot pot, the crispy rice.
